James Kwak
Worship & Music Pastor
James graduated from University of California, San Diego (2006) and Westminster Seminary California (2012). He grew up in Monterey Bay county loving the ocean and the game of golf. He met his wife, Alys, at UCSD and since getting married they have
been blessed with their two sons, Jeremiah and Isaiah.
For the last 14 years, James has been called to serve the church in various ways, but his favorite ministry has always been music ministry. So, it is his hope to help members of
New Life deepen their passion for Christ through joyful worship!
John Kong
Pastor of Christian Education & Internship Program Coordinator [Interim]
John is a graduate of Vanderbilt University (2008) and Westminster Seminary California (2019). He was born in Nashville, TN, but grew up in Taiwan from the age of 3 until he
graduated high school. After college he worked in an investment bank for 7 years before sensing God calling him to ministry, and so he resigned in 2015 to come to Escondido for seminary. After graduation he received a call from New Life to be the Director of Christian
Education, where he is primarily responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the Youth Ministry. John loves hanging out with middle and high schoolers, whether it is grabbing
a bite to eat, surfing at the beach, playing sports, or just chatting about life. What he loves most, however, is walking alongside the youth as they continue to mature in their
relationship with God. He is also currently helping to coordinate our Internship Program._________
Ted Hamilton
Senior Pastor
Ted is a native Southern Californian. He did his undergraduate work at Stanford University. He also got his law degree at Stanford Law School. After law school, he
joined O’Melveny & Myers and practiced there for 14 years, the last five as a Partner. Ted resigned from O’Melveny in 1997 and enrolled at Westminster Seminary California
in Escondido. He graduated in 2000 and served as the Pastor of Adult Ministries at Voyagers Bible Church in Irvine. After a year in that role, Ted received the call from New Life to be its Senior Pastor in 2001. The love of Ted’s life is his wife, Linda. They together
take great joy in their family -- daughter, Sarah, and son, Jim -- who with their spouses have added beautiful grandchildren to the mix. Ted loves the outdoors and is passionate
about fly fishing, backpacking and skiing.
Robin Lee
Executive Pastor
Robin is a graduate of UC Berkeley (1996) and of Westminster Seminary California (2008). He was born and raised in Southern California and thinks In-N-Out is perfect.
He met his wife Irene on a mission trip in Mexico; together, they have 4 kids, Karis, Elijah, Joshua, and Noah. Before going into full-time ministry, Robin worked in the corporate world in the areas of finance, business planning, and supply chain. He is
thankful to be serving as the executive pastor at New Life where he gets to incorporate both his professional and pastoral experience to serve the church. “My passion is to
see people experience the abundant life that Jesus promises as they grow in their relationship with Jesus, their understanding of their gifts and passions, and their sense of
calling to serve the world for the King.”
