Church Security Planning Conference September 16 - 17, 2016 Many churches have taken comfort in the thought that "it could never happen here." But headlines and a steadily-growing body of statistical evidence demonstrate that violence in faith-based organizations is not an if, but a when. The Church Security Planning and Intruder Awareness training will equip your staff and key volunteers to create a personalized security plan that protects your congregation while maintaining a welcoming environment.

LEADERSHIP MATTERS by Roger Yancey, D.Min.
Our pastor resigned yesterday can you help us? This call comes on a regular basis to our office since up to 10% of our member churches become pastorless at any given time. There are many ways your Association can help and we welcome this opportunity to serve your church. What follows is a listing of resources your church can call upon when the need arises. Pulpit Supply Immediately the concern comes for who can fill the pulpit in the absence of the pastor. We maintain a listing of available individuals who have completed a prescreening questionnaire and have been endorsed by their home church on our website, www.teba.com which you may access and see their ministry experience and background. You may contact these supply pastors directly or you may contact our office if you have a question about the person who might best fit your church setting.
Pastor Search Committee Training We assist churches in both the process of selecting a Pastor Search Committee (based upon their church documents) and in training the Pastor Search Committee once it is formed. This 3-hour training provides a basis for beginning the search process and churches have consistently found that availing themselves of the training is highly beneficial. This training includes how to set the guidelines by which the committee operates, decision making, discovering candidates, creating a search profile, the next steps in a search process, dealing with candidates, putting together the support package, presenting the candidate to the church family and how to follow-up with the new pastor for ongoing support and encouragement.
Transitional / Interim Pastor Many churches find it helpful to have a Transitional/Interim Pastor rather than a person who only supplies on Sundays. This person is trained in how to work with pastorless churches to assist them in understanding the ministry field, their unique footprint as a church family, strategizing on how to reach their community, addressing issues which may be lingering in the church which could hinder its effectiveness, developing a ministry dialogue regarding the future potential of the church while guiding the staff and working with the leadership of the church. The Transitional/Interim pastor may serve from 2 to 6 days on the field depending on the needs of the church and the resources available. We can assist churches in locating an appropriate Transitional/Interim Pastor to fit their particular needs. Additional Resources We also offer a number of other resources your church would benefit from as it moves forward in discovering God’s Pastor for your church family. As part of the assessment process of understanding your church we offer a Church Health Survey, which can provide a picture of your churches strengths and growth areas. We also can assist your church by resourcing to you Demographic Information related to your community as well as providing Strategic Planning which enables the church to create a ministry plan which moves it forward to impact the community and to provide a model for ministry growth. All of these resources are provided to you at no cost (except for a portion of the Church Health Survey) but are underwritten by the generous contributions of our member churches. When your church becomes pastorless your Association stands ready to assist you in any way possible because that is the reason we exist – to assist and encourage member churches as they reach their world for Christ. In Kingdom service,

Mission Lone Star Evangelism Ministry Opportunity During the Lone Star Motorcycle Rally November 3-6, approximately 400,000 people will gather on Galveston Island to party, ride bikes, and vacation. This flood of folks is a great opportunity for us to share Jesus in a place that desperately needs it.
It's been amazing the last two years to see how 1 out of 4 people who heard the gospel using the Sturgis Method of Evan-gelism prayed to receive Christ as Savior as well as Chaplain stories from their in-teraction with rally vendors!
This is our third year for Mission Lone Star (MLS) and we expect to see more people than ever give their life to Jesus. For that to happen, we need the Church to cooperate around our common cause to take the gospel to a place where people gather from all over the US and the world.
We need volunteers to serve as chaplains to vendors and to share their 3-minute story in the evangelism booth as well as prayer and financial help. How can you help? 1. share… Who else needs to know about this great opportunity? How can you pass this info on to churches and people? 2. mobilize… Who do you know that needs to participate in giving, praying, or going? How can you gather a group to help? 3. pray… When will you start praying for this evangelistic effort in Texas? Who else can you ask to pray with you? 4. give… What are you willing to give? Your influence? Your time? Your money? 5. champion… Where, when, and how will you champion this effort to see people come to Christ in one of the largest gatherings in Texas/US?
The Mission Lone Star website is up and ready to register volunteers at www.missionlonestar.com. You can also find the MLS strategy, past results, media, virtual prayer walk, and other resources on the website. If you, your church, or your association would like to donate to this cause, contact Dale Hill, [email protected]: (409-938-8942), at the Galveston Baptist Association. Dale is doing a great job coordinating this amazing effort.
