CO-CURRICULAR PROGRAM

What is it?Co-curricular activities (CCA) are typically defined as activities that complement and enhance the academic, cultural, artistic and athletic experiences of the school courses. The staff at St. Andrew's Grammar school are committed to giving students a holistic learning experience. Providing an abundance of opportunities and choices to trial different interests and to build on students social relationships outside the classroom.

Benefits for studentsA fully engaging co-curricular program will enhance the students’ pursuit of success in a well-rounded schooling environment. With academic excellence an important goal of St. Andrew's Grammar, Co-curricular activities can benefit students in building self-esteem and resilience in a safe space that all students can find joy in.

Often Australian students can have a poor sense of belonging to a school according to the Australian Council of Education Research (ACER). The activities that have been provided will create a strong sense of comradery between students, school and community that will set students up to be a whole person.

As our academic curriculum is dedicated to supporting the students’ learning, our CCA program compliments some great transferable skills into the classroom. Students are able to collaborate, show leadership skills and build relationships with teachers outside of the classroom.

Students can take ownership of their CCA program by mapping out and choosing their specific interests, this creates some great opportunities for building some life skills such as time management whilst providing some stress relief and relaxation from some demanding schedules.

We believe this active participation in sport, music, art, drama and service opportunities are key for our students' development. Although not contractually obligated, our staff at St. Andrew's Grammar are absolutely committed to offering students fun and exciting opportunities which they are passionate about. We hope that you support these outstanding programs and look forward to receiving your applications for these opportunities

Should you have any queries regarding the CCA program, please to contact me at [email protected]

To give students a holistic learning experience that can build self-esteem, gain cultural

experience, interact with like-minded peers, develop leadership

skills and give back to the community’.

Welcome to our Semester 2 CCA Program 2021.

A newly introduced committee that looks at opportunities for students to be involved in service - to each other, to the

school community and to the wider community. In term 4 last year, we ran fundraising and awareness campaigns for

CANTEEN, NAIDOC week and Red Nose Day. This year, I would like to see this role increase to the wider

community and work towards the students gaining recogni-tion for their service commitments. Students who are

interested in a particular cause should feel confident in raising their ideas and we will see what we can do. This

committee will, to some degree, overlap with the HOPE club by its very nature, since environmental care is also a

service to the wider community.
