Celebrating 160 YearsThis September 25, St. Patrick’s Church will be celebrating her

160th anniversary of the dedication of the church. The dedication of our church predates the Civil War, the Church’s solemn proclamation of the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception, the appearance of Our Lady of Lourdes to St. Bernadette, and the birth of St. Thérèse of Lisieux. A lot has happened in our history and there have been many graces over the years. Please join me for a special 6:30 p.m. Mass on that Wednesday evening, followed by a reception organized by the Pastoral Council.

St. Patrick’s Church has reached a new moment of her history as we welcome the Dominican Sisters of the Immaculate Conception to serve in our parish. Sr. Maria Vianney will be the new Assistant Director of Religious Education and Youth Ministry, living in the new St. Dominic Convent on East Broad Street with two other sisters. We are very blessed to welcome the Sisters to St. Patrick’s.

Enjoy these warm days of summer. May the good Lord bless you abundantly.

With my prayers,

Father Michael Mary Dosch, O.P.

The Order of Preachers, commonly known as the Dominicans, was founded in Southern France in 1216 by St. Dominic de Guzman. The Order is dedicated to the proclamation of the Word of God for the salvation of souls. The Dominican way of life consists of the vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, and attends to study as the basis for preaching. Dominican friars live in community, gathering each day for common prayer. There are over 6,000 Dominican friars worldwide. — Excerpt from Press release issued by Office of Vocations, Dominican House of Studies
