The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity “The mystery of the Most Holy Trinity is the central

mystery of Christian faith and life. It is the mystery of God in himself. It is therefore the source of all the other mysteries of faith, the light that enlightens them. Stewardship Thoughts A Trinitarian theme — three

persons in one God — connects today’s Scripture readings. In the First Reading from Deuteronomy, Moses professes that due to God’s uniqueness, people should be inspired to follow His directives. According to St. Paul’s Letter to the Roman community, the Spirit permits us to become adopted children and heirs through Christ — Roman society held adopted children in high esteem. In a powerful evangelization message from St. Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus commissions His Apostles: Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Do we, as faithful stewards, realize our baptismal call, our gift of discipleship from the Lord? Moved by the Holy Trinity, do we express this discipleship in a spirit of evangelization by welcoming home our brothers and sisters who have left the faith, and those who do not know Chr i s t? P lease read Archbishop Allen Vigneron’s pastoral letter, Unleash the Gospel, at unleashthegospel.org, to review the guideposts for evangelization in the Archdiocese of Detroit.

Make your home a church Your home can be a domestic

church in which you meet God every day. Try these suggestions for creating a sacred space:

Give prayer a central place in your home. Cover a table with a special cloth in the color of the liturgical season. Add a crucifix and small statues or pictures of saints, a family Rosary, a Bible, and add a candle. Leave space to kneel before it. No space for a prayer table? Fill a large basket with pillows, your Bible and some Rosaries, and take it wherever you can gather for prayer. Use it often.

Add sacred objects. Put a crucifix in every room, add holy water fonts, put up icons. Displaying sacred objects in each room of your home will help your family to remember that God is always with you. Start personal spiritual traditions.

Pick days that are special to each of you – birthdays, patron saint feast days, anniversaries. Sing favorite hymns, recite prayers that you write yourselves. Read your favorite Scripture story or verse.

Scripture Lessons:

Matthew 28:16-20, “I will be with you always.”

Jesus appeared to the Apostles on the mountain-top in Galilee so the crowd with them could see the Resurrected Christ and get their final instructions: to go, baptize and make disciples, and to teach them all he had taught them. Jesus also promised his disciples, and us, that he will be with us always. Because Jesus is God, he is

present everywhere. However, we encounter him in a special way in the Sacraments, especially in Holy Communion. At the Last Supper, Jesus took bread and wine, blessed them and gave them to his disciples, saying “This is my body...this is my blood...Do this in memory of me” (Luke 22:19-20). When the priest prays over the bread and wine at Mass, they become Jesus’ Body and Blood. This is how Jesus keeps his promise to be with us always.

What can a parent do? Remind children that Jesus loves them and is with them everywhere, especially in the Sacraments. Tell them that in every Catholic church where the Eucharist is kept, Jesus is really present, waiting to spend time with them.

Feast Days May 27 – St. Augustine of

Canterbury (604). Despite mistakes and failures, Augustine persevered as a missionary in rough and dangerous times in England. Wisely, he purified and retained local customs into Christian rites. His efforts would eventually bear fruit in the conversion of England after his death.

May 30 – St. Joan of Arc (1431). The patron saint of France, St. Joan was inspired by God in a vision to lead the French to victory during the Hundred Year’s War against England. Her troops successfully freed Orléans from the English. She was captured, sold to the English, and falsely accused of sorcery. She was canonized in 1920.

human condition we see that when a man A is in love with a woman B they seal the loving by producing a baby C. Father, mother and child — love when it perfected becomes a trinity.

Our Christian life then is to experience God as the Father, the Son and the Spirit. Our community life then is an invitation to that experience – our life is perfected when we try to live our life in communion with the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.

Memorial Day Prayer Dear Lord, on this day, we

remember those who have served us by protecting our freedoms. When we celebrate our long

weekend with our friends and family, help us remember, that our freedom to speak of you, and our freedom to worship you, and our freedom to do

that which we ought to do, have all been bought at the price and

sacrifice of many lives. Your Son died for our eternal life in heaven. So too, your children died

protecting us here on earth. Help us be mindful this weekend and always of the sacrifices made by

those in uniform for all our freedoms. Amen.

Most Holy Trinity

Happy T r i n i t y Sunday! In today's

Gospel, we hear Jesus declare together all three Persons of the Trinity. "Go therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." When we speak of the Trinity, two

different theological words are sometimes used: immanent and economic. The immanent Trinity is the life of the three Persons within themselves, the inner harmonious relationship between Father, Son, and Spirit. We see this in the Gospels when Jesus speaks of his Father and promises to send the Holy Spirit. The term "economic" has its roots in the Greek word o ikonomia, roughly meaning "household management." The economic Trinity is our three-Personed God's relationship with creation; i t is creation and redemption and ongoing relationship with us. Made in the image and likeness of

God, we are called to imitate God's immanence by giving and receiving love with one another in community. However, this is not limited only to those close to us, though that's where love often starts. We also imitate the economy of God when we go out, when we extend our love and care in a life-giving way. "Go therefore ?" Every believer is sent on mission.

Every believer is invited to follow Jesus and the Apostles "to the nations," to the margins, to the people who require a little extra reach. This could be a distant relative, the residents of your local homeless shelter or even the forgotten neighbor next door! When we love well, we create something beautiful-a relationship, a holy moment, a foretaste of heaven. This Trinity Sunday, take some time to examine the relationships in your life. How well do you love those nearest to you? How well do you reach out to those farther away? How are you creating something beautiful?
