1. Background / Concept
Over years of the project implementation, hundreds of graduates have been produced and a
number of them returned home country to teach at sending Member Institutions. They are
becoming invaluable resources of the Institutions. To enable them to contribute to higher
standard of the institution, their research and educational capacity need to be continuously
enhanced. Short-Term Research Program in Japan is then launched in order to boost the
capacity of these faculty-staff graduates. Participating alumni will be supported to do research
at Japanese Supporting Universities.
Primarily, the program aims to further provide significant support to the graduates.
Nevertheless, their respective Member Institution will gain benefits in terms of network
strengthening and capacity enhancement through this after-graduation academic collaboration
between their staff and Japanese Supporting Universities. The applicants are required to get
consent from Japanese professor(s). Only 18 applicants will be selected to join the program
annually. Supporting items include travel expenses, accommodation and allowance for a
period of 10 to 30 days.
The relationship of Short-Term Research Program in Japan and other supplementary
programs is depicted below.
