Hamish (10 y.o. Boys) in Hurdles placed 6th and in High Jump he was unsure of his final placing.

Our 10 year old boys relay team consisting of Hamish, Nehemiah, Callea and Angus, finished 4th.

Well done to all of these students who did their best against quality opposition. Edie and Jakob qualified for the next level of competition being the Regional Athletics Championships that were held in Albury on Friday 20th October. Edie’finished 9th on the 800m and 5thin the 1500m. These were both PBs for Edie.

Jakob also achieved a PB in Shot Put with a distance of 8.60m finishing 5th. Congratulations on your results Edie & Jakob you should be very proud of yourselves. Thank you to the families for organsing our students to get to and from these events.

CHANGE OF DATES Orientation Day

Tuesday 12th December

Grade 6 Graduation Thursday 14th December

It was brought to my attention that the State Wide Orientation Day appears to have changed

from when I checked it about this time last year. I will also notify our new Foundation families for 2018 of this change at our first Orientation Session on Monday 30th October.

As a result, our Grade 6 Graduation date has also changed to coincide with this and to allow Mr Z to be a proud dad at Oscar’s Kinder Graduation. I apologize for any inconvenience.

Our Grade 3 & 4 students, Miss Baker and Miss H are heading off to

Alexandra Adventure Camp. We leave on Wednesday 25th October and return on Friday 27th. As per usual, we are going with students, staff and parents of Kialla West P.S. For many of our students it is their first camping adventure away from family and friends which is very exciting! For students who are not going on camp it is business as usual back at school with Mr Z. Last Saturday the Justice Department’s Community Service Crew visited our school. They did some general tidying up of our grounds and mowed our front lawns and ovals. This is an invaluable connection we have made to ensure our school looks fantastic. Parents’ Club held their October monthly meeting last week. They have set their final dates, fundraising events and special lunches for the year. More information will follow but for now put these dates in your diaries:

SPECIAL LUNCHES Thursday 16th November ~ Pizza lunch (Order form attached to this newsletter)

Parents’ Club will also be having our traditional Christmas Raffle that will be drawn at our End of year Concert.

Finally there may be another event, if everything goes to plan for Friday 1st December. This will definitely bring our school and broader community together for a very special event. Stay tuned for details once things are confirmed. There will be a School Council update in next week’s newsletter after our meeting last night. This will include an update on finishing off our basketball court works and other planned projects. Junior School Council are hosting a Freaky Friday Dress Up Day. When: Friday 3rd November Why: A request from the students for a dress up day and its Halloween Season. Cost: A gold coin donation which will go to JSC’s fundraising efforts.

We are not expecting families to go out and buy lavish costumes … simply get creative with what you can find at home! I look forward to seeing some very spooky characters floating around school that day!
