Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there is hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope;

where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. Grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in

pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen. St. Francis of Assisi (1181-1226)

Governance Model

Executive Positions:

• Chair (Catholic Chair Required) – Runs the meetings and sets agendas in collaboration with the Principal. Attends 3 Ward meetings per year. Attends Council of School Councils (CTR meetings that include all Chairs of schools in our Ward….3 times a year).

• Vice-Chair – Stands in when Chair can’t do any of the things above. • Secretary – Takes notes at each meeting and prepares meeting minutes for the next meeting. • Treasurer – Keeps track of fundraising dollars raised and keeps basic books. (All accounts are

through the school so the Principal is very involved in this. If School Council or a committee of School Council raise money, it goes into a school account and the treasurer simply keeps note of what’s raised and what’s spent. In some cases, the school will collect all cash, i.e. the Dedicate a Room Initiative, and all the treasurer does is make reports on what the Principal provides him/her).

• Teacher representative – attends meetings and gives a brief report about the happenings of the school each month.

Assembly:

• Any and all parents who wish to attend. Some schools try and get a representative from each grade who agree to attend every meeting to ensure diversity.

Committees that require chairperson:

• Fundraising Coordinator – This person agrees to lead in whatever extra legwork is required to help develop and promote fundraising initiatives. For example, we’ll do all the work on the Dedicate a Room Initiative, but if extra promotion is needed the coordinator does this. The Fundraising Coordinator might also initiate, organize, and promote other fundraising initiatives such as spell-a-thons, family dances, carnivals, etc.

• Hot Lunch Coordinator – This person works closely with the Principal and they may do the leg work to source out hot lunch providers. The job can be as big or as small as you make it.

• Other??
