Alabama SJWP Competition Details: Teams of up to three participants are eligible to enter. Projects will be judged by research paper review and interviews at international science and engineering fairs (ISEF). If students do not participate in a science fair, other means will be instituted to conduct interviews if needed. If you feel you have a qualifying project, regardless of whether you participate in a science fair, you are also eligible to submit your project online by April 15, for consideration for the state prize even if you have not received a regional certificate.

Alaska SJWP Competition Details:
Teams are eligible to enter, however only one member of the team must be selected to represent the team at the National Competition if selected as the state winner. The winning project will be selected by AWWMA’s SJWP judging committee prior to our annual statewide conference April 30-May 4 in Anchorage. The winner will be notified in advance of an announcement at the conference, and will be invited to attend to the awards luncheon during the conference to accept the award if possible. Projects will be judged by research paper review and interviews at international science and engineering fairs (ISEF). If you feel you have a qualifying project, regardless of whether you participate in a science fair, you are also eligible to submit your project online by April 15, for consideration for the state prize even if you have not received a regional certificate. *************************Alaska was the 2009 SJWP National Competition Host *************************

Colorado SJWP Competition Details: Colorado SJWP candidates are typically chosen through research paper review and interviews at the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair held in April. Regional certificates will be given out at science fairs to projects deemed eligible. All students receiving a certificate are encouraged to apply online for the Colorado State SJWP Competition. RMWEA will select the state prize from the online applicants and may conduct phone interviews with the top candidates. One student/team will then be awarded the state prize and the opportunity to attend the national competition. If you feel you have a qualifying project, regardless of whether you participate in a science fair, you are also eligible to submit your project online by April 15, for consideration for the state prize even if you have not received a regional certificate. .

environment Connecticut SJWP Competition Details: The Connecticut State Science Fair is a regular participant in the SJWP competition. Award certificates and two prizes will be given out at this fair. The Science Horizons Regional Fair has also participated in the SJWP competition. If you have a project in this fair, please call the Fair Director to confirm SJWP certificates will be awarded at this fair. All students receiving a certificate are encouraged to apply online for the Connecticut State SJWP Competition. NEWEA will select finalists for the state prize from the online applicants and will conduct interviews with the top candidates. One student will then be awarded the state prize and the opportunity to attend the national competition. A final winner will be selected from all papers submitted online in combination with any interviews held at the GA ISEF Fair in Athens, GA. Hawaii SJWP Competition Details: The HWEA sends volunteer judges to select district science fairs consisting of the Hawaii Association of Independent Schools, Leeward, Windward, Maui, and the state science fair (all ISEF). From the pool of district winners, the judges then select a state winner to represent Hawaii at the national level. Indiana SJWP Competition Details: IWEA sends volunteers to various Regional Science Fairs throughout the State to select Regional Award winners and encourage students to submit their projects for the State Competition. ▪ IWEA provides $500 – SJWP Winner $100 – Junior Level Winner Iowa SJWP Competition Details: "The IAWEA will have judges at the two ISEF regional science fairs in Iowa, the Western Iowa Science and Engineering Fair in Sheldon, Iowa and the Eastern Iowa Science and Engineering Fair in Cedar Rapids. A regional winner may be identified at each fair based on a review of the project and interviews. Judges will also be present at the State Science and Engineering Fair of Iowa in Ames, where a state winner will be identified through reviews and interviews similar to the regional fairs. In order to qualify for the state Stockholm Junior Water Prize (SJWP) winner, a research paper must be submitted to WEF by the appropriate state deadline and formatted according to WEF guidelines. A student's research paper shall be the basis for selecting the state SJWP winner. This is different to years past. The state SJWP winner will not necessarily be the state winner, but may be a home-schooled student, regional or state winner. The state SJWP winner will be the student with the best research paper and will be sponsored to the national SJWP competition along with the student's teacher."
