he InternationalAssociation o Dental Students wasounded in 1951 inDenmark, in order

to serve the educational needs o dental students throughout theworld. Representing the interests o the more 200,000 dental studentsin around 50 countries worldwideand having it’s headquarters at

the FDI World Dental Federationheadquarters in Geneve(Switzerland), the Associationstrives or educational andscientic excellence throughout

the international projects andinitiatives it manages.

The dental students’ educationalneeds sometimes go beyond thedental curriculum and clinicalpractice within the Faculty, thestudents eeling the necessity totaste extracurricular activities suchas being engaged into abroadinternships, prophylaxis/ voluntary

activities, media or other ones,this way becoming leaders o their dental student community. The International Association o Dental Students has constructed

Reaching the clinical dental aspectso another country or Universitycan now be easier done throughthe IADS International ExchangeProgram, the dental students

being able to participate in up to4 weeks dental clinical internships.The International Dental ResearchProgram gives the opportunityto dental students o working indental research projects abroad,thus educating and creating thetomorrow’s dental researchers.Prophylaxis and Voluntary projectsare organized in each membercountry separately or in a remote

Students willorganize it’s 60th AnnualMeeting, which will gathertogether dental studentsand young doctors romover 50 countries worldwide.

The event has aspecial trait, as the activitiesare organized or the rsttime in the history o IADS

in two dierent cities -Istanbul (Turkey - August27th - 31st) and Bari (Italy- September 1st - 4th). Thedecision was taken by theIADS General Assemblyduring the Annual Meeting- Romania 2012, due to the

great candidacies in termso proposed activities o the both countries. The 1stpart o the Congress will be

organized in cooperationwith the FDI World DentalFederation 101st AnnualMeeting in Istanbul (Turkey),while the Italy part will havethe support o the IADR-CEDAnnual Congress in Florence.

The Meeting will contain arich educational program in

the orms o Student LectureContest, International DentalSpeakers, Workshops, aswell as it will serve as aground or the reunion o the General Assembly o theorganization.
