SEVEN STEPS TO BETTER CONVERSATIONS Our times are divisive, and we – as Catholics – have an obligation to engage with our community and political process and to do so with a well-formed conscience, a spirit of compassion, and the skills to enter conversations with civility and peace. As we move to-ward November's election St. Helen's will be offering several opportunities we hope will help you do just this. First, please pick up one of these booklets in the church at the parish office while they are available. It offers numerous suggestions for engaging others in civil con-
versation - not just on political issues, but on any difficult subject. We will be hosting a parish conversa-tion on this book later in October - date to soon follow.
And then also, check out one of the following two online conversations being offered by the arch-diocesan Social Action office: The first, on Sunday, 9/13 at 10:30 a.m. is titled "Elections 2020: Voting and Catholic Social Teach-ing." It will connect Catholic Social Teaching with our call to participate in the election process (utilizing the USCCB document Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship), and how we can ap-proach these divisive times with civility, clarity, and compassion. The link to join the conversation is https://catholiccincinnati.zoom.us/j/94027513984 The next online conversation, "Approaching the Election with Faith and Civility" will take place Tues-day, September 22nd at 7 p.m. In partnership with the organization Braver Angels (braverangels.org), archdiocesan staff people will teach skills to communicate with people who differ from us politically and explore how we can do so with our faith as our guide. Join in at https://catholiccincinnati.zoom.us/j/94428908376 for this highly interactive event!
TWENTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
CATCH THE BUILDING
SPIRIT BUILD
UPDATE Just over ten weeks work have
been completed at the Catch the Building Spirit house. This week over 5,000 square feet of drywall will be delivered. All the building trades have com-pleted rough installation work, and the key framing inspection will be this week. Insulation can be in-stalled after the framing inspection, then drywall is installed. There is still a lot to do, but thanks to volun-teers who work hard, much has been accomplished. You can help us finish the project with a dona-tion of time or a contribution at https:/catchthebuildingspiirit.org. This is “the year of lifting up others.” Thank you for your help! To volunteer, signup at https:/ daytonhabitat.org./how-to-help/volunteer.html.
ALL ARE INVITED! ST. HELEN RELIGIOUS EDUCATION Religious Educa-tion will be of-fered on a virtual

Each Sunday beginning at 10:45 a.m. your child’s teacher will host a short Zoom meeting consisting of prayer and an introduction to the weekly lesson. Registration is now open! Visit https://www.sthelenparish.org/religious-education.html to register for the 2020-2021 year. Please call or email Deb in the parish office with any questions, 937.254.6233 or [email protected].
We remember
all who lost their lives
on September 11, 2001 —
nineteen years ago —
all those who
continue to mourn for
them, and all those who showed
great courage in the face of danger and destruction.
Lord, may we not be
afraid of or hate one
another. May we all be ONE in you and serve as
instruments of your peace.
