Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Can you imagine a wheel without

a center? A center is necessary for

balance and for smooth running. Some people

however, try to live without a center and because

of this they have no direction, no balance in life.

The feast of Christ the King reminds us that Jesus is

our center. This feast comes on the last Sunday of

the Church year, right before the season of Advent.

Fr. Dan

Hello friends,

Women of the parish, would you like to join me in a daily reflection during Advent? I found the study, “Under Bethlehem’s Star,” on a website, Heart of Mary, Women’s Fellowship. Check them out at www.heartofmarywf.com. I have placed several copies of the booklet on the table in the gathering space and encourage you to take one. I will host an email group for all who are interested in sharing our thoughts and insights each day. Let me know if you’d like to join the email group and I will add your name. [email protected]. Even if you don’t want to be part of the email group, take a booklet and do the reflections!

Attention Altar Servers! We are having training during both sessions of PREP this Wednesday, November 28th. This is open to all kids 3rd grade and above, with or without previous training. Fr. Dan is excited to share his experience with this important ministry. The kids will have some slightly different roles, so they will all want to come to this training. On the table in the gathering space are the forms for parents to fill out, giving your child permission to be trained and with your preference for Mass times. Please encourage your kids to serve – we believe it’s a great opportunity to grow in their faith!

Prayers, please? The second graders will be participat-ing in their First Reconciliation next Saturday. What an important day in their lives! Please pray for hope, peace and in thanksgiving for our children, their families and our priests.

Advent, already! I can’t believe it’s almost Advent! Do you have an Advent Wreath in your home? If not, why not? I encourage you to get one and to make yourself and your children aware of this new year in our church calendar. A great way to be reminded of each day of the Advent season is to sign up for the daily emails at www.bestadventever.com. This is a free service by Matthew Kelley at Dynamic Catholic, and it really keeps me focused on the true meaning of the season. Have a blessed week! Melissa

And wait, there’s more…. →

Next fall, we are going to be adding a new program to our religious education lineup. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is a Montessori based program, that we will be offering to children ages 3-6 years old. I am thrilled to be offering this next year, as this is very near to my heart. I have been trained in each level of the program and my graduate degree has a concentration in the work. Also, Deacon Kelly Stone’s wife, Maureen, has been working in the program for over a decade and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. We will be having an information session in the early spring, for all who have 3-6 year old children, or who want to learn more about CGS. I am excited to talk to anyone who is interested in becoming a trained catechist. The training for this program is very good and will be offered over the spring and summer to prepare for the fall. Watch the bulletin, the Facebook page, and the Faith Formation table in the gathering space, for more information, or ask me or Maureen. Feel free to look it up in the meantime with a Google search or at www.cgsusa.org.

then you are probably full of yourself.”
