TRANSCRIPT

We have experienced some very hot days in June and it looks like it is set to stay for the month of July also. Temperatures have soared into the late 20’s and are set to continue, If temperatures do it will be the longest spell of 30C daily temperatures since 1976, so it would be the longest heatwave since that summer.

Feeling hot in the garden?

Are you feeling hot? There's been quite a bit of heat lately. Perhaps you have realized that your garden has been planned to catch as much sun as possible. Shade seems unnecessary when the skies are generally grey. It’s not until the hot weather hits that we appreciate the value of cool, shady seats. They benefit from being situated in a part of the garden that is protected from sun.

Keep hydrated throughout the day, and find those shady spots to cool your body.

Sleeping at night in the hot weather!

• Open more windows in your house, allow the air to circulate. • Have a lukewarm shower before getting into bed. • Buy a fan to cool your room. • Use a cotton sheet instead of a quilt. • Keep curtains or blinds shut throughout the day, keeping the sun out. • Soak a cloth or spray cold water

Once on the coach we’re off – taking in the scenery and having a sing-a-long.

Arriving at ‘The Hut’ we made ourselves comfortable breathing in the sea air and enjoying a refreshing drink.

After a walk along the promenade we then made our way back to ‘The Hut’ to await our delivery of proper seaside fish and chips. There is nothing better that fish and chips by the seaside.

It seems that the seaside holds a special place in many people’s hearts, reminiscing about past seaside outings.

We have another trip to ‘The Hut’ planned on Tuesday 4th September – so please feel free to accompany your loved one. It’s a lovely day out with lunch included, please let reception know if you are interested.

FISH AND CHIPS

DOMINOS

A classic game of Dominos, keeps the brain active providing mental stimulation. Providing short games throughout the day also subsides restlessness and promotes us to use our

physical, emotional and sensory skills.

This is the first time that this band has played in front of an audience, they have recently got together and

hope to entertain us again in the near future.

The children all entered St Peters with a great big

smile on their faces, full of energy and excitement.

Cake decorating was the activity for this month,

with MT and Beryl helping with refreshments and a

little music.

After the cakes had been decorated the children

made their way around the lounge, and took great

interest in our Cockatiel ‘Joey’. Next planned visit

cactus.

WAVENEY BOAT CRUISE- BECCLES

Ahoy there mateys!!! The Beccles cruise was another day to remember. The gentle cruise down the broads was the perfect time to relax, take in the countryside and wildlife.

Katie who regularly comes in and plays the piano with her mum singing: hosted a tea party and invited some of our residents, there was lovely cakes amongst some great entertainment. They are raising money for ‘Alzheimer’s Research’ and are donating a proportion of the money to St Peters House. We are very grateful for this and hope

that Katie and her mum continue to entertain our residents with their music and singing.

Steph decided to get the jumbo chalks out and left it to the residents to create there

master pieces. MT felt creative after going on the Waveney boat cruise, Sheila drew her lovely house and Pamela was creative with

waves across her page.

IT WAS A VERY HOT DAY AND WE TRIED TO KEEP IN THE SHADE AS MUCH AS WAS POSSIBLE. MANY OF THE ANIMALS HAD THE SAME IDEA.. EVERYONE APPEARED TO HAVE A GREAT DAY AND THE AIR CONDITIONED BUS ON THE WAY

HOME WAS VERY WELCOMING.

Ali put a lot of time and energy into the preparation of the garden party, making this another enjoyable event for the residents and their families.

A big thank you to all those that gave up some of their weekend to come and support Ali and St Peters.

We managed to raise a total of £344.35 towards the residents funds – Well done Ali !
