Pickens Debris Basin Project Location:

Pickens Debris Basin is located in La Crescenta, east of the intersection of Briggs Avenue and Cross Street.

Project Scope: • Remove existing timber planking on top of spillway • Raise spillway by 5 feet• Extend outlet tower by 5.5 feet • Raise channel wall by 2 feet • Regrade access road

 Capacity:

Before (fall of 2009) 125,000 cubic yardsAfter enlargement 156,000 cubic yards

Pinelawn Debris Basin

Project Location: Pinelawn Debris Basin is located in La Crescenta, northwest of the intersection of Pinelawn Drive and Pinecone Road.

 Project Scope:

• Remove existing timber planking and top of debris barrier posts • Construct a concrete parapet wall at inlet structure • Raise outlet tower by 5 feet

 Capacity:

Before (fall of 2009) 3,200 cubic yards After enlargement 4,800 cubic yards

Starfall Debris BasinProject Location:

Starfall Debris Basin is located in La Crescenta, northeast of Pinecone Avenue and Starfall Drive.

Project Scope: • Remove existing debris barrier posts and timber planking at spillway• Raise spillway by 7 feet • Raise spillway wall by 4 feet • Construct an access ramp • Construct a front wall and access ramp wall • Reconstruct access road • Raise outlet tower by 3 feet

 Capacity:Before (fall of 2009) 15,000 cubic yards After enlargements 28,300 cubic yards

Canyonside CulvertProject Location:

The project location is on Crescenta Valley Water District’s access road, 300 feet north of 6065 Canyonside Road in La Crescenta.

Project Scope: • Construct 72 inch diameter Corrugated Metal Pipe across the access

road• Install steel debris barrier posts• Place concreted stone riprap

Purpose:Redirect as much debris flow as possible away from Canyonside Road back to the adjacent Pickens Canyon watercourse

Project Status:• Environmental permit application to regulatory agencies 8/19/2010• Construction to follow in fall 2010
