We fast in Lent to allow our physical hunger to remind us of our spiritual hunger and our need for God.

•Fasting ~ One full meal (with minimum food at other two mealtimes) and no food in-between meals (for people 18-59 years of age)

•Abstinence ~ Not eating meat (14 years & older ) •All Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS

The Stations of the Cross will begin on Wednesday, March 8th at 7:00 pm. We will not have soup this year.

MINISTRY FOCUS

Faith and Formation:

A portion of the Bishop’s Appeal goes to help fund the Faith and Formation of our parish communities and many more in the diocese. Programs such as CYO, young adult ministries, and marriage preparation are just a few ministries funded by the Appeal.

As we go forth “United in Faith,” it is the responsibility of all Catholics to grow deeper in relationship with God and become more faithful stewards of His gifts as we also share our faith in mission to all people.

Help for All Parishes:

100% of all funds collected over an individual parish’s goal are returned directly to the parish. In 2016 Appeal, 36 parishes exceeded their Appeal goal. Parishes are set to get their rebate checks by the end of February

We hope to see even more parishes exceed their goal in 2017!

Youth Ministry Pancake/Waffle

Breakfast

Please support our 2nd Year Confirmation Candidates together with their sponsors at the Youth Ministry Pancake/Waffle Breakfast on Sunday 3/12/17. Proceeds will help fund their Retreat on May 5-7, 2017 at Mount Hermon.

Sống Mùa Chay, 40 ngày Sa Mạc Tâm Linh Mùa Chay là mùa hồng ân Thiên Chúa mời gọi chúng ta trở về với Ngài, dựa vào sức mạnh và quyền năng của Thiên Chúa để chiến đấu với những cám dỗ, những thử thách mà chúng ta phải chống chọi mỗi ngày trong cuộc sống . Nền tảng của mọi sự là Lời Chúa, mà trong Mùa này, chúng ta được mời gọi chuyên chăm, lắng nghe và suy gẫm Lời Chúa: “ Người ta sống không nguyên bởi bánh, nhưng bởi mọi Lời do miệng Thiên Chúa phán ra”. Hãy dùng Lời Chúa như lương thực hằng ngày.

Khi mệt mỏi “Người ăn chay ròng rã bốn mươi đêm ngày, và sau đó, Người thấy đói. Bấy giờ tên cám dỗ đến gần Người và nói: “Nếu ông là Con Thiên Chúa thì truyền cho những hòn đá này hoá bánh đi!” (Mt 4:2-3)Một trong các dấu hiệu quan trọng nhất mà bạn bị tấn công là lúc bạn cảm thấy mệt mỏi, chính sự mệt mỏi khiến bạn chán nản và ngăn cản bạn làm những điều Thiên Chúa muốn. Khi bạn làm việc quá độ, hoặc say sưa trong những thú vui làm thể lý lẫn tinh thần yếu nhược, bạn hãy dành thời giờ đến với Chúa, nghỉ ngơi trong Chúa và cầu nguyện. Khi bối rối “ Tôi sẽ cho ông tất cả thế gian này, hãy phục lạy ta” . Có lời chép” Ngươi hãy thờ lạy một mình Thiên Chúa” Trong cuộc tấn công tinh thần, ma quỷ dùng nhiều mưu kế để đè nén tâm trí bạn và làm cho bạn cảm thấy bối rối. Những lúc đó, cuộc đối thoại đơn giản với người khác, có thể chuyển thành xung đột, và ý tưởng đơn giản trong đầu của bạn có thể biến thành cảm xúc tiêu cực. Những lúc như vậy, điều quan trọng là bạn phải đọc Thánh Kinh và sống Lời của Ngài Khi đau khổ “ Nếu ông là Con Thiên Chúa, thì hãy lao mình xuống đi.” (Mt. 4, 5) Có Lời chép, “ngươi đừng thử thách Thiên Chúa” Khi bạn đang chiến đấu với bệnh tật, gặp rắc rối trong các mối quan hệ, những tai nạn bất ngờ xảy đến, ma quỷ sẽ làm cho bạn nghi ngờ rằng không biết có Thiên Chúa hay không? Thiên Chúa thực sự có tốt lành hay không? Trong những lúc đó, bạn tìm kiếm Thiên Chúa sẽ lấy lại được bình an. Khi cảm thấy cô đơn “Đức Giêsu được Thần Khí dẫn vào hoang địa để chịu quỷ cám dỗ” (Mt 4:1). Ma quỷ biết Chúa Giêsu ở một mình nên nó cám dỗ Ngài. Ma quỷ có thể phát hiện khi nào bạn cảm thấy cô đơn, bạn rất yếu đuối khi không có mặt người khác. Nó cũng cho rằng đó là lúc bạn dễ sa ngã nhất. Hãy xác tín rằng Thiên Chúa luôn ở bên bạn, Ngài không để bạn lỡ chân trật bước Khi bắt đầu vào cuộc hành trình mới Nhận biết Chúa Giêsu sẽ bắt đầu sứ vụ, ma quỷ đã ráo riết tấn công Ngài. Khi bạn bắt đầu một hành trình tâm linh nào, một cuộc đổi đời chẳng hạn. Ma quỷ sẽ tấn công để phá hoại làm bạn chia trí khi cố gắng sống thân mật với Thiên Chúa. Hãy dùng Lời Chúa như vũ khí để chiến đấu,

LA PRIMERA Y ÚNICA CUARESMA

No importa cuántas cuaresmas nos haya tocado vivir, podemos vivir la de este año como si fuera la única Cuaresma que nos tocara vivir. Podemos orar, ayunar y hacer buenas obras de caridad o misericordia de manera especifica, de forma generosa. Jesús es nuestro modelo a seguir. Jesús no tomó nada para él mismo cuando se fue al desierto por cuarenta días y cuarenta noches. Él no llevó video juegos para pasarla entretenido ni tampoco llevo golosinas por si tenía algún antojo a media noche. No, sólo era Jesús ahí. El Evangelio nos dice que el diablo esperó hasta el fin de los cuarenta días para tentarlo.

Justo cuando nuestro Señor estaba débil, cansado y con hambre, así el diablo lo tentó. Confiando en la Palabra de Dios, Jesús resistió las tentaciones. Entonces, y sólo entones los ángeles vinieron a servir a Jesús. Si imitamos a Jesús y vivimos como él esta Cuaresma, pasaremos por un sufrimiento. FORTALEZA ANTE LA TENTACIÓN

El primer domingo del tiempo de Cuaresma siempre incluye el relato evangélico de la tentación del Señor Jesús en el desierto por el diablo. Este año tiene como trasfondo la primera lectura de Génesis, en la que se narra la primera tentación del diablo que ocurre en el jardín del Edén. El relato del Evangelio transcurre en el desierto. Los creyentes sabemos que la tentación viene tanto en nuestros propios jardines como en los desiertos de nuestra vida. La Cuaresma comienza, y nuestra atención se dirige a esa tentación dentro de nosotros de hacernos como Dios –queremos control, poder y respuesta a todas las difíciles preguntas de la vida. A nuestras comunidades de fe se les ofrece este tiempo de arrepentimiento para que podamos unir nuestro corazón al de otros en el difícil camino de la conversión.
