Dear Greater Plymouth Resident:
We are all looking forward to spring after a long winter, ! The Building andGrounds Department is working hard to spruce up the parks after the harshconditions the past few months. Spring, April in particular, is shaping up to bevery exciting at the Parks and Recreation Department. During the month ofApril, we will mark two major milestones in our community. First, the GreaterPlymouth Community Center will turn 10 years old on April 8th, 2010. Wewill mark this milestone with a celebration on Saturday, April 10th (please seebelow for details). Second, April 24th will commemorate the grand opening of
Harriet Wetherill Park. Spring is a busy time in our department and the parkscontinue to be utilized more and more each year and our programs continue tobe well received.
On April 10th, 2010 the Greater Plymouth Community Center will celebrateour 10th anniversary. Details of the event are on the front and back covers.Highlights included a visit from a Colonial Middle School Band, entertainment, light refreshments and a ceremony officially marking this occasion. For thoserenewing or purchasing annual passes, we are offering a onetime 10% off specialfor those who attend that day. In addition, GPCC facilities will be open forswimming and basketball at no charge on April 10th.
Another date to mark your schedule for is Saturday, April 24th. HarrietWetherill Park will be officially opened and dedicated. The festivities will beginat 9 am with a ceremony to cut the natural ribbon to open the park. After that, please plan on staying and visiting the park. We have invited groups with anenvironmental theme to help us celebrate the day. While utilizing the
Plymouth Passport to the Outdoors children and their families will be able tovisit each group and learn about their mission and services.
Plymouth Township Day is planned for Saturday, July 24th. The event will onceagain run in the evening due to the response we received last year. The MangoMen will join us at 7 pm for a concert to cap the evening. Food, inflatables, games and community groups all help to make Plymouth Township Day a com-munity tradition. If your business, group, or organization is interested in partici-pating, please contact us.
Bus trips are always popular in the spring. Page 15 highlights some of our otherofferings for 2010. Park at the Community Center and let us to driving to anumber of destinations in our area. In addition, please remember to check theGPCC website for our summer discount amusement park ticket program. While there, please enjoy the natural beauty of the our open space and parkareas. Please also remember to place your trash and recycles in proper contain-ers. Once again, we look forward to seeing you at the GPCC 10 celebrationand at the Harriet Wetherill Park Grand Opening. Winter is behind us, pleasedo take some time to visit our Plymouth Township Parks.

Park PartnersThe Park Partners program encourages public and private groups to assist with various
improvements to municipal parks. The program is designed as the *adopt-a-park* compo-nent of the Gifts For Parks & Recreation program that promotes longer-term volunteersupport at a selected park. The PTPR staff and interested groups (businesses, families, churches, and community groups) can select an entire site, or a designated section or fea-ture of a larger site, and will work together to create a reasonable work plan and timelineto insure a successful experience. An agreement is then completed with regard to pro-gram participation. The Park Partners will work with PTPR staff to help keep their parksite clean, safe, and attractive.
The Plymouth Township Parks and Recreation Department is excited to introduce our Gift for Parks and RecreatioProgram. This program promotes a strong community involvement, enhances recreation programs through financsupport and assists in preserving and improving recreation facilities and parks. We hope you will show your suppo
through the many opportunities available.

CARRY IN - CARRY OUTWhat Is Carry It In, Carry It Out?
Carry It In, Carry It Out is a waste management philosophy that states anything a person brings into a natural are
must be taken out of the area when a person leaves. This concept helps maintain a natural and clean park.
Why is Harriet Wetherill Park Adopting This Concept?
With the Carry It In, Carry It Out concept Harriet Wetherill Park will remain a natural and environmental space
Adopting this concept will eliminate the need to place trash receptacles throughout the park. Anyone using the par
asked to take all trash and waste with them when they leave. Remember, this includes pet waste.
