The tabernacle key has a gold tassel

and is located on a hook in the

upper cabinet, closest to the Sacristy

door. Place this key in the

tabernacle door lock before Mass

and leave unlocked.

Check the amount of sacred Hosts

in the large ciborium which can

hold 850 . Small ciborium hold

250 hosts.

Record the approximate account

of consecrated Hosts in

tabernacle before Mass on sign in

sheet,

2/3/20177

Deacon :

For the assigned Mass,

check the Priest and

Deacon schedule in the

Sacristy. If no Deacon is

serving, you will need to

find a second Left Lead

Cup minister. Also,

check the calendar to

verify the liturgical color

for Mass.

The calendar to

identify the

liturgical color for

Mass is located

behind the Sacristy

door.

Preparation of Vessels:

Place lavabo tray, towel, and water

filled flagons on the credence

table near the ambo/lectern. These

for the wine; the small etched

cruet is used for water at

weekday masses; the large

purificators will be

used in case of a spill

of the Precious Blood

or a dropped Sacred

Host that cannot be

consumed. Motion to an

altar server if assistance is

needed.

Preparation of the Gifts:The unconsecrated hosts are found in the labeled

upper-cabinet in the Sacristy. There are 1000

hosts in each box and each box has 10 packages;

and each package has 100 hosts. The large

ciborium holds 850-900 hosts at max. The small

ciborium holds approximately 250 hosts. The

estimated number of hosts for each Mass are:

• 5PM Saturday Mass start with 600 hosts;

• 7:30 AM Mass start with 350 hosts;

• 9:30 AM Mass start with 700 hosts;

• 11:30 AM Mass start with 750 hosts; and

• 5PM Sunday Mass start with 500 hosts.

The priest’s (large) host (found in the drawer

below the regular hosts) should be placed on top

of the unconsecrated hosts in the large ciborium.

The priest breaks each large host into an estimate

of 21 pieces after consecration.

Do not place extra hosts to be consecrated

without first checking amount of consecrated

hosts in tabernacle.

2/3/201714

Preparation of the Gifts: (continued)

The bread and wine become the Gifts, (the

covered large ciborium and priest’s flagon filled

with wine) are brought to the Vestry and

placed on the counter. Ushers will bring the

gifts to the persons presenting the gifts at the

appropriate time. (NOTE: Please make sure the

cut glass flagon is filled with enough wine for the

priest, deacon, EMHCs and altar servers. Estimate

wine level of the flagon handle). If priest is using

his personal chalice for himself and deacon,

fill flagon with only wine for them.Make sure

the Gifts (large ciborium) is covered with a

yellow cross corporal.

Also, place the basket for EMHC crosses on the

table in the narthex. After Mass, collect the

crosses from EMHCs and place in the basket

and take back to the Sacristy and hang on

assigned hooks.

2/3/201715

Lead EMHC:

• Before Mass, the Lead EMHC will

coordinate with the Head Usher to receive a

head count of the congregation (excludes

children);

• During the homily, the Head Usher will give

the count to the Lead EMHC, who will then

adjust the number of hosts in the large

ciborium in the vestry.

• Use a small ciborium to adjust number of

unconsecrated hosts in the large ciborium

located in the Vestry by subtracting number of

hosts, and return remaining unconsecrated hosts

to the Sacristy;

• To add to number of hosts take a ciborium

from credence table and add hosts and signal

altar server to bring ciborium to altar with

other vessels for consecration

• After Communion, any remaining consecrated

hosts will be placed in the tabernacle for the

sick and homebound; as well as for daily and

weekend Masses.

Empty Ciboria are in cabinet labeled ciborium's.

The large ciborium is also located in the same

cabinet.

2/3/201716

All assigned EMHCs will gather in the Narthex with the Priest for

prayer no later than 5 minutes before Mass. Any EMHCs not signed

in 10 minutes before mass will be replaced and will not serve as

EMHC.

2/3/201717

All ministers process into the Mass and out of the Mass. The

procession starts with the Altar Servers, EMHCs, Lectors,

Deacon and Priest.

2/3/201718

After Communion:

If consolidation of consecrated hosts is

done on the altar, the Lead will return the

tall ciborium to the tabernacle. If

consolidation of sacred hosts is not done

on the altar, the Leads EMHC will place

the tall ciborium from the tabernacle on

the small table with the corporal to transfer

the consecrated hosts. (see picture)

This procedure is very important in order

to prevent any consecrated hosts from

falling on the ground in front of the

tabernacle.

Once the transfer of consecrated hosts are

completed, return the tall ciborium to the

tabernacle and lock it with the tabernacle

key. Return the tabernacle key to the

credence table immediately . After mass

return the key to the cabinet in the

Sacristy. The corporal is to be used once.If

sacrarium (sink without a faucet) and dry it before

returning it to the cabinet.

For Sunday 5pm Lead:

• After Mass: Transfer consecrated hosts from

sacred vessels, purificators and other

linens from the credence table to the

Sacristy.

Cleaning the Vessels After Mass (continued)

When cleaning sacred vessels,

• Fill the sink with soapy water, and gently

swish the vessels in soapy water and rinse in

clear water.

• It is important not to submerge chalices in

water nor use a sponge or cloth.

• If it is necessary to remove lipstick from

chalices, use only a purificator. Please be

careful not to rub or scratch chalices with

jewelry (it is preferred to remove jewelry).

stained linens need to be sprayed with

stain remover and then placed into the

sink (Sacrarium) with cold water.

• To make sure there are no reused

dirty linens; or left over fragments

from consecrated hosts, unfold all

corporals and purificators.

• Any fragments from consecrated

hosts found in linens should either be

consumed or put in the Sacrarium

without water on the left side. .

• To ensure fragments in the

Sacrarium go down the drain, add

water so that fragments go directly to

the ground, below the Church.

• Never reuse a corporal

2/3/201723

Church Linens:

• Only unstained altar linens and terry

cloth towels are placed in the laundry bag;
