Missouri Rising released the following statement on the non-partisan ethics watchdog Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT) today naming Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) among its Worst Ethics Violators Of 2015:

The people of Missouri deserve a government that follows the law and upholds the highest standard of ethics, and its unfortunate that leaders like Senator McCaskill and Attorney General Koster have so often failed that test. Brian Rogers, Executive Director of Missouri Rising

In August, FACT asked the Federal Election Commission to investigate Senator McCaskill for violating federal election law by spending $40,000 to conduct a poll of Missouri Republicans and shared the results with her preferred Republican opponents to help him win the GOP primary. That $40,000 was far in excess of the $2,500 legal limit for in-kind donations permitted under federal law. As FACTs Executive Director, former U.S. Attorney Matthew Whittaker stated in the complaint, Senator McCaskill did not simply meddle in another party's primary, rather she crossed the legal line and made a prohibited donation in violation of federal law.
