EURAIL ONE-COUNTRY PASSAvailable in 19 countries (but not in France, Germany, Switzerland) these small but perfectly-formed passes give 3-8 days travel within a one-month period. Some of the smaller countries, such as Slovenia/Croatia and Belgium/Netherlands/Luxembourg count as one country.

Get the ultimate all-American train experience with one of these great value US rail passes. Choose from 15, 30 or 45-day durations which respectively give you eight, 12 or 18 segments of rail travel. With 15 days, you could whizz from Boston via NYC to Miami; coast-to-coast is easily achieved with 30 days and with 45 days you can zig-zag all over this amazing country.

The good news is that if you purchase a seven, 14 or 21-day Japan Rail Pass (can only be bought prior to arriving in Japan) the trains can be much less expensive than you might think. In fact, you can buy a seven-day ‘ordinary’ pass for about the same price as a return ticket from Tokyo to Kyoto. Plus, it’s valid for pretty much unlimited travel across the whole of Japan (some exclusions apply).
