LET’S EACH DO OUR PART! – The annual “Together in Mission” Archdiocesan campaign kicks off this week. This campaign has been carried out in our Archdiocese for several decades now to assist the poorer parishes and schools which cannot survive on their own. Most of you have already participated in the past and are familiar with it. As such, you should already have received a letter from the Archbishop recently about the campaign (or will receive one soon). Today we will be making our annual pledges of help. Please remember that this is not a second collection for a special mission appeal, etc. This is a formal campaign which requires a substantial commitment on the part of all of us. Over and over again, the people of St. John Chrysostom have shown their great generosity to those in need. I ask you this week to prayerfully re-flect upon what you want your commitment to this campaign to be for this year. Today we are conducting our pledge drive. Those of you who have made a pledge in the past should already have received your 2019 pledge card in the mail and can simply mail it in or drop it in the collection basket. Those who have not received their cards in the mail will have the opportunity to make a pledge today. It is very important that our parish meet its complete goal of $54,200.00. This is our portion of the total amount which needs to be raised in order to maintain the funding for the needy parishes. I urge you to prayerfully and carefully consider how much you are able to pledge this year to the Together in Mission Campaign. All of us have been blessed by the Lord in one way or another and know that we need to reach out to those who are needy. It is part of our responsibility to answer the Lord’s call to care for our neighbor. May God reward you for your generosity! RELIC PILGRIMAGE COMES TO OUR PARISH- A few weeks ago I was notified that our parish had been chosen as one of one 4 parishes in the Archdiocese to host the visiting Incorrupt Heart of St. John Vianney which is traveling throughout the United States at this time. This is a tremendous privilege for us. The event will take place as follows: Thursday, Feb. 21st Veneration of the Relic: 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Masses: 6:30 a.m. (Eng.), 8:00 a.m. (Eng. including the school children) and 6:15 p.m. (Spa.) Confessions: 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Knights of Columbus are hosting this tour and welcome this special opportunity to offer for veneration this relic of the patron of parish priests, whose holiness and integrity is a model for clergy and laity alike. Especially in this age of scandal, it is more vital than ever to pray, through the intercession of St. John Vi-anney for a renewal of the priesthood and for a growth in virtue among all of us. As we prepare for the opportunity to venerate the relic of this great saint, please pray for his intercession for your intentions and the success of the visit of his incorrupt heart to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. HAZ LA DIFERENCIA! - Nuestra campaña anual de “Unidos en Misión” da comienzo esta semana. Esta campaña se ha llevado a cabo en nuestra Arquidiócesis desde hace varias décadas para ayudar a las parro-quias más pobres y las escuelas que no pueden sobrevivir por si mismas. La mayoría de ustedes ya han par-ticipado en el pasado y están familiarizados con esta campaña. Como tal, usted ya debe de haber recibido una carta del Arzobispo esta semana acerca de la campaña. El día de hoy, haremos nuestros compromisos anuales de ayuda. Por favor, recuerde que esta no es una segunda colecta para una misión especial, etc. Se trata de una campaña formal, que requiere un compromiso importante de parte de todos nosotros. Una y otra vez, el pueblo de San Juan Crisóstomo ha mostrado su gran generosidad a los mas necesitados. Les pido que esta semana reflexionen en oración sobre lo que ustedes quieren que sea su compromiso en es-ta campaña este año. Hoy estamos llevando a cabo esta promesa. Aquellos de ustedes que han hecho una promesa en el pasado ya deberían de haber recibido su tarjeta del 2019 por correo y pueden simplemente enviarla por correo. Los que no han recibido sus cartas en el correo tendrán la oportunidad de hacer su pro-mesa el dia de hoy. Es muy importante que nuestra parroquia cumpla su objetivo total, de $ 54,200.00.
