Registration for the 2018/2019 school year has begun Summer R.E. Office hours and registration is as follows: Friday’s 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Saturday’s 9:00 am until Noon. Registrations can be done during office hours until Septem-ber 15th or on Sunday, August 19th 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm Please bring in insurance information and your child’s bap-tismal certificate for each child being registered. A payment is expected at time of registration. Classes begin on Saturday, September 22nd for grades Kindergarten Thru 5th grade and on Monday, September 24th for 6th thru 8th grades The office will be closed on Friday, August 17th and Satur-day August 18th. Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time We may be tempted to believe that God is not always with us. Yet the opposite is true. Elijah discovered that the Lord was with him, and God Strengthened him. Jesús assures us of his presence when he feeds us with the bread of life. As we grow in faith, we are invited to taste and see God’s goodness in our lives. The deepest hunger and yearnings of the human heart are satisfied when we turn to Christ. Jesús, the living bread come down from heaven, gives us the gift of himself in the Eucharist. This allows us to draw closer to him and receive the grace to live as his followers. It is Jesús who gives us a peace the world cannot give. He imbues our lives with meaning and offers us the promise and hope of eternal life in heaven.

FORGIVENESS These days, we find ourselves in a bitterly divided nation and a divided Church. We may see ourselves as both right and righteous, but we need to take a closer look at both ourselves and others before we make judgments. It is cer-tainly possible that we are right and the other side quite wrong, but we must be aware, with humility, that we may be the ones who are wrong about many things. Even if we are in the right, Saint Paul reminds us that “All bitterness, fury, anger, shouting, and reviling must be removed from you, along with all malice.” To be right is of no conse-quence if we are constantly condemning and ridiculing our “opponents” in the world and in the Church. “And be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another as God has forgiven you in Christ,” says Saint Paul. So “do not grieve the Holy Spirit.”

FOOD OF LIFE “Christ loved us and handed himself over for us as a sacri-ficial offering to God.” Jesus speaks of himself as the “bread of life.” He teaches that those who come to him are called by God, and that he himself is the only one who has seen God; if we believe, we will be raised on the last day. If we think we are right only because we believe we are right, based on our own knowledge, we kid ourselves. If we be-lieve we are right because we follow the writings of others who boast of their knowledge of God but do not show it in kindness and love for others, we are fools. If we condemn others because they do not believe as we do, we condemn ourselves for not following the humble and gentle Jesus. We must be kind, and always remember that “They shall all be taught by God.” Judge not, for as Jesus tells us, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; who-ever eats this bread will live forever . . . whoever be-lieves has eternal life.”
