A Welcome and Introduction

Hi! Thanks for your interest in helping to support Portland Design Pup! We’re so happy you’re here! Since 2015, our mission has been to make it easy for members of our community to find and participate in conversations about the impact of design in our everyday lives. Here’s how we’re doing it:

• DesignCalendarThe Pup is perhaps best known for our master calendar, sharing events for dozens of local organizations and individuals through our website, weekly email digests, and social media channels. Stay in the know with what’s happening around town, and see what’s ahead as you plan your next event. Free + open-source for all.

• WeekendPupdate Every Sunday evening, we send out an email to over 1,100 subscribers listing all events happening in the week ahead. The digest also includes current volunteer opportunities, job postings, recent blog posts, and a short musing from yours truly. Subscribers enjoy this note delivered directly to them each and every week.

• DesignPupBlog We like to share what’s going on around our design community both within, and outside of, Portland. We’ve written extensively on Portland’s role in past CSI and AIA national conventions, and we also use the blog to call attention to local opportunities that are relevant, but outside the scope of stand-alone events.

• JamieHendricksonMemorialLectureSeries Since 2017, we’ve gained a reputation for hosting quarterly lectures, bringing innovative designers from around the world to share their work and process in a range of design disciplines with our community. The series helps inspire our local designers to create a more beautiful, resilient, and equitable future.

• CommunityResources For those looking to get involved in our community, we share links to all Portland-area design organizations and blogs, where they can learn more about the organizations that mean the most to them. We also regularly share current volunteer opportunities to help volunteer-seekers easily find ways to get involved.

• JobsBoard We’re honored to have a following of some of Portland’s brightest and most talented architects and designers. Knowing that’s the targeted audience that your firm is looking for when hiring, we host a jobs board helping to connect talented firms with talented designers looking for the next step in their career.
