Baptism: First Saturday of the month at 1:00 PM. Parents
must come to the Rectory with the with child’s original birth
certificate at least one or two months in advance. Instruction is
held on the Monday before the Baptism at 7:00 PM. For more
information please contact the Rectory.

FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT
We must go out to
meet the approach-
ing Lord; It must be
accompanied by
good works. This is
the central point
that unifies the
readings of this first
Sunday of Advent. The joyful
expectation for the coming of the Lord.
Advent is a very rich time in the life of the
Church that wants to prepare us for the
birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem. It
invites us to understand the love of God
who decides to enter human history in
such a humble and mysterious way. Sim-
ultaneously, Advent draws our attention to
the second coming of Christ at the end of
time, when he will come to judge the liv-
ing and the dead. This same Christ who is
born of the Virgin Mary in the smallness
of a newborn, will come at the end of time
in the majesty of his glory to judge us ac-
cording to our works.
This first Sunday of Advent emphasizes,
above all, the preparation of the second
coming and invites us to be alert and
watch, because we do not know the day
nor the time of arrival.

PRIMER DOMINGO DE ADVIENTO
Hay que salir al encuentro
del Señor que se acerca; hay
que hacerlo acompañado de
las buenas obras. Este es el
punto central que unifica las
lecturas de este primer do-
mingo de adviento. El Señor
volverá, esto es una certeza
que nace de las palabras mis-
mas de Cristo en el Evangelio. La gozosa expecta-
ción por la venida del Señor. El adviento es un
tiempo muy rico en la vida de la Iglesia que desea
prepararnos para el nacimiento de Jesucristo en
Belén. Nos invita a comprender el amor de Dios
que se decide a entrar en la historia humana de un
modo tan humilde y misterioso. Simultáneamente,
el adviento llama nuestra atención sobre la segun-
da venida de Cristo al final de los tiempos, cuando
vendrá a juzgar a vivos y muertos. Este mismo
Cristo que nace de María Virgen en la pequeñez
de un recién nacido, vendrá al final de los tiempos
en la majestad de su gloria para juzgarnos según
nuestras obras. Este primer domingo de Adviento
subraya, sobre todo, la preparación de la segunda
venida y nos invita a estar alertas y vigilar, porque
no sabemos el día, ni la hora de la llegada.
