Stewardship Moment: January 12, 2020 – Baptism of the Lord And a voice came from the heavens, saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:17
Two thoughts come to mind when reading this. First, God, Our Father, is so generous, that he gave his only son, whom he really loves, to us so that we can have eternal life with him in heaven. God, Our Creator, really loves us, too! Second, Jesus was obedient to his Father’s will, even to the point of death. This is a reminder that our own lives are pure gifts from God and meant to serve God and others.

Thanksgiving Celebration for Dee von Ruden:
The parish is hosting an appreciation pot luck

Mass to thank Dee for her many years of
music ministry here at Our Lady of Peace.
We hope to see you there!
Next week, we will take up the annual
Peter’s Pence Collection, which
provides Pope Francis with the funds
to carry out his charitable works
around the world. Our donations
benefit our brothers and sisters on
the margins of society, including
victims of war, oppression, and
disasters. Please be generous. For
more information, visit
www.usccb.org/peters-pence.
From the Pastor,
Dear Brothers and Sisters at OLP and St. Agnes,
Your annual Stewardship accounting statements and the
Parish Financial Statement are being drawn up and will be
available soon.
At the beginning of this calendar year I ask every one to
please examine their stewardship to the parish. Everyone
has a moral obligation to support their parish. We have
monthly expenses, just as you have at home. Please examine
your conscience as you look at your contribution over the last
few years, and ask yourself am I truly a cheerful, helpful giver.
Plan your contribution for the year ahead, knowing that God
loves a cheerful giver. That includes TIME, TALENT, AND
TREASURE.
If anyone has any concerns or questions about financial
matters, please see me personally. Thank you for all you do
to support our parishes.
Sincerely in Christ,
Father Bob Smith
(and a special thank you for your Christmas cards and
greetings)

Divorced, Separated, Widowed! Consider Beginning Experience (BE) – a Peer Group offering hope and support by listening, accompanying and healing. BE has a pre-Weekend weekly support program called “Coping with Life Alone”. We would like to get this program established in Grand Forks. We have scheduled an information meeting on Monday, January 20, 2020 at 7:00 PM in the basement of St. Michael Catholic Church, 524 5 Ave N. At this meeting we hope to learn if there is sufficient interest to establish this program in Grand Forks. We would also invite recent graduates of the BE weekend who may be interested in assisting the program by facilitating or other volunteer work. Beginning Experience though its origin is from the Catholic Church has from the start been open to persons of any faith. For more information on BE see the Web sites: “beginningexperience.org” or www.beginningexperience-easternnd.org. You can text me, Monsignor Daniel Pilon at 701-361-2051 or email [email protected].
The St. William’s Mission Travelers, Argusville, are holding their
Soupapalooza event on Sunday, January 19, from 11:00am-
1:00pm. The lunch is free will offering and features a variety of
soups and chilis, breads, and bars. This year, our Mission
Travelers have decided to start their mission early by donating
a percentage of the proceeds to the Ryan Nannenga family.
Ryan had emergency bypass surgery in November. He is the
primary breadwinner for the family and will be unable to
return to work for an extended period of time. Our Mission
Travelers are hoping to help close the gap. Thank you!
