STEWARDSHIP
Now there are variety of
gifts, but the same Spirit.
And there are varieties of
ministries, and the same
Lord. There are varieties of
effects, but the same God who works all things in
all persons. But to each one is given the
manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.
~1 Corinthians 12:4-7
Because we recognize that God entrusted to each
one of us our individual talents and strengths to
help build up His Kingdom, we are called to give
that talent back to God through service and minis-
try. When you give of your talent in our parish it
enables us to carry out our mission more
effectively, thus helping build up the Body of
Christ.
Please prayerfully reflect on how you will choose to
share those gifts given to you by grace and return
your Talent/Ministry Commitment as soon as
possible. Thank you!

UPDATE FROM THE BUILDING COMMITTEE
The Saint Andrew Building Committee has been
meeting regularly each month. Our meetings
are an opportunity to review the progress of
both the design and permitting for the Parish
Hall. To date, the project status is as follows:
RMC Architects currently has permit
documents under review by the City of Sumner
for both a conditional use permit (CUP) and the
Washington State Environmental Policy Act
(SEPA). Dialogue continues between these
parties. This can be a lengthy process. As such,
we are still tracking to have all permits issued so
we can break ground in the second quarter of
2020.
Our contractor, Hilger Construction, is also
attending our Committee meetings, providing
cost input as the design progresses.
The Committee is now focusing on some of
the material selections for both the exterior and
interior of the Parish Hall. Hilger Construction is
also providing cost data based on those
selections. RMC Architects is also advising us on
the selections being made, as well as refining
some of the finish details in the design.
As things are moving a little quicker in both
design and permitting, the Building Committee is
now meeting two times per month. This will
continue until both the design and permitting
process are further along, and we get close to
actual groundbreaking.
MEN’S CLUB
St. Andrew’s Men’s Club invites all men of the
parish to attend our regularly scheduled Monthly
meeting, the third Monday of the month,
November 18, at 6:30pm, in Building B.
We will be discussing Turkey Bingo and our
annual Christmas Tree Sale—we start selling
trees the Friday after Thanksgiving and request
help from all men of the parish. Contact Arnie
Huck 253-495-2410 or Rex Profit 253-709-8596.
We will have a member-prepared meal by Rich
Crosley. Our regular meeting follows the meal
and lasts only an hour. Social time to visit with
your fellow parishioners follows the meeting.
There are no fees to belong and no cost for the
meal, so please consider joining us, meeting
fellow parishioners and getting involved in helping
St. Andrew Catholic Church.

DAY MASS
November 28,

**You are invited
to bring something from your Thanksgiving
table to be blessed at Mass.
Hola! I'm Carlos
Caterpillar! I'm just like
you—except, of course,
I'm a caterpillar. I love to
have fun! And since I'm
young, I'm still learning about life, so sometimes
I get myself in situations that can be hard to
wriggle out of! Ay, ay, ay! That's why I'm lucky
to have Uncle Pedro, a butterfly with a lifetime of
experience that he is always willing to share.
Uncle Pedro remembers what it was like to be a
little caterpillar that is just beginning to learn
about life, and he is patient with me while I
learn. He always reminds me how important it is
to do the right thing because he wants me to
grow up to be the best butterfly I can possibly
be. And so do I! Do YOU want to be the very best
YOU can possibly be? Then come with ME and
worm your way into "The Adventures of Carlos
Caterpillar!" Come on! It'll be fun!

ST. ROSE PHILLIPINE
1769-1852
FEAST DAY: NOVEMBER 18
Growing up in a prosperous
French family, Philippine joined
the Visitation nuns, but returned
to her family during the French Revolution. In
1804 she entered the Society of the Sacred
Heart. After much preparation, she led a
missionary journey to Missouri in 1818. She set
up the first free school west of the Mississippi,
Sacred Heart houses and Novitiate, and a school
for Indians. Despite frontier hardships and ill
health, she persevered in her early dream of
serving Native Americans.

WELCOME TO CATECHETICAL CORNER!
This week we will begin to talk
about the Lord's Prayer, the prayer
Jesus taught us himself. He taught
us to speak with "filial boldness" to God, daring
to call him "Our Father" (see The Catechism of
the Catholic Church, #2777). "We can invoke
God as 'Father' because he is revealed to us by
his Son," (CCC #2780) and he has adopted us
into his family by virtue of our Baptism. The spirit
of adoption encourages us to try to be more like
our heavenly Father and to turn to him as his
"little children" (#2784-2785). When we
acknowledge his existence "in heaven", we are
not talking about a certain place but to God's
presence in our hearts and to the "true homeland
toward which we are heading and to which,
already, we belong." (#2802) After our initial
address to our heavenly Father, we make
seven requests or petitions: three that cause us
to focus on the glory and four that humbly
require us to acknowledge our great need for
him. We'll look at the first three now: When we
say "Hallowed be thy name," we are giving God
praise and at the same time asking him to let us
recognize his holiness and the fact that he makes
all creation holy. (#2807-2815) "Thy kingdom
come" speaks mostly to the kingdom of Christ's
reign at the end of time but also acknowledges
the Church's "mission in this present
world” (#2818) Praying "Thy will be done" asks
that God will "unite our will to that of his Son, so
as to fulfill his plan of salvation." (#2860).
We will address the remaining petitions next
week.
