So even though we are at the end of summer, we are at the beginning of Fall! This Fall, we will start new programs and schedules. This is excing. A new focus and a new way of looking at Gods ministry through our children and our programs. Beginning on September 10 th , you will noce that dur- ing our 10 am Sunday Wor- ship, there will be all genera- ons in our sanctuary. The children will remain in the service, sing with their par- ents, from the opening pro- cession unl the end of Holy Eucharist. Aſter taking com- munion, they may be di- rected to follow their teach- ers to the classroom. We oſten imagine that having children in worship causes chaos, but it is a wonderful thing! I will do a childrens sermon every week and they will come to look forward and wait for their special message. For the wee chil- dren, we plan to open a nursery room next to the classrooms on the ground floor of the CEC building. Also, we have Angel Bags, located on the wall under the steps in the Narthex (foyer). The Angel Bags have crayons and paper/pictures to color. Soſt toys are also in some of the bags. Feel free to get one for your child and remember to put it back aſter church for the next week. Our Sunday School pro- gram has changed. With Phyllis and Paul rering from teaching, we decided to re- vamp our wonderful pro- gram and include some les- sons specific to the Episcopal Church; such as seasons and colors of the church year, following the Leconary, and all about Jesus! Under the direcon of Debby Shuler, and a few dedicated teach- ers, our children will be put into two groups, older and younger, with a focus to fit the age group. We see lots of fun ideas floang around in the Sunday School class- rooms. Parents, encourage your children to parcipate! This new schedule pro- vides a space for an Adult Forum at the Coffee Hour in Lacy Hall. This may not be an every Sunday occurrence but, depending on your response, we will invite speakers and teachers to present to you. Another change will be the introducon of younger chil- dren as Acolyte, so encourage your children, aged 10 or up, to become trained. St. Mary’s had a wonderful picnic at Nancy Or-th’s home and the weather cooperated beautifully with cloudy skies making it cool and comfortable, with no rain, on Sunday, August 6. It was lovely just getting there traveling the road south with gentle curves and rolling hills. Everyone brought delicious food and treats that made a banquet in the great outdoors. Even a “Bear”, Lowell’s beautiful dog, and “Whitney”, Nancy’s dog, joined the group making it a treat for everyone. Extra special was seeing and hearing the wings of a humming bird dart around the colorful flow-ers. And, you could easily imagine deer coming out of the woods approaching the wood fence. Thank you, Nancy Orth, for sharing your very special home with us.

We found a little bit of heaven here on Earth when we vacationed on St John in the U. S. Virgin Islands. The island is mostly National Park, small villages, pris-tine white beaches, good restaurants and duty-free shops. We stayed on Hart Beach in a villa with it's own pool, lovely views of the ocean and wonderful breez-es. Our children ran free to chase geckos, hermit crabs and to pick up sea glass and shells. We went there nine times. Fred and I joked that we'd like to have our final resting place on the island. Katrina recently had a vacation in Tam-pa, Florida. Before she left, she called to ask if she could have some of her dad's ashes to sprinkle in the Gulf of Mexico. She reasoned that would be as close to St. John as we could get, and that maybe

they would float to the Caribbean. I agreed, She came to Hillsboro to pick them up. The last morning she was at the beach, she went to a quiet area and prayed for her father, and thanked God for giving her a father who loved her no-matter-what. As she was finishing, it started to drizzle. She looked up and saw a rainbow. “Thank you, God, I'm going to take that as a sign that all is well with my father.” She started to walk away. But stopped to say, “God, I'd like to see a dolphin.” A dolphin jumped in front of her four times and swam off. “”Thank you, God! Now I know you really love me!”

Dolphins, Rainbows and Miracles

A Course in Miracles continues throughout the winter months. We meet each Monday at 2 pm in the Conference Room. A Course

in Miracles is a program to strengthen our understanding of God in our world and our response to God and the World. Lots of dis-

cussion and “outside the box” learning.

Homecoming Sunday: The children’s programs and the Adult Forum, mentioned in Rev Judi’s article, begins this Sunday. Bring a

friend, invite your neighbor and celebrate all that God will provide for us in the coming year! September 10th, 10am worship, Sun-

day School follows!

The Bishop has invited us to a Convocation (meaningful gathering) at Procter Conference Center in London, OH on Saturday, Sep-

tember 16th, beginning at 9 am. We’ve been invited to bring a group from St Mary’s. See Rev Judi if you are interested in attend-

ing.

Wanted:

Someone to trim the hedges in the Memorial Garden.

Someone to remove the hedges in the front of the church and CEC Building.

Someone to plan and plant a section of the dirt area on the path/sidewalk going up to the door to enter the hallway between

the church and CEC building. We would like this to be a Meditation Pathway and flowers would be lovely. See Rev Judi if

you have a suggestion or want to plant a section. Plaques and statues are welcomes. Benches would be perfect along the

wall.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Vestry for the 2018-2020 years, please let a current vestry person know.
