Joyful News St. Mary, Cause of our JOY Parishioners,
Well, the first weekend is behind us and I hope
the joy is still there. Now comes the work. But
before all that, I want to thank everyone who
helped this transition from three to one to a new
one. The transition team, the staff, the many
volunteers and helpers who, in the past weeks
and months, have helped us to become St. Mary,
Cause of our Joy. In just the past few weeks there have been so many
of you, parishioners and staff members as well as Knights and other
volunteers, who have spent hours and hours to help. A lot of muscle
work. A lot of brain work. A lot of stress work. Thank you so much.
Please know that God knows.
Thanks too to Bishop Reiss and Fr. Kris, who have led the parishes to
this point. I know that it hasn’t always been easy.
It’s still going to be bumpy for the next few weeks. I still haven’t
moved in; I want to wait to all the others moved out with all of their
“stuff”. Stuff is important for us. So I may be commuting for a week or
so. I also want to get to know the staff; I think that Bishop Reiss did a
great job in hiring them and I look forward to working together.
I also need to get to know the Pastoral Council. These members have
volunteered to help us move forward as a parish. They are your
representatives right now. If you have concerns, please let them know.
Or myself.
Please say a prayer of thanksgiving for all of those who have given their
time and talents to bring us to where we are right now.
God Bless.

The First Step
Being a disciple means being constant-
ly ready to bring the love of Jesus to
others…. The first step is personal
dialogue, when the other person
speaks and shares his or her joys,
hopes, and concerns for loved ones, or
so many other heartfelt needs. Only
afterward is it possible to bring up
God’s word, perhaps by reading a Bi-
ble verse or relating a story, but al-
ways keeping in mind the fundamental
message: the personal love of God
who became man, who gave himself
up for us, who is living and who offers
us his salvation and his friendship.
- Evangelii Gaudium
Reflection: When we think of evange-
lization, we have to first think of mer-
cy. How can we care for the person
with whom we are talking? How can
we listen to their joys, hopes, and con-
cerns? Start with mercy in introducing
them to our merciful Father.

Sunday Missals If you would like
to order a beautiful Sunday Missal for 2017 just let
me know in writing or a phone message. I believe the
total cost will be about $3.25-$3.50. I can also
order at a significant discount Children’s Sunday
Missals for about $7.00 each. I wish I had samples
to show you. They are gorgeous and include all of the
Sunday Readings, prayers, and a little catechism of
sorts for children. They begin with the new church
year on the First Sunday of Advent – Nov. 27, 2016.
The Missals usually arrive around Halloween.
Open Registration If you know of any children
eligible to attend Faith Formation this coming
September, please let me know. We definitely have
room for children in grades 1-8. We would love to
provide some Early Childhood religion readiness if we
have parishioners willing to step up and help with this
rewarding ministry. Please let me know of your
interest and if you have children in pre-school and
Kindergarten who would benefit from this.

COME ALL YEAR – COME WHEN YOU CAN! No Charge!
Session 3: The Early Church in the 3rd & 4th Centuries - 220-337:
*We will explore the early Church in the third and early fourth centuries.
*We will examine the persecutions of the Christians, why Christianity was outlawed,
and how the Church moved from being a persecuted minority to having a “most fa-
vored status” among the religions of the empire.
*We will examine the conversion of the Roman emperor Constantine and discuss the
significance of this conversion for the fortunes of later Christianity.
These developments had enormous consequences for the history of Western civiliza-
tion, as the Church became the dominant religious, political, social, cultural and eco-
nomic institution of Europe and the New World. Truly fascinating material! All wel-
come!

NOVENA TO ST. ANNE
Saint Anne is, and has been, the patroness of us Mariannhill Missionaries since our
beginning in 1909. She is now also officially the patroness of the Archdiocese of
Detroit. We can be confident she will lend a ready ear to our prayers, for now we
have a double claim to her intercession!
We Mariannhill Missionaries and Leaves magazine will hold our annual novena to
Saint Anne this month from July 17, Sunday, to July 25, Monday. The worship
service begins each evening at 7:30pm. It starts with Exposition of the Blessed
Sacrament, continues with a short sermon, prayers and litany to Saint Anne, and ends
with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. It lasts about half an hour. The evening
closes with individual veneration of her relic. We cordially invite all members of this
parish to attend this novena and join us in our prayers.
These services are held in our large chapel – at the bell tower. We are located on
the south side of Ann Arbor Trail just east of Telegraph Road, tel: 313.561.7140;
email: [email protected].
David Daleiden—
PRO-LIFE VICTORY!
Great news! David
Daleiden has had the first
indictment against him
DISMISSED by Judge
Diane Bull. From the Center for Medical
Progress: “Judge Diane Bull’s swift
dismissal of the bogus charge against
CMP founder David Daleiden of
trafficking human organs is the latest
confirmation that the indictments from a
runaway grand jury in Houston were a
politically-motivated sham all along. In
finding that the indictment was void on
its face, Judge Bull’s ruling directly
contradicts the District Attorney’s
argument that the indictment was valid
despite the DA’s collusion with
Planned Parenthood. The dismissal of
the first indictment today sends a strong
message to Planned Parenthood and their
political cronies that colluding to
suppress the First Amendment rights of
citizen journalists will never work. The
Center for Medical Progress follows all
applicable laws in the course of its
investigative journalism work and as
more details about Planned
Parenthood’s contracts for aborted
baby parts come to light, it’s clear that
Planned Parenthood and their business
partners like StemExpress are the ones
who are guilty of trafficking in human
body parts.” info: LIFESPAN
