Christ in the community by living the work of our faith with strength and humility. We do this through the Eucharist by

promoting a sense of belonging to all age groups from youth to seniors, with many ministries available through stewardship.

PLEASE JOIN US FOR PALM SUNDAY - NEXT SUNDAY..Next Sunday is Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord which marks

our entrance into the holiest week of the year, the Great Week.

At 9:45 AM parishioners are encouraged to take part in the Annual

Ecumenical service on the Green with the members of the First

Congregational Church and Christ Episcopal Church.

Our own celebration will begin immediately following when we again

gather in front of Saint George Church (weather permitting) for thedistribution and blessing of palm branches.

Then all process into the church following the celebrant, just as the crowds followed Jesus into

Jerusalem on that first Palm Sunday. In the procession, unlike all others, we follow the celebran

    into the Church.

Let us recall that we follow Christ, represented by the celebrant, into Holy Week in order to di

and rise to new life with him. Jesus once entered into the City of Jerusalem in order to die on th

cross and rise from the dead. So now He enters into Holy Week in order to relive his passion

death and resurrection in each one of us through the sacramental ceremonies of Holy Thursday

Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday evening.

Defending Our Religious Liberty #4By not adhering to the health care insurance mandate, religious institutions will be subjected to exorbitant fines, which could force them into bankruptcy. Have you and yourfamily considered how this country would be impactedwithout Catholic hospitals, which make up one-sixth of the

hospital work force, and the nearly 7,000 Catholicelementary schools and high schools that educate ourchildren? Have you thought about the effect it will have onthe 250 Catholic colleges across the United States, andCatholic Charities, which employs over 70,000employees? The ramifications are devastating. Help us getthis mandate rescinded. Please contact the offices of yourCongressional Representatives and United States Senators toexpress your opposition to the mandate. RCIA NEWS: PLEASE TAKE A PRAYER CARD

Please join us as we continue to pray for our elect: Kelly Bee, Ashley Hoffman, Peter Perkins,Tracy Salvo and Stewart Thomas. And we also pray for Kevin OKeefe, who will receive thesacrament of Confirmation on March 31st. Our prayers make a difference in the lives of our sixRCIA candidates. Would you be willing to remember one of them in a more personal way? AtMasses this weekend, youll notice baskets of prayer cards at all entrances. Please take a card andduring the final 2 weeks of Lent, recite the prayer for the RCIA person named on your card. This Sunday, March 25th at the 11:30 am Mass, we will hold our Third Scrutiny rite. This is thelast of three srutinies weve celebrated during Lent in order to deliver the elect from the power of sin and Satan,

to protect them against temptation, and to give them strength in Christ. The scrutinies help all of us during Lentto look inward and recognize our need for repentance.

St. George Mens Retreat -The Courage to Hope: Finding God in All Things is the theme for the 2011-2012 retreseason at Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center in West Hartford. Sometimes its easy to experience Gods presence in thworld; feelings of peace remind us we are not alone. But other times we may feel God is absent, and we may lose ougrounding in the faith that has sustained us. Becoming agents of hope in a world of distraction, pessimism and busynestakes great courage. We will explore how Gods presence, hidden in every moment of life, equips us to be courageous anhopeful for ourselves and others. Check our website for more details, www.holyfamilyretreat.org. or call Roger Celesk (20457-1096) or Roger Richard (203-457-0290). The Guilford Men's retreat is the weekend of April 20-22, 2012.
