Registration begins Friday March 15th, 2019 Skip the Line & Register Online

First Time Login Instructions 1. Visit www.uregina.ca/recservices and click the blue “Register Online” button

2. Choose the blue “Sign In” button on the home page.

3. Choose the blue “Forgot your password?” link.

4. Enter your email address and choose the green “Submit” button

If your Email address is not found: 1. Choose the blue “Create New Account” button

Please note: The legal parent/guardian account must be set up first. Additional family members may be added to your account after the parent/guardian account is set up.

2. Enter your personal information. A red star denotes fields that must be entered.

3. After your account is set up, choose the blue “Create Account and Add Family Member”

button to add additional family members or “Create Account” if you are finished.

If your email address is found: 1. If your email address is found in the system, a temporary account password will be

emailed to the email address provided.

2. Retrieve the temporary password sent and enter your email address and temporary

password in the login screen.

3. Choose the green “Login” button.

4. You will be prompted to change your password.

a. Enter the temporary password you received in the “Current Password” field.

b. Enter the “New Password”. The password must be 8 characters made up of

numbers and letters.

c. Confirm your “New Password”.

d. Choose the green “Save Button”.

5. Change any account information as required.

“Search Button”. Alternately, you may search by location, dates, program name,

category or other.

REFUND POLICY Refund Policy: There will be a 10% administration fee for all refunds requested with at least 8 business days’ notice and a 50% administration fee assessed for refunds requested within 7 business days of the course/camp start date. No refunds will be issued after the start of any course/camp except for medical reasons (supporting doctor’s note required), or relocation away from Regina and surrounding areas. A pro-rated refund, less the 10% administration fee will be given for medical and relocation withdrawals, effective the day we are notified of the withdrawal due to medical or relocation. A doctor’s note must be received by the Recreation & Athletic Services office within 5 business days of the withdrawal notification. The University of Regina reserves the right to cancel classes due to insufficient registration. If this occurs, a full refund will be issued. To withdraw from a course, please contact Recreation & Athletic Services at 306-585-4371 or by email at [email protected]. Course/Class Transfers: Registrants may transfer courses (within the same program area) prior to the start of the course, providing there is availability. A $10.00 transfer fee will be assessed for any transfers once the course has started. Cougar Meal Plan - Cougar Athletic Camps only. Where applicable, the optional meal plan for Cougar Day Camp participants is held at Luther College and offers a hot and cold ‘all you can eat’ buffet style meal.

NOTE: There is no lunch program for Summer Sports School participants.

SUMMER SPORTS SCHOOL

Summer Sports School is a unique physical activity program for children 4 to 12 years of age. Children will be provided with opportunities to participate in a variety of sports, science, aquatic and other physical activities in a safe, fun and non-competitive environment. The emphasis is for participants to have fun, meet others, become physically active and learn new skills. All activities will be planned, facilitated and supervised by instructors and will be modified to suit the age level and ability of the participants. Check in Procedures: For safety reasons, all participants must be signed in and signed out by the parent/guardian or designate. Campers will only be permitted to leave with the person(s) authorized to pick them up. Photo ID will be required at the time of pick up. Names can be added during drop off in the morning. Should you need to pick your child up early, please inform your child’s group instructor and/or write it on the sign out sheet.

One t-shirt will be provided with camp registration. Multiple shirts will not be provided for multiple camp registrations.

Participants have the option to register in a morning, afternoon, or may choose a morning and afternoon program to create a full day experience. For full day camps, please choose one morning and one afternoon program!

Discount: Choose multiple Summer Sports School sessions and receive a 10% camp discount. The discount only applies if multiple sessions are chosen at the same time, on the same receipt. To activate the discount, simply add all Summer Sports School sessions to your cart, and then check out. Sessions purchased on previous or future receipts will not apply toward the discount. Extended Supervision: Hours are from 7:45 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. There is no charge for this service. There are no planned activities during this time. Lunch supervision will be provided for those participants registered in a full day program. Lunch for Full Day Programs: We do not have a meal plan for Summer Sports School. Please pack a nut free lunch and nut free snacks. Supervision will be provided during the lunch hour. If you wish to pick up your child for lunch, please let the staff know so we can arrange for pick up during that time (photo ID will be required).

SUMMER SPORTS SCHOOL – PROGRAMS

Little Movers (FULL DAY ONLY) Age Group: For children 4 to 5 years old (must be 4 as of August 31, 2019) Time: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm This one week camp runs all-day and will incorporate swimming, physical literacy skills, introduction to sports, art and science. This camp will offer activities such as soccer, tchoukball, pickle ball, and more! Please note: There will be pool time every day. All Littler Movers participants will be required to wear a life jacket or water wings in the pool for their own safety. Children must be fully toilet trained to register in this program.

Rookie (AM OR PM) MAY NOT CHOOSE BOTH AM AND PM. FOR FULL DAY CAMPS, PLEASE CHOOSE LITTLE MOVERS

Age Group: For children 4 to 5 years old (must be 4 as of August 31, 2019) Time: 8:30 am – 12:00 pm OR 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm

This program is combined with Little Movers. The Rookies will take part in a variety of modified sport and recreational activities geared to their age group. The emphasis is on participation, basic skill development and FUN! Please note: There is pool time in the morning program only. Rookie participants will be required to wear a life jacket or water wings in the pool for their own safety. Children must be fully toilet trained to register in this program.

Active Arts (AM &/OR PM)

Age Group: For children 6 to 12 years old (must be 6 as of August 31, 2019) Time: 8:30 am – 12:00 pm & 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm This program will provide children with an opportunity to explore their visual art creativity, as well as participate in a variety of sport activities. Part of the morning will be focused on visual arts activities and the other portion in sport and recreational activities. Visual arts activities may include creating a piñata, painting, drawing and other art and craft projects. Sport and recreational activities may include archery, lacrosse, and basketball, among many others. Please Note: There will be swimming Tuesday and Thursday in Art PM only. All children that are unable to touch with their head out of the water will be required to wear a life jacket or use a pool noodle for their safety in the water. Life jacket and pool noodle are provided.

Sports & Recreation (AM &/OR PM)

Age: For children 6 to 12 years old (must be 6 as of August 31, 2019) Time: 8:30 am – 12:00 pm & 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm Participants in this camp will enjoy a full morning or afternoon of sport and recreational activities. The Sport School groups will be divided according to age. Some examples of the sports and recreational activities may include Archery, Field Hockey, Lacrosse, and Kin Ball. Please Note: There will be swimming every day in the afternoon program. All children that are unable to touch with their head out of the water will be required to wear a life jacket or use a pool noodle for their safety in the water. Science & Sport (AM) Age Group: Children 8 to 12 years old (must be 8 as of August 31, 2019) Time: 8:30 am – 12:00 pm This program provides children with the opportunity to explore science in a controlled environment. Instructors from the Faculty of Science will engage children through experiments and hands on learning. A portion of the program will be delivered with the assistance of professors from the Faculty of Science assisting with various experiments. Children will spend part of the morning participating in science and the other part in sport and recreational activities.

Wonderful Wizarding World (FULL DAY ONLY)

Age Group: Children 10 to 12 years old (must be 10 as of August 31, 2019) Time: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm In this combination arts and sports camp, you will develop your own wizarding schools, create duelling skits, and play wizarding world games like Quidditch. Can you swim to save your friends from mermaids or face obstacles to steal a golden egg from a dragon? Don't wait for your invitation to come by owl, this camp is for all muggles and wizards alike. Run in partnership between the KHS Summer Sports School and Conservatory of Performing Arts. This camp will take place on main campus. Please Note: There will be swimming twice a week.

Run, Explore, Create! (FULL DAY ONLY)

Age Group: Children 7 to 9 years old (must be 7 as of August 31, 2019) Time: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm In this arts and sports camp, participants get to travel the world while never having to leave home. Each day will focus on a different region of the world as participants play, move, and create art. Participate in sports from around the globe, sing traveling songs, swim in the ocean, and so much more. Never a dull moment! Run in partnership between the KHS Summer Sports School and Conservatory of Performing Arts. This camp will take place on main campus. Please Note: There will be swimming twice a week.

Wacky Week (FULL DAY ONLY)

Age Group: For children 6 to 12 years old (must be 6 as of August 31, 2019) Time: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm Participants of this one week, full-day camp will enjoy a variety of specialty activities including some time in the Science Program, Visual Arts Program and a variety of sports and recreational activities. Some of these activities will include Cricket, Rugby, Winter Olympics day, Summer Olympics day, Frisbee golf, Beach Volleyball as well as some time in the pool. Participants will be placed in groups throughout the week as they rotate through the different program options and activities. Please Note: This is a full day camp only. There will be swimming daily.

COUGAR HOCKEY Head Instructor: Todd Johnson Todd has been the Head Coach of the Cougar Men’s Hockey Team for the past 7 years. In his first season Johnson led the Cougars to a 13-12-3 conference record in his first season as head coach and made their first postseason appearance since 2009. Cougar Golf/Hockey School For Children ages 9 to 12 years old Held off campus at Co-operators Centre, Evraz Place and the Royal Regina Golf Course All participants will receive a Cougars jersey! The emphasis of this Camp will focus on hockey and golf development. There is 2 hours of on-ice daily instruction which focuses on power skating and skill development of players aged 9-12 years of age. Players will be challenged to compete at high levels through drills and instruction. The Royal Regina certified PGA Golf professionals will work with players on swing mechanics like grip, stance, posture and movement. Players will learn and practice both short game skills and ball striking to take their game to the next level. There will be a par 3 challenge and much more!

Cougar Men’s Elite Hockey School For Children ages 8 to 12 years old Held off-campus at Co-operators Centre, Evraz Place All participants will receive a Cougars jersey! This is not a beginner learn to skate camp. This is an elite camp focusing on skating, skill development and conditioning of 8 to 12 year old players, both male and female. Each day will include power skating, skill development and high temp drills that will challenge players to compete at a high level. Players will receive 2 hours of ice time each day and a 1 hour off ice session. Each session will be instructed by current Cougar Coaches and players for a low player to coach ratio. Goaltending instruction will be provided by current Cougar Goaltenders.

Cougar Men’s Hockey Tryout Prep Camp

For children ages 9 to 12 years old Held off-campus at Co-operators Centre, Evraz Place

The emphasis of this camp will be skill development and conditioning of 9-12 years of age players, both male and female, who are preparing for their Atom tryouts. Each session will include a warm-up, station work and high tempo drills that will challenge players to compete at high level. Each session will be instructed by current Cougar Coaches and players for a low player to coach ratio.

Head Instructor: Sarah Hodges Sarah has been the Head Coach of the Cougar Women’s Hockey team for the past 17 seasons. She won a silver medal at the World’s U18 Championship in 2011 with Team Canada. She has also been Head Coach of the National U22 team in 2008/09, Assistant Coach of National U22 team in 2007/08, Video Coordinator for National U22 team in 2006/07 and Head Coach for Team Saskatchewan in 2005/06.

Cougar Summer Hockey Camp for Girls

For girls ages 7 to 13 years old Held off-campus at Co-operators Centre, Evraz Place Campers may purchase a meal plan for an additional fee All participants will receive a Cougars t-shirt! The Cougar Hockey Summer Camp for Girls has been developed according to the recommendations of the Canadian Sports for Life, Long Term Athlete Development Model. The Hockey Canada Player Development model has nine stages based on the physical, mental, emotional and cognitive development of children and adolescents. The Cougar Camp will emphasize the FUNdamentals and Learn to Train stages of development focusing on physical literacy, fitness and basic hockey skills.

10 ice sessions (10 hours)

5 off-ice skill sessions

Emphasis will be on skill development and athletic abilities training (coordination, agility, balance, etc.)

Daily off-ice sports with emphasis on leadership, teamwork, with both cooperation and competition in a positive learning environment

For girls ages 7 to 14 years old Held off-campus at Co-operators Centre, Evraz Place This camp includes 5 ice sessions (5 hours). Emphasis is on skill development and conditioning to prepare for evaluation camps. Stations will be used as the predominant structure for this camp (low student-coach ratio to maximize skill practice). COUGAR VOLLEYBALL

Head Instructor: Melanie Sanford Melanie is a former national team player with over 26 years of coaching experience. A graduate of the University of Saskatchewan, Melanie has played professionally in both Italy and Japan, and is a certified Level V Coach. Melanie was inducted into the Saskatoon Sports Hall of Fame for her contributions to volleyball in our community. She has extensive coaching experience with the National Team program and is entering her fifteenth year as the Head Coach for the Cougars. Cougar athletes will assist with these camps.

Summer Gold Volleyball Camp For girls ages 12 to 17 Held on campus in Gyms 1 & 2 An optional meal plan is available for an additional cost All participants will receive a Cougars t-shirt! Participants will be grouped together according to skill level and age. The primary objective of this camp is to provide participants with top quality instruction and coaching with the most up to date volleyball techniques and team play systems.

COUGAR BASKETBALL

Head Instructor: Dave Taylor Dave Taylor has just completed his tenth year as head coach of the Cougar Women's Basketball team. In the last 9 seasons, he has led his team to Canada West Silver Medals as well as 2 Silver Medal finishes at Nationals. He was Assistant Coach with the team for 14 years and in that time won a National Title and went to Nationals 6 other times. Coach Taylor will be joined by current and former Cougar athletes and coaches.

Cougar Girls Basketball Summer Camp

For girls ages 6 to 13 Held on campus in Gym 1 An optional meal plan is available for an additional cost All participants will receive a Cougars t-shirt! The Day Camp is designed to facilitate the improvement of the athlete’s fundamental basketball skills through drills, games and instruction within a competitive, yet fun, environment. Athletes interested in improving or learning basketball skills will benefit from this camp, regardless of skill level.

Head Instructor: Steve Burrows Steve Burrows was named the University of Regina's men's basketball head coach in 2013. Prior to being the men’s head coach, Burrows had been an assistant coach with the men's team since the 1994-95 season and served double duty since the 2007-08 campaign, when he also held the title as assistant coach for the women's team. Coach Burrows will lead the camp and will be joined by members of the Cougar Men’s Basketball Team.

Cougars ELITE Female Soccer Camp For girls ages 13 to 18 Held on campus at the University of Regina Rams/ Cougar Fields Optional accommodation and meal plan is available for an additional cost This soccer camp is geared toward the high performance female soccer player entering Grades 8 to 12 (Fall 2019). You will be part of a high level training camp experience that will improve your playing abilities while providing great insight into the standards of performance expected within a varsity soccer program. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to meet and interact with current Cougar players to gain their perspective on preparing to succeed as a varsity player. The ELITE camp is geared toward young women with a serious interest in competing at the post-secondary level. It is highly recommended that participants have played or currently play at a premiere club, provincial or national level. Camp registration includes:

COUGAR TRACK & FIELD

Head Instructor: Wade Huber After serving as the interim head coach of the U of R's track & field and cross country programs during the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons, Wade Huber was named the permanent head coach in May of 2017. Prior to taking over as head coach, Huber was a jumps coach with the Cougars for five seasons and in the same capacity with Excel Athletika since 2012.

Cougars Track & Field - Run, Jump, & Throw Camp

For girls and boys ages 6 to 14 Held off-campus at the Canada Games Athletic Complex (3025 McDonald Street) All participants will receive a Cougars t-shirt! The University of Regina’s Track & Field Camp will be taught by current Cougar athletes and overseen by the head coach of the Cougar Track & Field team. The camp focuses on the fundamental motor skills required for track & field. Learning how to run, jump, and throw properly will provide youths the skills they need to achieve their athletic potential in track & field and many other sports. The camp teaches these skills using a variety of track & field events taught using fun strategic play in a positive and interactive atmosphere.

All participants will receive superior football instruction from knowledgeable coaches who provide a very professional, positive, learning atmosphere. No previous football experience is necessary. This camp provides participants with the opportunity to refine and develop their football skills, meet new friends and most importantly, have fun. Campers will work on conditioning, fundamentals and technique at individual positions, plus offensive and defensive team play. All camp participants will receive one Ram’s Season Ticket. 12 hours of on-field instruction that emphasizes teaching football fundamentals.

Guest coaches from various football programs provide an excellent player/coach ratio.

Sea Otter & Salamander: 3 years of age or older and just starting out. Previous lessons are not necessary. Sunfish, Crocodile & Whale: 3 to 5 years of age and can enter the shallow water safely; float and glide on the front and back without assistance; move around in a PFD; perform rhythmic breathing three times. Level 1: For children 5 years and older who can enter shallow water safely; float and glide on the front and back without assistance; swim on their front for 2 metres. Level 2: For children 5 years and older who can float on their front and back; exhale through mouth and nose and flutter kick while gliding on front and back; swim 5 metres continuously. Level 3: For children 6 years of age and older who can perform deep water activities; can breathe rhythmically 10 times; glides on their front and back with kick for 5 meters and swim 10 metres continuously. Level 4: For children 6 years of age and older who can swim front crawl for at least 5 metres, arms recovering above water; swim 15 metres continuously. Level 5: For children 7 years of age and older who can surface support 45 seconds; swim front crawl at least 10 metres; swim on back with kick 10 metres; swim 25 metres continuously.
