Padre Pio knew that he was going to be a priest since he was five years old. Not only did Pio become a priest, but he also became one of the greatest mystics of the modern age. To this holy man God would give many supernatural graces. He had the ability to read souls, bilocate, and levitate; he had the stigmata, the gift of healing, the smell of sanctity, etc. His gifts were numerous, but what was most awe inspiring were his faith in God despite countless sufferings and rejec-tions and his great love and devotion to the Holy Mass. It was at the altar of sacrifice that one sees most clearly the mystical life of Saint Pio. At the altar he would be present in an extraordinary way, opening a window into the mystery of faith. As the faithful looked on in awe, it was as if Padre Pio was truly seeing and experiencing all the sorrows of the passion and crucifixion. The pain and sorrow on his face and his copious tears turned many sinners away from leading sinful lives and return back to the Church and the Eucharist. The two pillars of Padre Pio’s life were Our Lady and the Eucharist, motivating this humble friar to spend his life in prayer, celebrating Mass, and hearing con-fessions. Speaking of Padre Pio’s commitment to the Eucharist and confession, Pope Benedict XVI said, “a total willingness to accept the faithful, especially sinners, flowed from love for the Eucharist” (June 21, 2009). Padre Pio suffered the stigmata, the bleeding wounds of Christ, for fifty years. The wounds vanished after his death. Padre Pio died on Sept 23, 1968.

TIME AND TALENT WEEKEND SEPTEMBER 25TH AND 26TH
We need your help!!
Many volunteers for the various ministries in this parish have moved, become ill, or just can't minister anymore. The minis-tries of Usher, Reader, Eucharistic Minister, and many, many more are very short of help. These ministries require only the commitment of going to mass which you already do. Please stop by the tables in the narthex the weekend of Sept.25th and 26th and there will be representa-tives there to answer any questions you may have and there will be a ministry booklet for you to take home. Please consider signing up. Training is minimal and will be provided.

Time, Talent & Treasure Fostering Stewardship as a way of life This week’s Stewardship of Time & Talent Salute
In gratitude of God’s gifts of time and talent to us, we grate-fully acknowledge and salute: Lizbeth Quintanilla
Who have donated countless hours of hard work, dedication and devotion to the parish.
Stewardship Thought for the Week Our readings today all address the same issue: the im-portance of faith in God. In a world where it is easy to grow lax in our faith, the Scriptures urge us to keep our faith active and strong. We do this by praying each day, attending Mass, being strengthened by the Sacraments, and by asking for forgiveness when we sin.
