Colourful flags were hoisted, and red carpet was rolled out by the School as it organised its First Annual Sports Fiesta-a magnificent sports extravaganza filled with fervour and excitement experienced amidst great mirth, verve and camaraderie where the students manifested their sports skills with impeccable expertise. The students imbibed the significance of five ‘S’ — Stamina, Speed, Strength, Skill and Spirit on this eve. The celebration of Sports Day was more apt as it kept in focus the vision of –‘Fit India Movement’ launched by the honourable Prime Minister of the nation. The school thus endeavoured to live up to the motto of “Ek Bharat- Shrestha Bharat”.

The Chief Guest for the day was Mr. Venkat Sundaram. The occasion was also graced by the esteemed members of the Management. The Principal Ms. Jyoti Arora accorded a floral welcome to all the dignitaries and luminaries present for the grand event. The day started off with the declaration of the meet open by the Chairman, Mr. Vipin Sahni followed by the release of colourful balloons by the Chairperson Ms. Kiran Sahni and esteemed Director, Mr. Aman Sahni. The esteemed Directors, Dr. Saiyam Sahni and Dr. Rohit Singh handed over the ceremonial torch. The A splendid Inter-House March Past was a grand spectacle of colour, rhythm and precise synchronization and highly competitive where the four houses eyed for the first place. The best march past trophy was awarded to Narmada House. The Chief Guest, Mr. Venkat Sundaram, all the present dignitaries and Principal, Mrs. Jyoti Arora also took the salute of the impressive March Past of the students, coupled with some stirring marching music by the band.

Inter House Patriotic Dance Activity was organised in the school on 24 January 2020. The students of classes 3 and 4 of all the four houses danced to the beats of patriotic songs like He priya bharat desh, Pyara hai ye desh desh ki mati pyari hai, Kadam -Kadam badhaye Ja, Hind desh k Nivasi Dharti Ki Mashal Se, Vande Matram, Jai Ho, Desh Mera Rangeela, etc. to reignite the feeling of patriotism. Many students presented a variety of programs to exhibit their innate emotions towards the nation. This activity also described our rich heritage culture and resources. Students performed patriotic songs and dances showing the vital aspects of India and its unity in diversity. They promoted the message of freedom struggle and its importance in today’s life. Various props were used and the students were enthusiastic, energetic and melodious. The activity was concluded with the National Anthem.

The students entered into the spirit of the occasion in a grand way with the oath administered by the Head Girl. The audience next witnessed the riveting display of cultural fiesta including dance drills, aerobics, yoga and mass drill by the vivacious students of DWPS symbolizing alternative sources of energy. The students also exhibited their Karate skills mesmerising the audience with their energetic performances. Effervescent performances given by the vivacious students of classes I to XI in Sprints, Relays, Sack race, skipping race and Lemon and Spoon race throbbed the ground receiving thunderous approbation for their superbly breath- taking performances. Fun time with parents was witnessed during the Balloon race and a Tug- of- war added charm to the event. During his addressal, the Chief Guest encouraged the students to strive for the best by identifying one’s uniqueness and potential in order to contribute positively to society. He also stressed on the importance of sports in a students’ life and explained the true meaning of sportsmanship. The Principal, Ms Jyoti Arora also took to the podium to address the students and guests and enlightened them on the need for the holistic development of children in today's competitive world. She presented the Annual Report and thanked the parent fraternity and her staff for their unstinted support and encouraged the students to keep up their sportsman spirit. The day culminated with with the Prize Distribution ceremony. The Grand Finale was a visual treat of the amalgamation of sports and cultural bonanza presented by the versatile students of DWPS. The event concluded with rendition of the National Anthem by the audience and beating of the retreat by the School Band. The students and the guests departed with a clear smile on their faces .It was a day filled with sportsmanship, enthusiasm and memories to cherish !

SPECTACULAR SUCCESS AT CBSE NATIONAL STORY TELLING COMPETITION

It is a matter of jubilation for DWPS as it adorns another feather in its cap.Reem Mir student of Class X qualiified to participate at the CBSE National Storytelling Competition organised for the students of classes III to XII. Only 64 students out of 9603 students qualified from in and across India. Reem Mir has been a proud recipient of Certificate of Merit by CBSE for her outstanding performance in the competition.

DWPS honoured with Inspire Award

It is a matter of pride that Tanvi Gupta , student of Class- VI has qualified for National level Inspire Awards 2019-20. Only 32 Young Innovators out of 213 participants qualified for the competition which was held on 1. Feb.2020 at Rani Laxmi Bai Memorial School, Lucknow. Tanvi Gupta exhibited her innovative project ‘All Purpose Weather Jacket’ under the sub theme ‘Make in India’ and won laurels and applause from various dignitaries present in the event. The Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Mr Dinesh Sharma addressed the budding scientists and applauded them for their zest and creativity displayed in their projects.

Proud Indians - Republic Day Celebration

Love can speak volumes when words become less. Yes, on 24th January, 2020, the young patriots of Delhi World Public School came together with their fearless mind to celebrate the nation's 71st Republic Day by marking the cause of unity and paying homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for this motherland. Class Nursery E put up a great show in their class assembly and saluted the national flag. That was a wonderful way to express their love and admiration for their motherland

Keeping the spirit of patriotism alive and to remember the valuable contributions made by our leaders, a special assembly was conducted by the students of Grade 4 on 27 January with the objective of instilling patriotism and values of being good citizens.

TALENT HUNT

Delhi World Public School organized a Talent Hunt activity for the students of Classes I & II on 31 January and 3 February 2020 respectively. The activity aimed at discovering the hidden talents and potentials of the students and also to inculcate the value of discipline among them. The students participated enthusiastically in the event. Students showcased their skills in various activities. They recited poetry, narrated self-composed poems, sang melodious songs, played various instruments and presented heart throbbing classical and contemporary dances. They were greatly appreciated for their remarkable performance. Ms. Sangeeta Mukerjee, Coordinator of Primary Wing congratulated all the participants and encouraged them to hone their skills as these are essential for the development of overall personality of students.

Inter-house Doha Recitation Competition

Interhouse Competitions are excellent ways to assist the students not only in building their confidence but also inculcating teamwork and asserting their creative presentation with precision. With this vision in mind an Inter House Doha Recitation Competition was held for the students of Class VI-IX on Friday, 31 January 2020. Devanshi, student of Class VII from Kaveri House and Nehal, student of Class VI from Yamuna House bagged the First position, followed by Aarav Srivastav and Adhrit, Students of Classes VI & VII from Narmada House secured the Second Position in the Category of Grade VI & VII. In the Category of Grade VIII &IX, Sahil Singh, student of Class- IX from Kaveri House secured the First Position and Sara Singh, student of Class IX from Yamuna House, and Hetal Kohli, student of Class VIII from Brahmaputra House bagged the Second Position. The prestigious winners won applause and appreciation of the judges and the audience. The judges, staff and students congratulated the performers for this laudable achievement.

INTER- HOUSE TECH WIZ COMPETITION

An Inter-House Tech Wiz Quiz Competition was held on 31January’20 for the students of Classes III and IV in the school auditorium. The Quiz began with the introduction of contestants .The participants were properly briefed with the rules of the competition. The four houses Brahmaputra, Kaveri, Narmada and Yamuna were represented by three participants each. The quiz was related to the basics along with the history of computers. The rapid fire round in the quiz made it more exciting for both the students and audience. All the teams were well prepared. The students enthralled the audience with their impeccable knowledge and information .The competition had a perfect nail biting climax as the most exciting and thrilling battle was won by Brahmaputra house. The second position was bagged by Narmada house whereas the third position was secured by Yamuna house. It was very informative and knowledge enriching competition for the participants along with the audience.

Nothing works like real thing. A saying goes," You got to climb the mountain to know the mountain. With a aim of engaging the students in experiential learning, the school organized a fun fair, 'Mini Market 2020', that laid a hands-on learning experience of real market and helped them deal with marketing techniques. Fun stalls were set up and the kids learnt how to shop with currency as a medium. Throughout the day, they strolled around in the fair and enjoyed shopping with their companions. A magic show was an added attraction that was an icing on the cake. The happy faces were too busy in exploring every corner and went crazy. It was full of masti!
