Parish Mission Statement We, the parish family of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church welcome all, young and old, active or inactive, committed
or alienated, to enrich their lives by joining and participating in our faith community. We seek to reflect the light of Jesus
Christ by reaching out to serve all, and by sharing our joy and hope, as we continue our faith journey. May our lives,
inspired by the Holy Spirit, and nourished by the Eucharist, bear witness to our love for neighbors near and far.

Dear Parishioners,
Sunday completes the short Advent season as we celebrate the
Fourth Sunday of Advent and quickly enter into the celebration
of Christmas, the nativity of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Christmas
season is a unique time of the year. There is no other celebration
during the year that is quite like it. It is a happy time that centers
on God, love, friendliness, family and friends. St. Luke in his
gospel says "the angel said to them, do not be afraid, for behold I
proclaim to you good news. For today in the city of David a
Savior had been born for you who is Messiah and Lord." This
simple proclamation by the angel is what brings us together to
celebrate Christmas day. In faith we know that the child is Christ
the Lord, the one who will redeem the human race from sin. This
child brings us out in large numbers to celebrate his birth and
rejoice in the joy that is Christmas We are happy to be able to
share this day of peace and joy with you, and pray that you will
continue to join with us in succeeding weeks as we pray for the
intercession of the Prince of Peace in our troubled and anxious
world.
Almost two thousand years ago the tiny Babe of Bethlehem
was born into a troubled world. Even now, two centuries later the
land made sacred by his feet still experiences unrest and turmoil.
Many of our homes and streets in our towns and cities are
troubled and disturbed. Perhaps this is the time to resolve to pray
that the Prince of peace might enter into troubled hearts and
homes, help us to bring an end to the ominous specter of
addiction which affects so many of our people, young and old.
Perhaps it is only the renewal of faith and love in our hearts
which will help us conquer the terrible threats to our homes and
our neighborhoods.
There is a story which was on the internet about a school
Christmas play produced by the children. The children in
Kindergarten were to line up, each holding a letter, the total of
which spelled out CHRISTMASLOVE. The little girl holding the
letter M was unaware that she was holding the letter upside
down, making the letter read W, even though the other children
noticing it began to laugh. Suddenly the audience realized that
the sign now read CHRIST WAS LOVE, and the audience broke
out in a loud cheer, for they knew that that was the real message
of Christmas.
Tomorrow, on Christmas day, there will be only one
collection taken up at all the Masses. This collection supports the
priests of the Archdiocese, who are retired and covers the
medical expenses of those who are sickly or disabled. All are
keenly aware of the spiraling costs of medical expenses, and can
understand the need for your generosity in this appeal. We are
proud of the fact that St. Anthony Parish, you, have been among
the most generous parishes in the Archdiocese in this appeal each
year. We also wish to thank all who contributed so generously to
the Giving Tree, helping to make Christmas a joy filled time for
so many through your thoughtful response.
All our Staff wish you a very blessed and peace filled
Christmas and thank you for choosing to share this day of peace
and love with us.
Sincerely,
Fr John R. Mulvehill

Thank you to all who contributed to the
sale of the Advent Wreaths and Candles.
It was very successful in raising money
for the food pantry.
The Confirmation Class sorted and bagged our
greatest assortment yet!! From clothes, sports
equipment, dolls and Legos to art supplies,
books and grooming products. The candidates
were witness to your extreme generosity.
Thank You to all those who helped fulfill a
child’s wish this Christmas. In addition to the
Christmas presents our Parish donated $2,400 in gift cards.
This is astounding! Thank You! Because of your generosity,
we were able to help 5 local families as well as the families we
help through Catholic Charities. Our 10th grade
Confirmation Class prays that your hearts are filled with the
spirit of Christmas!
