SUNDAY DONATIONS: During this time when the col-lection basket would not be passing around the church during Mass you can place your Sunday dona-tions in the square box in the church or mail them to the church office: St Mary Church PO Box 118 Siloam Springs, AR 72761. Be mindful that while many of us cannot at-tend Mass at this time, we can still save and mail our offertory gift to our parish or bring it with us when we are able to return, to continue the mission of our Church.

As we resume our public Masses at phase 1 of the COVID-19 pandemic we must ob-serve certain guidelines. Therefore, in order to serve our community better and work with the best logistic possible, we would like for you to call the parish office 479-524-8526 if you are planning to participate at any of our Masses. At this point we can only make use of 14 pews. Our dispensation for Sunday Mass is still being granted by our Bishop indefinitely. If we runout of our lim-ited space due to required 6 ’physical dis-tancing, you may try to attend some of our weekday Masses as an option. Please make sure to revise some of the guidelines for attending Mass, such as wearing a mask to cover your mouth and nose, sanitizing your hands as you come in, avoid attendance if you do not feel well or have been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19, etc. Upon your arri-val our ushers will take you to your seat. So please follow their instructions. Thanks for your understanding during these challeng-ing times.

SEARCH # 148 RETREAT Registrations are now being accepted for Search #148, a retreat to help juniors and seniors in high school get to know themselves better, deepen their friendship with Christ, and find support in living out their faith. For more information and registration forms visit o u r w e b s i t e at: https://www.dolr.org/sites/default/files/documents/search-148.pdf. Beginning Tuesday May 12, we are going to start having Mass in the church. We will fol-low all the safety precautions from Bishop An-thony Taylor. Phase I Restrictions: • Come to Mass wearing masks: All Partici-pants, including children over 10 years of age, must wear masks or other covering of their mouth and nose. • If you signed up to come to Come to church early: We can only provide seats for 25% of the church capacity. • Do not give the sign of peace by hand. • Holy Communion will be one specie only; there will not be the Blood of Christ. • Holy Communion will not be distributed on the tongue. • There won’t be blessings for those who don’t receive Holy Communion: If you can’t receive Holy Communion, please do not go in the line to the altar. • Respect the 6ft. distance. • Please listen and respect the directions and guidelines from the ushers: The ushers have been trained by Father Salvador with all the requirements from the Diocese of Little Rock. • If you are sick, or you don’t feel well, or you think that you were close to someone that was positive with COVID-19, please stay home. • Attending weekday Mass in lieu of Sunday when Sunday Mass in unavailable.

The Sunday Mass obligation remains sus-pended indefinitely for all people, not only for those who cannot attend due to a parish’s crowd-reduction measures. Even so, all people remain obligated to “keep on-ly the Lord’s Day”, which they can do in any of a large variety of ways, including the fol-lowing: • Sunday participation in Mass can be live streamed, or with TV-active participation, not just passive viewing. • Attending weekday Mass in lieu of Sun-day when Sunday Mass in unavailable. • Private prayer for an hour- which is the amount of time you would have spent at Mass, mediating on Scripture readings for the Sunday Mass, praying the Rosary, the Liturgy of the Hours, novena prayers, etc.

With all the current changes, please check for any new changes using our communication resource places.

Drivers Needed for OCA Ozark Catholic Academy High School in Tontitown is looking for part-time drivers for both school vans and a bus during the school year. Bus driver would need a CDL license. If you are interested in the different routes and times available and would like more information, please contact Brendan Wiley at 479-692-1671 or email him at [email protected].

Recently, another round of SCAM E-MAILS has gone out impersonating Bishop Taylor. These scam emails use a fake “gmail” account and even include a picture of him. One of these is particularly insidious, since it references a priest being diagnosed with COVID-19 (which is false), in an attempt to scare the recipient into thinking that Bishop Taylor needs immedi-ate financial help. It should go without saying that Bishop Taylor will NEVER contact any-one personally asking for gift cards, mon-ey, or other financial assistance. Please do not respond to any such emails; delete them immediately.

Father Salvador is celebrating Mass now at church and some Masses are transmitted by Facebook live. English: Tue. at 12pm, Thurs. at 6pm and Sundays at

9am. Spanish: Wed. at 7pm, Fri. at 7pm and Sunday at 12noon. You don't need a Face-book account to view the Mass. Just go to https://facebook.com/StMary-SiloamSprings-100137671646410/

The Ascension of the Lord What does faith and religion do for us? Ultimately, they remind us of some truths we conveniently forget: we are created by a loving God, we have imperfections, we sin, we need to be forgiven, we have a mis-sion and a purpose, it’s not just about us, and we hunger for the joy of salvation. These are human truths that are not de-pendent upon whether we like them. Ignor-ing them places us on the paths of comfort and satisfaction as we blindly pursue the busyness and superficiality of our empty lives. Instead of pursuing supernatural and lasting pleasure, we choose things that are easier and quicker to obtain: sex, drugs, travel, houses, cars, fame, popularity, self-achievement and satisfaction, physical en-joyment, and the like. We may also find ourselves falling victim to more negative responses to what life brings us: anger, envy, lust, pride, glut-tony, greed, and apathy. Human hearts can become so hardened to the truth that violence becomes the response of first choice. Being a Christian is hard! Yet, as Pope Francis reminds us, the Church needs to be a field hospital that has to be pre-pared to provide people with the remedy they need. What we need is Jesus Christ. The Church, with all of the glory of the sac-raments, exists to help make Christ present and real for us. Once we find Christ, we find joy. Joy is a matter of the heart that is be-yond pleasure and happiness. It is not found in some earthly satisfaction, only in Christ. Once we accept that we are des-tined to be in Christ, then we will discover eternal life. Namely, “that they should know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ.” It is easy to conven-iently forget truth and pursue illusions imme-diately within our grasp, but at what price? A man celebrating 60 years of marriage re-marked that it took so much effort and so many attempts to convince his wife that they were meant to be together. Even his friends told him he was foolish. He easily could have given up and pursued other in-terests. He chose to persevere and is so grateful that he made that choice be-cause he now has a pearl of great price. Do we see a value in persevering in our

faith regardless of the cost? If we don’t take the risk, we could lose more than we know.
