Camps International operate a permanent network of international

volunteer camps in the heart of rural communities and wildlife

conservation areas in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Borneo, Cambodia,

reforestation, environmental education and marine workshops.

Achievements are measured through real results, with over $10.4

In 2009, STA Travel launched a partnership with the Planeterra Foundation. Planeterra is a non-profit organization that helps empower local

people to develop their communities, conserve their environment and create humane and supportive systems for their endeavours.

Planeterra gets to the root of local challenges by supporting:

• Local solutions to human needs in tourism hubs

• The conservation of ecosystems where the impact of tourism is increasing

• Entrepreneurial small business development where the travel economy brings growing opportunities to local vendors

• Responsible management of iconic destinations to protect important historic monuments and human heritage

• Emergency response to climate-related and natural disasters in travel destinations

In 2010 STA Travel committed $1,000,000 over five years to develop our new volunteer travel programs in support of Planeterra’s projects.

In addition to supporting the volunteer projects, STA Travel has raised $80,000 to develop a Community Resource Centre on Koh Phra Thong in

Southern Thailand, $25,000 to fund a safe drinking water project in Bocas del Toro, Panama, and has recently completed fundraising for a new

Volunteering can be a unique and life-changing experience. It also looks fantastic on your resume demonstrating independence, adaptability and

the ability to engage with people of all different backgrounds. Most of all it’s fun! However, you need support and guidance wherever you are in

that these projects are sustainable and well run, actually benefit the local community in a meaningful way, are set up with travelers in mind, or

lifelong impact to our selected projects. It is crucial to bringing about positive change to the lives of the children, communities, environment and

wildlife STA travelers visit everyday.

As for the remainder of your money, we and our partners dedicate significant time, money and effort towards finding sustainable and credible

projects that offer travelers authentic experiences, while simultaneously contributing to the local communities. The costs to administer and

support these programs cover recruitment, training and other services to ensure you get all the assistance you need before you travel. It’s vital

that you’re prepared to ensure you have a rewarding and safe trip.

We’re ‘customer-obsessed’ and know what it means to volunteer. STA Travel has sent over 100 of our own employees from our stores and offices

Berlin Arrive in Berlin, and meet your group over dinner. On Day 3, hit the ground running as you soak up the intoxicating mix of old and new. See commemorative artwork on the remains of the Berlin Wall, visit the sight of ‘Checkpoint Charlie’, explore the beautiful Tiergarten and snap yourself under the Brandenburg Gate. Nights in Berlin are just as exciting as the daytime, so head out into the mix. (B, D)

Berlin / prague Try the bratwurst in Dresden on the way to Prague. You have the full day on Day 4 to see the sights! Walk the cobbled streets searching for bohemian treasures in the old town and stroll across the Charles Bridge to explore Hradcany Castle and the Cathedral. (2B, D)

prague / Vienna / Budapest You’re off to explore Austria’s cultured capital; Vienna. Admire the beautiful architecture of the Imperial Palaces, wander through a gallery, take in a Mozart recital or check out the schnapps museum! On Day 7, hop across the Hungarian border to visit Budapest. Head over to the castle district for lovely views along the Danube River. The next day is a free day to explore. All your senses are surrounded by the history of this city split into hilltop Buda and bustling Pest. (4B)

Budapest / Krakow Travel north through Slovakia and stop for lunch in Banska Bystrica before arriving in Krakow. Head to the town square and see the black obelisk. On Day 10, wander through the lively market stalls and enjoy a guided tour of the Cathedral and Royal Castle on Wawel Hill. (2B, D)

Krakow / Warsaw / Berlin This morning’s first stop is at the WWII concentration camp of Auschwitz to understand more about the horrors of the Holocaust. Then head off to explore Warsaw, Poland’s revitalised capital. On Day 12, take a guided tour of the old town and Jewish Ghetto. The tour ends on Day 13; you can stay on in Warsaw or take the free transfer back to Berlin. (3B, D)

London / Amsterdam Depart the U.S. and arrive in London at anytime. On Day 3 take a ferry across the Channel via Belgium, you will arrive into the quirky Dutch city of Amsterdam. Tonight, venture out and see the city’s canals and gable houses illuminated on an optional canal cruise. Top it all off by experiencing some of the city’s outlandish nightlife! (D)

Amsterdam / Rhine Valley / munich Weave through valleys dotted with castles and charming vineyards as you head off to the Rhine Valley. Kick back with a glass of local wine and find out more with the optional wine tasting in a candlelit underground cellar. Head for Munich (home of legendary Oktoberfest) where you’ll explore Marienplatz and the Glockenspiel. (2B, D)

munich / Innsbruck / Venice Wind through the Bavarian Alps and stop in Innsbruck to see the famous Golden Roof. It’s then on to Venice; the ‘Floating City’. On Day 7, you’ll roam free and wander its maze of canals and alleys to discover quirky shops and grand palazzos as you take in the sights such as the Bridge of Sighs, the Doge’s Palace and St. Mark’s Square. Rome Depart the U.S. and arrive in Rome at anytime. On Day 2 tap into ‘La Dolce Vita’ of the ‘Eternal City’ and explore this monumental metropolis of Roman history. With its architectural and artistic treasures, its romantic corners and noisy markets, Rome sure knows how to impress! Today is yours to explore and get into the city your way. You could parade past the Colosseum, admire the famous ruins of the Roman Forum, throw a coin over your shoulder into the Trevi Fountain (ensuring your safe return to the city), saunter to the top of the Spanish Steps and visit the lavish Pantheon, and then just about have time to admire Rome’s Baroque centrepiece; Piazza Navona! After a hectic day of exploring, do as the locals do and head to the nearest gelateria to sample some traditional Italian dessert before you meet up with your Tour Manager and group later that evening. Rome / florence Get deeper under Rome’s fascinating historical skin and explore the Vatican City (the world’s smallest sovereign state) on an optional tour. Here you have the chance to visit the Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s Basilica. Later today you will be on the road, heading through rural Umbria’s rolling hills and terraced vineyards to the beautiful Renaissance city of Florence. (B, D)

04florence A local guide (‘Fiorentini’) will give you the inside track on some of Florence’s striking buildings and sacred art in this atmospheric city. Be sure to check out the Duomo, Basilica Santa Croce, Giotto’s Bell Tower, the Baptistry and Piazza della Signoria, as well as enjoying a demonstration of the city’s traditional craft of leather making! florence / pisa / swiss Alps Make a stop in picturesque Pisa to see its iconic Leaning Tower (Torre Pendente), a genuinely astonishing sight. After your time in Pisa, en route to the Swiss Alps you will catch a glimpse of magical Lake Como, whose shores are home to the villas and mansions of the rich and famous. There are several good museums including the Carnival Museum, some great beaches just outside the city and fantastic street food on offer at the Port Market.

estancia stay Leave the city lights behind in favour of the Uruguyan rural life. Get your hands dirty at a working estancia, or ranch, and explore the countryside on horseback rides or day hikes. If all this seems like too much effort, sit back with a glass of regional wine and some traditional barbecue. On Day 8, you’ll board an overnight bus for the journey inland to Iguassu Falls. 09-10iguassu falls Awesome, epic and amazing, you’ll be lost for words as you breathe in the warm waterfall spray and hop over the border to Brazil to gain a different perspective on these magnificent cascades. Take the opportunity to ride under the huge torrents of thundering water on a speedboat. Speedos entirely optional.

Paraty Skipping a whopping 15-hour bus ride, you’ll fly to São Paulo and head straight to the coast. Palm trees and sandy shores await at Paraty, a quaint colonial town with a relaxed, friendly feel. Jump on a boat tour of the beautiful bay and nearby beaches or if you can tear yourself away from the ocean, visit a cachaça distillery to find out exactly how they brew this local sugar cane speciality.

13-15ilha Grande Travel down the coast by bus then hop on board a ferry to take you over to the stunning island of Ilha Grande. You’ll be greeted by boats bobbing along the bay, an impressive lush green mountainous backdrop and a real chilled-out attitude. There are over 100 beaches to choose from so get your flippers on and head into the surf.

Lima Arrive into Lima at any time and get out exploring this underestimated city. The vibrant neighborhoods are colorful and the colonial center is charming. There are various activities such as paragliding on offer – what better way to see the city? In the evening, you’ll meet the rest of your tour group, so why not head out with them to sample some Peruvian cuisine including refreshing ceviche, a citrus-marinated seafood dish. Wash it all down with Peru’s famous cocktail, the Pisco Sour. Its ingredients - locally-produced grape brandy and egg white - may not sell it, but trust us, it tastes good and it will probably be the first of many! Don’t drink too much though, it’s an early start in the morning.

cuzco You’ll fly from Lima to the sophisticated colonial city of Cuzco over the Andes Mountains, taking in the spectacular views. Cuzco sits at an elevation of 3,400m (11,200ft), so acclimatise yourself with a coca tea overlooking the beautiful architecture of the main square. Head to the markets and pick up that Peruvian jumper you’ve always wanted and as many alpaca woolly hats as you have friends back home. Poke your nose into the museums and churches and try some authentic Peruvian food - guinea pig and one of the 3,000 varieties of potato that are grown in and around the Andes. If time permits, you can head out of town on a biking, horse riding or an action-packed river rafting trip.

sacred Valley / ollantaytambo Today is a full-day guided tour through the Sacred Valley and on to the Ollantaytambo ruins. You’ll uncover hidden mysteries at ancient Inca sites, getting you excited for the big journey ahead. You’ll visit a Planeterra weaving project in a local community, where you can buy quality textiles direct from the women who’ve made them. Working your way along the route of the Urubamba River amid the lush agricultural backdrop, there will be more shopping opportunities at the local Pisac market before winding up in pretty Ollantaytambo. The town and fortress of Ollantaytambo have a strategic location overlooking the Urubamba River Valley, and this major ruin site is a well-preserved example of the ingenuity and engineering ability of the Inca. Ollantaytambo is a relatively quiet town and it’s best to spend the evening relaxing ahead of tomorrow’s epic adventure.

inca trail to machu Picchu The views and complexity of the Inca constructions are mesmerizing and it will all help to keep your mind off the long walk to Machu Picchu. You’ll move from high plateaux to dense cloud forest, crossing over three high passes with the most challenging, known as ‘Dead Woman’s Pass’, standing at a dizzy height of 4,200m. Your local porters will race ahead to create a camp complete with coca tea and nourishing food to keep your strength up, allowing you to walk the trail with just your daypack filled with essentials. Along the way, pause at beautifully-sited ruins such as Llactapata and Phuyupatamarca, and pass through original Inca constructions including a causeway and tunnel. On the final day, it’s a relatively short walk and then a climb up the steps to Intipunku, the ‘Sun Gate’, to watch sunrise over Machu Picchu. The magical sight of these mysterious ruins and perfectly-engineered terraces will take your breath away. Its existence was known for centuries to the indigenous population, but it was not until a local boy led the American explorer, Hiram Bingham, to the site in 1911 that its fame started to spread into the outside world. You can walk around Machu Picchu and even climb up to Huayna Picchu or visit the Inca Bridge before catching the train back to Cuzco. (3B, 3L 3D)

08cuzco This tour is done, but you may not be. Why not volunteer with some under-privileged kids in Cuzco, or head into the Amazon Jungle to spot some fascinating creatures? Peru and South America has plenty more to offer, the only question is just what to do first.

Jebel shams / sur / muscat This morning it’s off to Sur, a charming sea-faring town with a bustling trading port and historic dhow yard. Travel the coastal road passing high cliffs and small fishing villages. Visit the ancient city of Qalhat, the oldest settlement in Oman. You’ll visit the famous sinkhole, part of a collapsed mountain which is filled with turquoise sea water, before stopping to enjoy a swim in the ocean. Arrive to Muscat in the late afternoon and enjoy an evening at leisure. (B)

muscat / dubai Rise and shine for an early guided tour of Muscat. Visit the architecturally remarkable Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. On Day 4, make an early departure to Abu Simbel and visit the incredible temple built by Rameses II. Visit also the magnificent Temple of Hathor, which was built to honor the Goddess of Love and Rameses’ wife, Queen Nefertari. On your return to Aswan, you’ll board a felucca boat before setting sail on the River Nile. (2B, L, D)

On board your felucca, the Nubian crew will take care of all the cooking and sailing duties, giving you the chance to do as much (or as little) as you wish. Dahab means ‘gold’ in Arabic, a reference to the golden sands and, while many of Egypt’s Red Sea resorts have become over-developed to cater to the needs of package tourists, Dahab remains an authentic place where backpackers mix with an increasingly chic crowd of independent travelers. Spend the next few days soaking up some sunshine at your own leisure. Swimming, snorkeling and watersports are all on hand, and the town is famous for offering the amazing dive sites and reefs at nearby Ros Mohammad National Park. stA trAVeL inc. notices, terms And conditionsWe are STA Travel Inc. and we look forward to the opportunity to act as your booking agent for your travel needs. These terms and conditions (the “Agreement”) describe what you are legally entitled to expect from us when you purchase travel related services through us, in addition to your obligations as a customer. The terms “we”, “us” and “our” refer to STA Travel Inc. The term “you” refers to the customer visiting our website, booking a reservation through us or otherwise using our services.

1. our Agreement with you We sell a variety of travel related products from different suppliers and service providers (“Suppliers”). Each Supplier has its own terms and condition that are applicable to your particular arrangements in addition to our general terms and conditions, and you should make sure you understand them. Certain software and content found on our website are owned or licensed by us or our Suppliers, your use of which may be subject to further conditions. Our website, which is referred throughout this Agreement, can be found at www.statravel.com.

STA Travel is acting as intermediary or a “Booking Agent” for products and services that are not directly supplied by us (e.g., air carriage and ground transportation, hotel accommodations, meals, tours, cruises, etc.). We are not a co-vendor of such products and services. You will be entering into a separate contract with such Suppliers in connection with such products and services.

deposits and Payment Any deposits from you are non-refundable. Payment of a deposit enables us to hold a reservation for you but does not guarantee the price. The price can only be guaranteed once we receive full payment and other travel documents have been issued, subject to any terms and conditions of the Supplier. We will advise you of the date that full payment is required. Upon your provision of your payment information, you are authorizing us to make the payment arrangements with the corresponding Suppliers.

We reserve the right to refuse personal checks as a method of payment. After full payment, the conditions of the contract with your Supplier may permit them to increase the cost of your arrangements. If we are acting as your Booking Agent, we will pass on any such increase to you as we become aware of such increase. If we have arranged a package, changes in transportation costs including the cost of fuel, taxes, fees and exchange rates mean that the price of your travel arrangements may change after you have paid in full.

documentation Our general practice is to send documents to our customers electronically whenever possible. We reserve the right to charge an administration fee should you make a request for such documents to be sent as a hard copy.

cancellations and changes Your contract with your Suppliers may allow them to cancel or amend bookings. If we are your Booking Agent, we will ensure that you are promptly notified of any significant changes once we become aware of such change if there is time before your departure, but we accept no liability for any changes or costs incurred that may result. Subject to the Supplier’s terms and conditions, you will then have the choice of accepting the change of arrangements, accepting an offer of alternative travel arrangements if one is made available by the Supplier, or canceling your booked arrangements and receiving any applicable refunds. We do not guaranty that any refunds will apply.

If you have booked a flight and we are alerted to a significant schedule change by your airline before you leave the United States, we will contact you by email to advise you of this. Please ensure that you have given your contact email address to us and that you regularly check for messages before you leave. We have no control over airline schedule changes and accept no liability for costs which may arise as a result of such changes.

After you have left the US, it is your responsibility to check with the airline that any onward flights you have confirmed are operating as booked. We strongly recommend that you contact your airline at least 72 hours before the scheduled departure of each flight to do this. Please note that for some airlines it is mandatory to confirm with them your intention to fly.

You agree on behalf of yourself and those you represent to comply with all such terms and conditions, including the payment of all amounts when due. You agree that any violation of any such terms and conditions may result in (a) the cancellation of your reservation or purchase, (b) your forfeiture of any monies paid for your reservation or purchase, (c) you being denied access to the applicable travel related product or service, and (d) our right to debit your account for any costs we incur as a result of such violation.

You represent and warrant that (a) you are of sufficient age to use our services and website and can create binding legal obligations in connection with your use, (b) you are legally authorized to act on behalf of those you represent and accept these terms and conditions on their behalf, and (c) the information supplied by you or members of your group is true and correct. You are responsible for informing such other persons of all terms and conditions applicable to their travel arrangements. You understand that you are financially responsible for any use of our services or website by you and those using your name or account.

if you change your Booking Where a change requested by you to your travel arrangements is permitted and possible, our standard service fees will apply in addition to any additional Supplier charges. Please contact your original booking agent to enquire about changes or review the ‘Travel Help’ section of www.statravel.com for details of how to request changes. Please note that all reservation changes are subject to availability and the terms and conditions of the product purchased.

Changes to name details are not allowed by many airlines and other Suppliers. While we will endeavour make such a change if necessary, please bear in mind that most airlines and Suppliers treat a name change as a cancellation, to which standard conditions and charges would apply.

Flights must be taken in the sequence they appear on your ticket or eticket confirmation. If you plan not to take a flight as booked, please contact the airline as far in advance as possible to discuss your options. If you do not check in on time for a confirmed reservation, the airline may register you as a ‘no-show’, which could result in extra charges and/or your whole flight itinerary being cancelled and/or render your ticket void.

if you cancel your Booking If you cancel your arrangements, you may be entitled to a partial refund. In addition to the cancellation terms and conditions of your Supplier(s), our standard fees will apply as may be outlined on your receipt or booking confirmation. We need to receive from you your original voucher before any applicable refund can be considered. If you decide to cancel arrangements before the balance due date, any deposits paid are non-refundable.

Refunds will only be paid to you once we have received the funds back from the Supplier(s). Generally flight tickets cannot be refunded if they are partially used. We are not responsible for a Supplier’s failure to pay a refund.

If the reason for your cancellation is covered under the terms of your travel insurance policy, you may be able to reclaim your cancellation charges through your insurer.

important notice regarding Airline reservations If you arrive at an airline ticket or passenger check-in counter with your confirmed ticket and find that the airline shows no reservation for you – do not leave the counter. Check your ticket. If the status box shows “OK” for the flight in question, the airline policies typically require them to accommodate you on that flight, or if that is not possible, they must either find you a substitute flight or pay you denied boarding compensation. If necessary ask to speak to a supervisor.

if you have A complaint If you have a problem during your holiday, please inform the relevant Supplier (e.g. your hotel) immediately. Should they be unable to resolve the matter, please immediately contact us in the United States, either through the office where you made your arrangements, or through www.statravel.com. If you fail to timely contact us, we will not be permitted the opportunity to investigate your complaint and attempt to rectify any error while you are away, and this may affect your rights under this Agreement. We are a member of the Better Business Bureau.

travel documents and destinations It is your responsibility to ensure that all of the details on your travel documents are correct and to bring to our attention any errors or discrepancies immediately. Your travel documents are valuable and should be safeguarded as if they were cash. It is not always possible to replace travel documents in the case of loss, theft, damage, etc.

Prior to booking international travel, we recommend that you review any U.S. Government’s prohibitions, warnings and advisories applicable to your destinations. By offering travel to any particular destination, we do not represent that travel in such destination is safe or without risk.

You further agree that in connection with your activities, you will not permit the use of our services or website by anyone that resides or is staying in a country for which such use is prohibited under U.S. regulations.

Passport, Visa and immigration requirements It is your responsibility to fulfil the passport, visa and other immigration requirements applicable to your itinerary. You should confirm these with the relevant embassies and/or consulates. We do not accept any responsibility in the case of you being unable to travel due to not complying with any such requirements.

You are also required to carry a valid International Student I.D., and International Youth I.D. or an International Teacher I.D. card if you are traveling on a special student/youth/teacher ticket. It is your responsibility to verify this with our travel expert who is assisting you.

InsuranceTravel insurance is a vital part of your arrangements. We strongly recommend that you have taken out adequate insurance for the duration of your journey. Travel insurance is a mandatory element of some travel arrangements.
