Section 1. Introduction This guide demonstrates how to migrate the following items using Transend Migrator and Transend Migrator Forensic Edition.

• Message Folders

• Address Books

• Calendar Entries

• Tasks/To Do

The Transend Migrator help system is context sensitive. Pressing the help button will take you to the specific section related to the screen you are in.

Section 2. Message Folders 1. Start Transend Migrator and choose Message Folders at the default screen.

2. Press the Options button to set program options.

3. Press the Next button to continue.

4. Choose Lotus Notes as the source email program from the Convert From drop down selection box.

5. Choose Exchange/outlook as the destination email program from the Convert To drop down selection box.

6. Press the Next button to continue.

7. Enter the required information for the Lotus Notes account.

a. Notes User: Transend Migrator will read the default Notes user information and fill in this information for you. If you are unsure what to enter here then accept the defaults or you may also be able to leave this field blank.

b. Mail Database: Enter the path and filename to the mail database file to be migrated. This example shows the default location of the mail database file on the Domino and Foundations Start server. If the mail database file is located outside of a server environment then enter in the correct path and filename, or press the Browse button to select it.

c. Password: Enter the password for the Notes mail database file to be migrated from. If you are using a different Notes ID then start Lotus Notes and switch the ID to the one you will be using.

8. Press Next to continue.

9. Enter the required information for the Exchange or Outlook account. Transend Migrator

will normally enter in the default profile created in Microsoft Outlook. Accept the default profile or enter another.

a. Profile or PST: Accept the default profile, or clear the check box and press the Next button to choose a different profile. Press the Browse button if you are instead migrating into an existing or new PST file. Refer to the help file for more options.

b. Password: Enter a password only if you are migrating into a PST file and it requires a password. You do not need to enter a password if you are migrating into your own Exchange account.

c. Press Next to continue.

10. Select the folders to convert. Hold down the Shift or the CTRL key while clicking folders to select more than one folder.

11. Press Next to continue.

12. Select Miscellaneous Options to limit your migration or accept the defaults to migrate all email messages.

a. Convert Only (Text Box): If you want to convert messages containing a specific

word or sentence then enter that information into the text box. Then, check the In Text, In Attachments, or Case Significant check boxes.

b. Max Attachment Size: Enter in a value here if you want to limit the size of attachments converted.

c. Max Dist. List Entries: Sometimes, messages contain hundreds of recipients. Enter in a limit here if you do not want to migrate those messages.

d. Oldest Msg Date: Migrate messages from a specific date or accept 1/1/1980 to migrate all messages.

e. Address Conversion: If your email addresses will change then enter in the changes here. Review the help file for the syntax.

13. Press the Help button for more information on your optional choices. Accept the default settings for the most common choices.

14. Press Start to begin the migration.

Section 3. Address Books 1. Start Transend Migrator and choose Address Books at the default screen.

2. Press the Options button to set program options.

3. Press the Next button to continue.

4. Choose Notes Address Book from the Convert From drop down selection box.

5. Choose the Exch/Outlook Contacts from the Convert To drop down selection box.

6. Press the Next button to continue.

7. Enter the required information for the Lotus Notes address book.

a. Notes User: Transend Migrator will read the default Notes user information and fill in this information for you. If you are unsure what to enter here then accept the defaults or you may also be able to leave this field blank.

b. Name Database: This is the address book file normally found on the local workstation. If default file is incorrect then press the browse button to find the file. Alternately, if the address book information is found within the server account, then enable the INOTES switch in Options to convert those. Then, enter in the path to the mail database file as explained in the Message Folders section of this document.

c. Password: Enter the password for the Notes database file to be migrated from. If you are using a different Notes ID then start Lotus Notes and switch the ID to the one you will be using. Normally, the local address book database is not password protected.

d. Name Conversion: This choice is normally not used so keep it blank. Refer to the help file for more information about this choice.

8. Press the Next button to continue.

a. Profile or PST: Accept the default profile, or clear the check box and press the Next button to choose a different profile. Press the Browse button if you are instead migrating into an existing or new PST file. Refer to the help file for more options.

b. Password: Enter a password only if you are migrating into a PST file and it requires a password. You do not need to enter a password if you are migrating into your own Exchange account.

c. Contact Folder: Leave this blank unless you are migrating the contact information into a different folder name from the default, which is Contacts.

11. Press the Start button to begin the migration.

Section 4. Calendar Entries 1. Start Transend Migrator and choose Calendar Entries at the default screen.

2. Press the Options button to set program options.

3. Press the Next button to continue.

4. Choose Notes Calendar from the Convert From drop down selection box.

5. Choose Outlook Calendar from the Convert To drop down selection box.

6. Press the Next button to continue.

7. Enter the required information for Notes Calendar.

a. Notes User: Transend Migrator will read the default Notes user information and fill in this information for you. If you are unsure what to enter here then accept the defaults or you may also be able to leave this field blank.

b. Calendar Database: The calendar information is normally found within the server account, but it can also be found on the workstation if you are using Lotus Notes as a stand-alone email client. Press the browse button to find the file containing the calendar information. If the calendar information is on the server then enter in the path to the mail database file as explained in the Message Folders section of this document.

c. Password: Enter the password for the Notes database file to be migrated from. If you are using a different Notes ID then start Lotus Notes and switch the ID to the one you will be using.

e. Upcoming Events: Check this checkbox if you only want to migrate calendar events created in the future. Clear this box to migrate all calendar entries.

8. Press the Next button to continue.

10. Enter the required information for the Microsoft Outlook calendar.

a. Profile or PST: Accept the default profile, or clear the check box and press the Next button to choose a different profile. Press the Browse button if you are instead migrating into an existing or new PST file. Refer to the help file for more options.

b. Password: Enter a password only if you are migrating into a PST file and it requires a password. You do not need to enter a password if you are migrating into your own Exchange account.

c. Calendar Folder: Leave this blank unless you are migrating the Calendar information into a different folder name from the default, which is Calendar.

11. Press the Start button to begin migration.

Section 5. Tasks & To Do Items 1. Start Transend Migrator and choose Tasks/To Do at the default screen.

2. Press the Options button to set program options.

3. Press the Next button to continue.

4. Choose Notes Tasks from the Convert From drop down selection box.

5. Choose Outlook Tasks from the Convert To drop down selection box.

6. Press the Next button to continue.

7. Enter the required information for the Notes Tasks you are migrating from.

a. Notes User: Transend Migrator will read the default Notes user information and fill in this information for you. If you are unsure what to enter here then accept the defaults or you may also be able to leave this field blank.

b. Tasks Database: The task information is normally found within the server account, but it can also be found on the workstation if you are using Lotus Notes as a stand-alone email client. Press the browse button to find the file containing the task information. If the task information is on the server then enter in the path to the mail database file as explained in the Message Folders section of this document..

c. Password: Enter the password for the Notes database file to be migrated from. If you are using a different Notes ID then start Lotus Notes and switch the ID to the one you will be using.

8. Press the Next button to continue.

9. Enter the required information for the destination Tasks/To application.

a. Profile or PST: Accept the default profile, or clear the check box and press the Next button to choose a different profile. Press the Browse button if you are instead migrating into an existing or new PST file. Refer to the help file for more options.

b. Password: Enter a password only if you are migrating into a PST file and it requires a password. You do not need to enter a password if you are migrating into your own Exchange account.

10. Press the Start button to begin migration.

Section 6. Program Options Additional options are available to customize your migration project. To review the available program options press the Options button from the bottom of the Transend Migrator user interface.

1. Start Transend migrator

2. Press the Options button to change the default settings for your project. You must be at

the beginning of the migration screens. Otherwise, the options button is not enabled. Press the Back button to go to the beginning.

3. Chose the program options available to you for your migration project. Review the General tab, the Lotus Notes tab, and the tab for Outlook/Exchange.
