SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
CATHOLIC CHURCH
16101 Rotunda Dr.
Dearborn, MI 48120
FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK By Fr. Terry Kerner
November is truly a month of remembrance. Last week we recalled
the blessings and influence of all saints and recognized their holiness in
the lives of the faithful departed - especially our loved ones who entered
eternal life since last All Souls Day. Later this month as a nation we will
celebrate Thanksgiving for all our blessings. This weekend we honor our
Veterans and the service they have rendered - for our community and
country.
Nowadays, perhaps more than ever, we need to acknowledge the ser-
vice and sacrifice of first responders and the importance of those in the
Armed Forces currently serving and in past generations. Perhaps the fol-
lowing prayer will help us do so.
A Prayer for Veterans
Dear Lord,
We honor our veterans, worthy men and wom-
en who gave their best when they were called to
serve and protect their country.
We pray that you will bless them for their un-
selfish service in the continual struggle to pre-
serve our freedoms, our safety, and our country’s
heritage for all of us.
Bless them abundantly for the hardships they
faced for the sacrifices they made for their many
different contributions to America’s victories over
tyranny and oppression.
We respect them, we thank them, we honor
them, and we are proud of them. We pray Lord that you will watch
over these special people and bless them with peace, happiness,
and the knowledge of our love for them. Amen
Have a good week and be thankful.

FAITH FORMATION By Grace Lakatos
FAITH FORMATION: As we enter the month of November, our Faith
Formation families took the time to pray to and for our deceased loved ones on
All Souls’ Day. Thank you to all the families who provide pictures of their
loved ones and to the catechists and aides who assisted in the prayer service.
SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION CLASSES: Please continue to
keep our 6 students, their parents and their catechists in your prayers as they
continue their journey to the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Confirmation.
Our next class will meet on Monday, December 2
nd
at 6 PM.
RCIA: Our parish continues to be blessed in the participation in the
joint RCIA program along with Sacred Heart, St. Sebastian and St. Albert the
Great. We continue to meet here each Wednesday night in preparation of the
full initiation of these adults at the Easter Vigil. One parishioner from St Ka-
teri is currently preparing for the reception of Eucharist and Confirmation.
Please keep them and their sponsors and families in your prayers.
HONORING YOUR LOVED ONES AT CHRISTMAS
In today’s bulletin you will find the 2019 Flower Tribute
form. You may also you use the envelope enclosed in the
December packet. The suggested price is $10 per name
or family name. We encourage you to list the family
name rather than each individual name. It will save
you money. One very beautiful plant can represent the
entire family. You can submit an individual name for
each plant if this is your wish. It is very important to
PRINT the names clearly so we do not have to call you
for clarification.
Remember our deadline is December 2
nd
.

cards, and such. Envelopes can be addressed as one of the following: Military
Man, Military Woman, Military Family, Military Personnel or Veteran. Cards

RECOGNIZE GOD IN YOUR ORDINARY MOMENTS
By Tracy Earl Welliver
Thanksgiving Day Is Coming!
Thanksgiving will be here before you know it, and you will soon be say-
ing, “Pass me the mashed potatoes, please.” This November holiday has
its roots in American history and has grown into a day where we remem-
ber all the things for which we are thankful: country, family, friends,
health, etc. Unfortunately, we can find ourselves so caught up with trav-
el plans and buying the perfect turkey or ham that we let the day pass us
by, and all we can focus on is how much we ate and who won the day’s
football games. That’s why it is time NOW to begin reflecting daily of all
things, great and small, that we are thankful for in life.
Gratitude is a key characteristic of a good Everyday Steward, but it does
not develop in us without effort. In the coming days, we can contemplate
all those things God has given us. If it helps, we can create a written list
and bring it with us to the Thanksgiving dinner table. The point is that
too often we take so many gifts for granted, and unless we pause and
purposely reflect, we miss the chance to give thanks. A healthy and
hearty heart filled with gratitude can make the highs in life that much
higher and the lows easier to bear. Increased gratitude will also bring us
closer to the source of all those good gifts, our God.

So, what will Thanksgiving be like for you this year? You have some time
to make it something more than it has been in the past. The choice is
yours.
