A Stewardship Moment In today’s second reading we learn that one of Saint Paul’s princi-ples of Christian living is to watch and imitate other followers of Christ. There is a pattern for Christian living that Saint Paul wants others to discover and then imitate. This pattern includes a life of prayer, selflessness, sacrifice, and caring for others, including our family of faith. Good stewards choose their friends wisely. They cultivate friendships with other Christian stewards, spend time with them, observe how they live, ask questions about their faith and learn from them. Who are your friends? Are they good stew-ards of their faith? Are they those who can help you on your own journey of faith?

Dear St Thomas Parishioners,

“The prayer of the faith will save the sick persons, and the Lord will raise them up” St James. Your prayers were heard!. My sister returned from hospital. Now she could say few words like “yes” “no” coffee etc. She is still fed through the feeding tube. A home nurse is assisting her 24/7.

Her granddaughter’s wedding is on 5th May. Please contin-ue to keep her in your prayers that she may able to see their wedding. I appreciate your prayers and the support during the time of my anxiety and uncertainty,

Also, Congratulations to the following gentlemen who just received their First Degree in the Knights of Columbus of St. Thomas: A.J. Gaither, Tim Apo and Gabriel Fresquez

Sincerely,

Fr. George Pastor

Our Growing Catholic Community Continued...

Vocations

Through the years we have had different vocations from our parish. Just to name a few: Br. Paul Kelly, Sister Dan-ielle Garst, Fr. Scott Nobbe, and Deacon Tony Lewis. We have also helped to support the vocation of several priests through the years, including Fr. Joseph and 2 other young seminarians in Uganda and Fr. Martin.

Until 1982 the priest was in control of the parish and grounds with the help of the Men’s Club, Women’s Club, St. Ann’s Club and those he asked. When Father Kos be-came pastor he implemented the Parish Council and Com-mittees. There was a Steering Committee established to help structure our Parish Council. The new committees formed were: Administration Committee (Finance), Board of Education, Parish Life Committee, Social Action Com-mittee and Family Life Committee. The first Parish Council officers were: Tom Marten-president, Dick Dillon-Vice Pres-ident, Linda Wilson-Secretary, and Dave Garst-Treasurer. The committees remain roughly the same as when they were started in 1982.

Religious Education Programs

Prior to 1982 the Priest were in charge of our religious edu-cation program, with the help of the sisters and lay teach-ers. In 1982 when Father Kos came he established a lead-ership program for Religious Education. Gloria Whitaker, Janet Weidman, lead the program for awhile as volunteers. Christy Wilson was our first paid Administer of Religious Education, followed by Ron and Joni Greulich, Debbie Mi-chael, Charlotte Keuhr, Cheryl Woelfel, Lori Hersberger, Jenny Lear, and Theresa Werking. This program has been successful in part due to the efforts of our many teachers. The oldest lay CCD teacher in the parish is Mary Weir at 110 years.

“Suggested Guidelines” — As a reminder every person 18 years or older must abstain from meat/meat products all the Fridays of Lent. We also recommend spiritual stud-ies, beginning with the Scriptures as well as the traditional Lenten Devotions (Stations of the Cross, and the Rosary), and all the self-denial summed up in the Christian concept of “mortification.”
