KIALLA CENTRAL PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER Page 3

Last night we held our Annual General Meeting and our March meeting for School Council. I am

pleased to announce our 2017 members are: Debbie Humphries (Executive Officer)

Bob Scott (President) Peter Blake (Vice President) Robyn McCully (Secretary)

Alan Keat (Treasurer) Andy Ryan, Sara Cuthbert, Lachy Kerr & Mitchell Zito (General Committee). I would like to welcome our 2 new School Council Members Sara & Lachy. School Council play a very important role in representing our school community, supporting me in my role as Principal and helps to shape the future direction for our school. I am looking forward to working with our School Council and I would like to thank you for volunteering for these positions. On Thursday 30th March we are hosting our

K.C.P.S. House Athletics at school. Students are encouraged to wear their house colours:

Archer ~ Blue Fairmaid ~ Green Mitchell ~ Yellow

Please keep in mind we are a Sunsmart school so students are not allowed to wear singlets and broad brimmed hats are compulsory. It is a normal school day starting at 8.50am, our bus and OSHC will operate as per usual. Our first event will start at 9.30am and we will be finished by 1.30pm. Students will go

back into their classrooms for the afternoon session. Recess and lunch time will be decided on the day based on how quickly we progress through our events. Parents, carers and families are welcome to attend this event. We will need a couple of helpers for some of our events. Our House Athletics is a great day which all of our students enjoy. It is about having a go and trying your best!

GO ARCHER! GO FAIRMAID! GO MITCHELL!

Our Kialla Central Primary School Footy Tipping starts this week. If you have expressed interest in participating you will have your tipping sheets will be attached to your newsletter. If you have your newsletter emailed, your sheets will be sent home with your child. Tipping sheets need to be returned with a $10.00 payment per tipper by 9.00am this Thursday. The footy season kicks off on Thursday night with Carlton versing Richmond. There is still time for you to be part of our tipping competition, please see Mrs O.

Last Friday the Shepparton News came and took a photo of our

Foundation students. This was taken for the Shepp News Prep Feature for 2017. It will appear in Wednesday 19th April Shepparton News.

Parents’ Club are organising a pizza lunch for our students for Wednesday 29th March. See attached order form for further information. Orders and payment are due back on Monday 27th March..

Parents’ Club are also organising a Pie Drive for this term. We are just waiting on a price list from Fiores

Bakery so we can send home order forms. We are aiming to have orders and payment in by next Friday 31st March so that delivery is Thursday 20th April. This will provide an opportunity for our families to stock their freezers before our hot lunches begin in Term 2. Jacob Kerr (past students) is back at Kialla Central Primary School on Thursday afternoons as part of his Year 12 studies. He is working across Miss Baker’s and Mr Zito’s classes during their Geometricity project time. Welcome back Jacob!

Junior School Council are very active this year and have a couple of

fundraising activities happening already. They are raising money for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal, by asking our school community to collect as many 5 cent pieces as possible. With the support of Parents’ Club they are running a “Guess the number of Eggs” competition. It is $1.00 a guess with the exact or closest guess winning the container of Easter

goodies. Students will have the opportunity to have the guess between 8.50am and 9.00am each day in the Gallery. Our JSC President, Zoe & JSC Secretary Acacia are organising this competition. Thank you to Mrs Irwin for her help.

The time has come for Mrs Stonehouse to say goodbye as she is moving on to her next adventure of travel and retirement. While she made her announcement of retirement in Term 4, we have been extremely fortunate to have her work along side Mrs Irwin this term. Kialla Central Primary School has benefited enormously from Jo’s knowledge and expertise. She has made a number of improvements to our operating systems that has put us in good stead for the future. I would like to sincerely thank Jo for her invaluable contribution to our school. Wishing you all the best for your retirement! Good luck Pete! (Mr Stonehouse)

We also have 2 of our families leaving this week. The Risicato family are moving to Bendigo and the Abayomi family are moving to

Melbourne. Thank you for being part of our school community and you will be missed. We wish Preston, Spencer, Greyson, Pelumi and Tofunmi all the best at their new schools! Debbie Humphries Proud Principal of KCPS
