First Reading: Sirach 27:30—28:7 Sirach advises all to forgive the faults of their neighbor. Only by forgiving the sins of others, can a person expect to be forgiven his sins. Second Reading: Romans 14:7-9 Paul stresses that no one is his own master; we are responsible to the Lord, and we belong to him in both life and death. Gospel: Matthew 18:21-35 This narrative points out the difference between mercy and justice. When Peter asks how often he should forgive someone who wrongs him, Jesus answers, “…not seven times: I say seventy times seven times.” Jesus then narrates the story of the king who was merciful to his official by forgiving him all his debts, but this same official showed no mercy to his own servant.

Father Ciszek Day 2020 will be VIRTUAL- In the best interest of everyone’s safety, the Father Walter Ciszek Prayer League has decided to cancel this year’s annual in-person Father Ciszek Day celebration. While we are still as dedicated as ever to promoting the Cause of Father Ciszek’s Canonization, the health of our people had to come first. A Mass will still be celebrated on Sunday, October 18th at 2:00 PM and livestreamed on our Facebook Page and website (www.ciszek.org) so that everyone can unite in prayer from the comfort of their own home. The co-postulator, Rev. Eugene Ritz, will celebrate the Mass and Rev. David Kozak of the Diocese of Allentown will be the homilist. Concelebrants of the Mass will include Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian and Rev. Jeffrey Walsh. Prior to the Mass, a virtual tour of the “Father Ciszek Center” will be presented beginning at 1:30 PM. We appreciate your understanding during these difficult times. Be assured of the Prayer League’s prayers for the safety and well-being of you and your families and for an end to this global pandemic.
