Učenci 1. m razreda iz mednarodnega oddelka imajo radi izzive, se učijo novih veščin, kot je pisanje in pripovedovanje zgodb, ter postajajo ‘risk-taker-ji’. Tako so se preizkusili v različnih vlogah. Postali so poeti in zapisali nekaj misli o sebi v kratkih pesmicah, ki se tokrat niso rimale, v času šolanja na daljavo pa tudi vešči pripovedovalci pravljice o treh majhnih prašičkih, kjer so si pomagali z lutkami, plastelinom, prstki ali drugimi pripomočki.

GREMO MI LJUBLJANSKEGA ZMAJA SPOZNAT Okoli Ljubljane straši ljudi. Tam malo postoji in gleda naokoli. Tam vidi kako e’n Ljubljančan pred njim beži, začne ga lovi’t a plen mu beži. on besen postane iz ušes se mu kadi, in ogenj iz ust prežene vse ljudi. In zmaj pravi “ni heca z menoj ti plen boš moj”. A je zmaj brez hrane odšel je domov, tam malo je postal, zase se je zbal in tako za zmeraj ob mostu zaspal. Tijan Aleš, 6. b

Neža Pakiž Arko, 4. b ZELENI ZMAJ Na Zmajskem mostu je zeleni zmaj tam v bližini je zelo lep kraj. Zmaja ima Ljubljana na zastavi to je simbol mesta pravi. STRAŠNI ZMAJ Ko zmaj nad mesto prileti, zakrije sonce, prestraši ljudi. Ljudje kriče se razbeže, se skrivajo v hiše in kleti. Ker vedno jim za življenje gre, iščejo junaka, da zmaja ulove. Dopolnil bom nebo Povsod se nam kaže ta pomanjkljivi košček. Misli nam umaže, majhen in predrzen košček. Tudi če samo je pajčevina ali lonček, povsod se skriva ta majhen lonček. Luknja v majici zašila se ne bo. Jo bom jaz zdajci, da dopolnil bom nebo. Za dopolnitev neba koščkov je zelo veliko. Če pa vsak naredi enega, smo uokvirili to veliko sliko. Miha Jelinčič, 7. c

Samota

Ko si sam in nikogar ni več s tabo tam, takrat si čisto, čisto sam in si želiš drugam. Ko si sam, nikogar ni, ki reče, nisi sam, tu sem in ne grem nikamor drugam. Lahko si sam, ko stopiš tja in reče, pojdi stran pa bodi sam. A nikoli, prav nikoli nisi sam, če je prijatelj tam in reče, pridi k nam in ne bodi sam. Lejla Colnar Trojok, 7. c

Stres

MY STREET IN THE CITY OF THE FUTURE

Our world is evolving, quickly, and so are our streets – our homes. We cannot stop it, but we can at least be somehow prepared for what is to come. Today, most of us live in two worlds: in the real one and the virtual one. And that is a problem. The two of them are starting to merge into one another. Now the question is, are the streets going to become an escape from the virtual world or is the virtual world going to dominate our streets as well? I am torn between two possible outcomes and would like to depict them both by introducing two opposing views. I think the world is going to be quite different from what it is today. In the worst case, our streets are going to be used only for transport, full of robots and looking like something out of a video game: fast cars roaring past tall concrete buildings, divided into living cubicles, people with empty eyes gazing through the windows not aware of their surroundings, safe but lifeless. Well, that is a very dark and non-optimistic aspect. I believe we can do better than that. And we will do better than that, because we, the young people will not let that happen. We will not jeopardize our humanity to be “safe”. We will not be watched everywhere we go. We will not let our kids play games like “don’t get caught on a camera,” and we will certainly not be pawns of world leaders in a giant “Big Brother” reality. That is a great plan, but isn’t that already happening? I mean, in big cities there are cameras in every corner and it does not take long to hack into them and spread the footage. The owners of big world-wide companies and other people with great power are controlling our lives every day with their strategic moves. We cannot escape it; we are already in it too deeply. So, let’s provide for a change by starting with making changes in our lives, our homes, our communities – in our streets. I love my street. It is a very welcoming place. Usually, it is full of children running around, riding bicycles, and walking their dogs. It is a meeting place for people of all ages. From caring mothers

hurrying around with their strollers, to young students lying on benches complaining about their problems, to frail elderly people pacing up and down the street enjoying the evening sun. And I want it to stay that way. But in the future, I am afraid, there will be fewer children outside, less and less social interaction, less and less life as we know it today. If we are not aware of the negative changes in society, soon, people are going to be walking their programmed robot dogs, instead of the real ones, unpredictable but loving animals. Children are going to be schooled at home, they will sit in front of their screens all day long without basic face-to-face human interaction. Maybe a part of society wants that. Everything safe, everything under technology’s control. Exactly. So why worry? Why not let things run their course? Because most of the people that are making those decisions today, do not understand the consequences. I like the world as it is, but right now it is starting to become less and less raw, unfiltered, and most importantly – less real. We, the young generation have to take things in our own hands. There are many young people out there who have ideas and are willing to execute them, the world just has to give them a chance. There are countless ideas and research papers on smart cities, green environment plans and other technical innovations that could make the world truly a better place. In some parts of the world, those plans are already in process, we just have to take them to a global level. In 50 years, I want my street to reflect the world. I want all the infrastructure to be advanced and eco-friendly with energy-saving buildings, geothermal heating, solar panels, garages for electric cars. However, I want the street to be full of life - people growing vegetables on their balconies, a tree in front of every entrance with birds in their treetops, and flowerbeds under every window. I want it to be welcoming to everyone – every race, culture, religion. I want people to be modern, aware, accepting, and understanding. I also want the people to have good leaders, who can fulfil all of their duties and work for the

sake of the community. My street would benefit from it as well. I have to admit, that would be great. But how are we going to get to that? It is pretty hard to imagine everyone even agreeing to these ideas, executing them would be even harder. Some countries cannot afford all of this smart technology and in some places, it is just physically impossible. That is why we, the population of the Earth, have to think rationally. Where there is no chance that these projects come true, we have to think of ways to make the current situation better and as technologically advanced as possible. But where the ideas are applicable, we should do everything in our power to make them become the reality.

Our streets are our homes, our communities, our lives. When people, living there, change, they change. And they are changing steadily every single day. With these small communities evolving, the whole world is evolving. Today, they are a place to escape from the virtual world, but one day, the streets will become the virtual world. Or the other way around. Who knows? We cannot predict the future. And that is the charm of reality. We do not know, what is going to happen tomorrow. And that’s pretty exciting.

THE SEA LEVEL IS RISING

The sea level could rise by about 2 meters to the end of this century Almost every day we hear something about climate change – warnings, predictions… and often we ask ourselves: ‘’Are they true?’’ Although scientists don’t know exactly how our planet will react if there continues to be such a big temperature rise, too much greenhouse gas emissions… they are preparing different scenarios about how our <earth will react and what the consequences will be. According to scientist the sea level will rise between 60cm and 240cm at the current level of greenhouse gas emissions until the year 2100. Can you imagine what could happen? The ice from south and north pole will melt. There won’t be any natural habitats for polar bears, penguins, sea lions, seals, birds left. So, the sea level will rise for 2 meters. That means that the very populated coast of south-east Asia will be under sea level. We are all familiar with war emigrants. But not so long ago environmental migrants emerged. For example, if the sea level will flood some big coastal cities in south Asia, millions of people will move. But where? That is the question for a million euros. A lot of countries don’t want to accept such a large number of immigrants. There will be lack of food, water and place for everyone. But we still have the chance to change something. If you want to pollute less, you shouldn’t put hot food in the fridge. Eat all the food that you bought. If you have the opportunity, ride a bike or walk instead of going by car. With a small action we can make a huge difference. Together we can save our planet Earth. Ana Patricija Habič, 9. b

TIME TRAVEL

Imagine viewing history through your own eyes. Which century would you visit? Would we see the birth of civilization, where it all began? In my opinion there is a lot of interesting centuries in our history, but I think the most interesting is definitely the 19th century in America. I would visit the time where Jesse James lived and when the Civil War occurred.

Jesse James Jesse James, who lived from September 5, 1847 to April 3, 1882 was born in Missouri, U.S. He was an American outlaw, bank and train robber, and leader of the Jesse James Gang. James and his family maintained strong Southern sympathies. He and his older brother Frank joined Confederate guerrilla forces known as Bushwhackers in Missouri, during the Civil War. After the war, as members of various gangs of outlaws, Jesse and Frank robbed banks, stagecoaches, and trains across the Midwest, gaining national fame and often popular sympathy despite the brutality of their crimes. After the unsuccessful robbery, a lot of gang members were captured or killed. They continued in crime for several years afterward until they came under big pressure by the law enforcement. On April 3, 1882, Jesse James was shot and killed by Robert Ford, a recruit to the gang who hoped to collect a reward on James's head. Already a celebrity in life, Jesse James became a legendary figure of the Wild West after his death. Imagine the morale of the Jesse James gang. Every single person probably wanted to run with the gang. He was a very smart and tricky person. He had a bounty of over 5000 dollars. That would be my first visit. AMAZING! Civil War The American Civil War was a civil war in the United States from 1861 to 1865, fought between northern states, loyal to the Union and southern states, loyal to the Confederate States of America. It´s cause was enslavement of black people in the southern states of America. The election of Abraham Lincoln in 1860 caused seven southern states to secede and form the Confederate States of America; four more states soon joined them. The War Between the States, as the Civil War was also known, ended in Confederate surrender in 1865. The conflict was the costliest and deadliest war ever fought on American soil, with some 620,000 of 2.4 million soldiers killed, millions more injured and much of the South left in ruin. If I was a time traveler I would go and see what actually happened on the battlefields of the Civil War. I would spectate Abraham Lincoln and his dialogue. He issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863. The proclamation declared "that all people held as slaves within the rebellious states are and henceforward shall be free." He was a great man. He was also an inspiration for the movie “Lincoln.” I would like to have a time travel device, to see so many events in the past. The thing is that if this existed, it would mess up the world. I would especially like to see all the other events in the Wild West. Filip Pavel Merzel, 9. a

THE FUTURE

The future will look different. We all know that. It is hard to think about the future. Because we are going to have things that we cannot imagine right now. Maybe we will meet aliens. They will be very different. When we talk about aliens, we think of green beings with big eyes. But there is more than that in space. There are things we cannot imagine. I think in the future we will have flying cars. The cars will be bigger, stronger, and safer. They will not be able to cross red lights or go too fast. I think there will be fewer incidents with cars. We will also have medicine for COVID-19. I will have a husband and maybe children and in the end I will die. I hope there will be less crime in the future and that COVID-19 will disappear. We will also find drugs for cancer. We will no longer live on this Earth. We will move to Mars or even a planet outside our solar system. But some people will still live on Earth. We will live longer. I hope that we will learn more about space and what comes out of it and in it. I hope that our future will be beautiful and fun, without wars and crime.

SLOVENIA

Slovenia is a normal small country? No, I do not think so. Slovenia is a beautiful, kind country with a beautiful history. If you do not believe me, read my piece of writing and I will present it in a special way. Slovenia is in the middle of Europe. We are not actually the part of Balkan. However, we have more things in common with Austria, but at the same time we have a very different culture, so we are not like any other country. In Slovenia you can find many special things. If you look on the map of Slovenia, you can see that we have a small piece of sea and the culture there is very similar

to our neighbour state Croatia. In the north west we have the Alps, which extend to Austria. However, in the north east there is the Prekmurje lowland region. This also continues to our neighbour country Hungary. Prekmurje is well known for its sweet dessert. In Slovenia we also have some famous sportsmen. I think that the most famous is the basketball player Luka Dončič. A very good sportsmen is also Peter Prevec who feels the wind very well when he jumps. People in Slovenia are a combination of everything. There are good and bed people like in every country. But I think Slovenian people are very kind. We also love animals. In almost every house there is a pet. At least a spider. Slovenian language is very special too. We do not have only singular and plural form. We have duality. How crazy is that! Like I said, Slovenia is a very different country. I feel like it is not even from our planet! It has duality, ravishing nature and awesome people. I am very proud of Slovenia and I will be amazed if you are too. Maja Bizjak, 8. c

SLOVENIA

May all people thrive

That yearn to see the day When wheresoever the Sun walks,

strife shall be banished from the world. When every kinsman

shall be free And not a devil but a neighbor shall the joining-land's dweller be!

These verses represent Slovenia. They represent us, our nation. We should be proud of what we built over all these years because I am. I live in Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia for thirteen years now. That means that I live here for all my life. But today I will not write about myself, I will write about my beautiful and peaceful country. Slovenia is a country in Central Europe. It is located between Austria in the north, Croatia in the south and Hungary in the east and northeast and Italy in the west. It is a small country with only 2 million people, but it is very special to me. It has got a lot of interesting facts. One of them is, that our nation loves bees. We also have our sort of bees. We call them Carniolan bees. My country is very famous for one of the world's most beautiful lakes-Lake Bled. In its center it has got a small island with a church and a small museum. Our country goes deep underground too. Postojna cave is a very big and beautiful cave. In it lives the human fish, a very rare breed of animal. We have a lot of important holidays. However, in my opinion the most fun holiday is Pust because people dress up in costumes and because it is very connected to our Slovenian tradition. The people in Slovenia are not very special. We are ordinary people. However, I can say that we are very peaceful, workable people and we are always prepared to help. These are the reasons, why I love my country. SO, WHY DO I HATE SCHOOL?

Such a common question that is constantly asked but we never have the time to explain it because it’s way too complicated. So normally most people just assume it’s because of homework, annoying teachers or because we’re too lazy and we don’t want to work. I’m sure that’s the case for some people, but here is my view on our education system and school itself. I’m not here to bore you with the facts about how the government funding for school is nowhere near perfect because we all probably know about that. I’m here to tell you the flaws that the system constantly ignores because the problems have existed for centuries and are way too difficult to correct.

1. School is based on industrial age values. Our society is constantly evolving and changing while on the other hand our school system hasn’t changed much in the past hundred years. Our schools were developed in the industrial age and back then people valued obedience. That’s where the need to control students at all times came from. So basically, students are supposed to follow instructions all day and do as we’re told. These are good qualities to have, especially for industrial workers which are supposed to follow orders. However, we live in a way more modern society where most common values are creativity, leadership skills, excellent communication and collaboration. The skills are hard to develop on your own especially in schools with industrial age values.

2. When exactly were we supposed to learn time management? Studies show that adolescence are nocturnal. Which basically means our biorhythms cause us to stay up late and wake up later. Yet school still starts at 8:20am. Every minute is controlled by the system. They organise our schedule the very second, we start with school. In the real world we need time management skills which we never learned in school until this whole pandemic. And even now we have to learn it ourselves. School has never taught us that we are in charge of our own lives we always just had to follow what was laid down in front of us. It’s no wonder we are demotivated and bored at school when all we do is listen and obey. We rarely have the freedom of thought.

3. Inauthentic learning. Studies show that standardised test scores DO NOT accurately measure future success. But those are still the barometers of acceptance. Our learning relies on memorisation and route learning. This system decides on what we need to know and learn. And then every few months they test how much we have remembered. We know that such learning is not authentic because most of it is gone the day after the exam. There are so many other ways of learning not just memorisation but that’s the only thing we measure. On the end we don’t value the actual education but our test scores. This has created a toxic society for students, parents and teachers.

4. Lack of acknowledging differences between pupils. The system sabotages dreams and ambitious due to the standards that we have to uphold in school. We all have to learn the same stuff to fit into society and uphold the expectations. Rear school acknowledge that pupils learn in different ways. So, if you’re a bit slow in learning you are considered a failure.

5. Motivation by fear. Teachers have always told us if you don’t study, you’re going to fail and that’s where it all starts. Self-doubt and the fear of failing are some of the most common things in adolescence (it continues with the fear of not getting a good job, the fear of not being competent enough, the fear of not being able to provide for yourself let alone your family…). Schools are more focused on the material itself and what we need to know, then the student's thoughts. Which leads to not being able to express yourself the way you want to and basically self-doubt. Those are the two main reasons why people don’t proceed or follow their dreams. We have been taught that if you fail your automatically dumb. As children we have always been taught to get everything right in fact we were rewarded if we got it right the first time. This develops the mentality that we should never fail. This mindset is completely self-sabotaging. Because not everything in life it’s supposed to be that perfect. If we got everything right the first time, we would just get bored with everything we tried. But failure makes us want to try again and learn from past mistakes. And last but not least here’s a sentence that I want you to think about, so you see what goes through my mind daily: Success is supposed to be our goal, but we don’t even know what the world itself is supposed to stand for. Some people might not agree with my opinion because they usually just say you just think that way now it will pass when you get older, and you understand it. Well guess what I’m in school and I have to deal with this stuff every day so I’m just expressing what I think about it right now. FREEDOM OF SPEECH

Freedom of speech is a great problem to talk about nowadays. It is not only a thing, that is not tolerated in some countries, but it is also bad, because someone could state their opinion on a political party and they would get locked up for just saying what they think about what they do wrong. Freedom of speech is a huge problem in some countries like Saudi Arabia and Thailand, where you can get imprisoned for disrespecting the country's leader, in Thailand’s case this is the king of Thailand. This basically makes the habitants have some sort of awe for the king. Freedom of speech is slowly becoming a regular human’s right in most countries, but is still limited to some point, at which people would be straight up insulting everyone for what they are doing. Protests are also a form of freedom of speech, since people usually walk the streets to spread an important flaw and share it with both the government and the world. Protests usually consist of thousands of people, that

have the same opinion on what should happen with the laws/rules in the country. For example, the huge protests all over the USA were a cause of a police officer killing George Floyd and black people not being treated the same as white people, which started the Black lives matter movement. The protests were not “regular” ones (people did not roam the streets peacefully and respectfully to others), because there was a lot of aggression, such as destroying cars, burning trash in the middle of the street, destroying stores, writing graffiti tags all over buildings and so on. Freedom of speech also connects to some problems with marriage between two people of the same gender. This sort of marriage is allowed in about 90% of all states in the USA. In Europe most of the more northern countries already allow marriage between two people of the same gender, but some still have minor or even major (limiting marriages to the opposite gender-Russia) restrictions. In Asia a lot of countries still haven’t allowed this sort of marriage. A case of that would be Saudi Arabia, where you can get imprisoned

for getting married with a person, that is the same gender as you. Freedom of speech is still a big problem in today’s society. Some countries do not allow you to disrespect their leaders and some do not allow you to marry a person of the opposite gender. This is a big problem for some people, that want to express themselves as they wish and not be restricted

by the rules of their country. It is a problem, because imprisoning just for people’s opinions or their sexual orientation is extremely wrong. I think people should always be free to express themselves with their feelings and opinions. Gašper Žnidaršič, 9. b

GLOBAL WARMING

Global warming is a natural process, but it’s speeding because of all the human activities related to pollution. The biggest cause for warming is deforestation - destruction of the Amazon rainforest “the lungs of the world”. The consequence of this is less oxygen and more carbon dioxide which causes the greenhouse effect. Greenhouse gases and other air pollutants collect in the atmosphere, where they absorb sunlight and solar radiation that have bounced off the Earth's surface. In normal conditions those gasses would

escape into space, but this pollutants can last centuries trapped in the Earth’s atmosphere and this causes global warming. Warming can cause serious problems, like melting ice on Arctica and Antarctica. This is a big problem because all of the animals that live there like penguins and polar bears, because their natural habitat would be ruined, but that’s not all. Sea level would also rise, caused by melting of two continents. This problem is linked to all cities that are next to coast and are low enough that they can be flooded. Other problem of warming can also be longer and more intense heat waves. In a few decades warming will result extinction of many animal and plant species. Global warming is a global problem and I think people should be aware of it. Many organizations are trying to stop pollution by advertising global warming. They are trying to convince leaders of countries to pay more attention to the problem and find possible solutions. We can also do a lot by ourselves. For example: we can use public transport, ride a bike or take a walk. We can also help a lot if we buy as much food as we are actually going to eat and try not to discard if it isn’t necessary. Our families can invest in reusable sources of energy (not fossil fuels) and make sure our homes are well insulated so that there is no such waste. I think we should take this seriously, because there are still so many things we can make right if we step together. If we do just one right decision every day for our planet, there will be a big change. We should take care of our planet because as many people say, there is no planet B. Hana Marc, 9. a

SCHOOL / SCHOOL SYSTEM

School. School is something every one of us has to go through. School is supposed to be our safe space where we can grow, make friends, discover our talents … but is it? Is it really? Nowadays school is a burden for kids, something they are afraid of, constant anxiety and worry, but why? How did something that had originally good intentions become the biggest fear of teenagers? I think everything starts with grades. And don’t get me wrong I think grades are a good way of showing what are we capable of, what are we good at, what do we need to improve, but we are all different in so many ways and I don’t think there should be the same standard for every single student especially when it comes to subjects like music, art, PE, where I find it unfair for someone to be graded poorly just because you are not a good singer or you don’t have a rhythm, maybe you can’t draw that well, or you just aren’t that physically capable. Subjects like this I still think we should keep, but not necessarily grade. Let’s be honest with ourselves, we don’t really grab a schoolbook or a notebook because we want to learn new things so badly, no it’s actually just so we can get a good grade, to us that sounds normal because that what we were doing for the last 9 years, but it’s the wrong reason. I feel like here the motivation starts to fade, because we are not doing this for ourselves but for everyone around us, for our parents, teachers ... When we were 5, 6 we were put into a system that we just had to adjust to when it should be the opposite. I understand that the school system cannot be changed through the night, but still I feel like school could try a little more to adjust to us. School system still works in the same way it did generations ago by controlling. My dad studied a lot about generations and how they work, so people in business wouldn’t have problem with communications between different generations. Our generation (gen-z) works by empowering and based on that I feel that there should be more group working, and I don’t mean presentations, no I mean in general I feel that students should be more connected between class, so that a lesson wouldn’t be like teacher-student, but more like student-student with a teacher (I hope that makes sense). I feel like when it comes to new themes, new chapters at certain subjects, teachers should give us work to do alone in groups of people that you are comfortable with. Make a lesson into a game, add a little competition in if you would like, even if we are in 9th grade, we are still just kids. I know a lot of teachers are already doing that, but I still think it should be more common. We don’t need a leader that is going to control and tell us what we have to do. No. We just need each other and someone that will empower and encourage us, so we are comfortable with expressing our thoughts and feelings. I feel a lot of us are afraid to tell what we truly think or our true opinions, because we are afraid, we are going to be shut down, based on that stupid self-doubt that we build through years of school. So, my conclusion is that the school system should start to adjust based on the generation that is in the school, with learning how their minds work and the best way they would work together. There is a lot of studies explaining generations and how they work, how different school effect every single one. I know maybe a lot of things I wrote didn’t exactly made sense, because it’s so much harder to put it into words than it seems, but I still hope it could help in the future.

SLOVENIJA PRAZNUJE 30 LET V šolskem letu 2020/2021 so učenci 8. in 9. razreda v času priprav na tekmovanje iz znanja slovenščine za Cankarjevo priznanje spoznavali pripovedke, kratke zgodbe slovenskega pisatelja Mateta Dolenca, ki so zbrane v zbirki z naslovom Kako dolg je čas. Basni, pravljice so bralce popeljale v svet morskih bitij, v zeleni Bohinj, med igrive dolenjske griče in v mestni vrvež. Glavne junakinje pripovedi so živali, ki mlade in malo manj mlade bralce opozarjajo na glavne težave Slovenije in sveta. Pisatelj le pripoveduje in hkrati opominja predvsem mlade, kakšni morajo biti, da bo prihodnost naše čudovite Slovenije lepa. Maja, Naja, Manja in Maruša so svoje znanje in misli strnile v štiri odlične spise, Nuša in Mija pa so jih ilustrirale. JE SLOVENIJA RES TO, KAR MORA BITI

Kako dolg je čas? To je vprašanje, ki vznemirja veliko ljudi, a nihče nima pravega odgovora nanj. Koliko je dolga ena minuta, je čas res relativen, koliko časa sem spala? Vse to se je spraševala tudi stara želva Staronja, ki ni razumela besede čas. Komaj je začela razmišljati o času, že je bilo njenega konec. Odgovor ve samo ena oseba. Oseba, ki je želvi podarila življenje z nalivnim peresom. To je naš Mate Dolenc. Tako kot želvi je Mate življenje izoblikoval še veliko drugim živim bitjem, ki imajo skupno točko. Živijo v Sloveniji. V čudoviti deželi, ki pa se ji bo morda njen čas kmalu iztekel samo zaradi človeške pohlepnosti.

Mate Dolenc, rojen 5. oktobra 1945 v Ljubljani, je zelo povezan z morjem. To se vidi že, ko preberemo prvi stavek v knjigi Kako dolg je čas. Ni mu vseeno za naše slovensko morje in deželo. Ljudi ozavešča o resnih problemih in kdaj to pove na malo preveč oster način. Rad živi in piše o naravi, a ni bilo vedno tako. Bil je navaden mestni fant. Obiskoval je srednjo šolo in fakulteto v svojem rojstnem kraju. A dokaj kmalu je ugotovil, da takšno življenje ni zanj. Posvetil se je pisanju ter postal svobodni pisatelj. To mu odgovarja, saj je rad sam svoj šef. Zdaj živi v Bohinju, saj je, kakor je sam rekel, kar sit mesta, kar ga čisto razumem. Ko si v naravi, se lahko posvetiš samo sebi. To je tudi zelo dobro izkoristil, saj je v tem času za revijo Kekec napisal veliko kratkih pripovedi, basni oz. kratkih zgodb, ki pa jih je kasneje na pobudo založbe Beletrina leta 2019 zbral v knjigo Kako dolg je čas. Ker je njegova knjiga tako zaslovela, je dobil tudi pisma veliko mladih in starejših bralcev. Na nekatere ima tudi kar neprimerne komentarje. Z nekaterimi njegovimi trditvami se ne strinjam. Še posebej s trditvijo, da Slovenci nismo državljani, ker tako ali tako nimamo več države. Prav je, da pove, kaj si misli, a ne na takšen način. K ponovnemu združenju Slovencev bi bolj prispeval s tem, da bi ljudem svetoval in jim bil vzor. A v svoji pripovedih nam je želel sporočiti ravno to. Povedal nam je, kakšno državo si želi. Iz pripovedi vidimo, da mu veliko pomeni slovenska kulturna dediščina, kar se lahko razbere iz zelo poglobljene pripovedi o novem Bohinju. Slovenci si preveč želimo biti podobni sosednjim in ostalim državam in čisto spregledamo našo naravo, ki je edinstvena. Namesto da bi cenili svoje živali, ki živijo v naših gozdovih, si želimo nekaj bolj eksotičnega, kar ni prav. Mate nam je to tudi zelo jasno povedal. Pisatelj se zavzema tudi za drugačne politike. V pripovedih kdaj še preveč nazorno namigne, kdo sta Črni in Lepi princ. Mislim, da bi to malenkost lahko obdržal zase, saj imamo zelo različna mnenja in prepričanja. Zelo zanimiva je bila pripoved o ribi lampugi. Z njo nas pisatelj opozarja na onesnaženost našega majhnega koščka morja. Opiše ga namreč z besedo brozga. A z njim se strinjam. Ko sem si celotno sliko ob branju predstavljala, sem bila zelo žalostna. Žalostna nad tem, kakšni ljudje so v Sloveniji, da dovoljujejo takšno uničenje. Kakor sem že povedala, je to drugačna knjiga, ki je sama ne bi vzela s knjižne police, če ne bi bila obvezno čtivo za Cankarjevo tekmovanje. Ko knjigo odpremo, nam pozornost takoj pritegnejo čudovite ilustracije Ane Maraž in v zanimivih naslovih so pogosto omenjene živali, ki pa v knjigi ne samo nastopajo, ampak včasih tudi pripovedujejo. Pridruži pa se jim tudi Mate sam in vsevedni

pripovedovalec. Pripovedi, ki jih pripoveduje sam Mate, so mi najbolj pri srcu, saj se takrat počutim, kakor da bi v njih nastopala tudi sama. Mate v svojih pripovedih uporablja veliko poosebitev ter s tem živali, še posebej morske, naredi še bolj trapaste, a zelo prikupne. To je mene k branju še bolj pritegnilo. Same zgodbe so v antologiji teh kratkih pripovedi razdeljene na morske in kopenske. Zanimivo pa je, da morske pripovedi oddajajo čisto drugačno energijo kakor kopenske. V morskih je velik poudarek na sožitju in odnosih med morjem in okolico, medtem ko se kopenske, ki so postavljene v mesto ali Bohinj, bolj posvečajo globalizaciji in industriji, posledično pa so mi morske ljubše. Meni najljubša pripoved ima naslov Kapa iz kaper. V njej je zelo lepo opisano, kako že majhna prijaznost in radodarnost nekomu zelo polepšata dan, mogoče celo življenje. Tudi sama pa poskušam, da bi takšen občutek, kot ga je doživela čer, sprožila tudi kakšnemu človeku. In zagotovo se ne strinjam z rekom, da je dobrota sirota. Ravno obratno. Dobrota te v srcu bogati in osrečuje. Knjiga Kako dolg je čas je posebna knjiga. Na prvi pogled zgleda otroška in tudi je. A otroci berejo na drugačen način kot odrasli in odrasli na čisto drugačen kot otroci. Otroci se bodo ob branju zabavali, starši pa sprevideli, kakšne težave so v svetu in Sloveniji, kajti Mate le napiše, kar sliši na kopnem in v morju, in vse je resnično. Zdaj, ko sem prebrala knjigo, je lažje razumeti čas in okolico okoli sebe. Spoznala sem, da je vse relativno in da je narava srce naše domovine Slovenije. Maja Bizjak, 8. c

KAKO DOLGO BOMO ŠE Vse najboljše, Slovenija! Naša prekrasna država, umeščena med vrhove Alp, nižine Panonije in obalo Jadrana. Dih jemajoče skalne stene nas navdajajo z občutkom varnosti in nas skrivajo pred širnim svetom, odprte ravnine in obala pa so kot odprto okno v življenje. Že trideset let smo lahko ponosni ter lahko rečemo: »Živimo v Sloveniji.« Mnogo ljudi ne bo vedelo, kaj in kje je Slovenija, ta neznana in nevidna dežela. A kako dolgo bo temu res še tako? Bomo postali svetovno znani in se spraševali: »Le katera nepomembna država pa je to?« Ali pa bomo sami izginili z obličja Zemlje? Kako dolgo bomo govorili slovensko in brali slovenske knjige? Kako dolgo še?

Dokler ohranjamo svojo kulturo in cenimo svoje umetnike, se nam ni treba ničesar bati. Dokler imamo pisatelje, ki se zavedajo svojega poslanstva in ga zavestno izpolnjujejo. Mate Dolenc, rojen 5. oktobra 1945 v Ljubljani, je izvrsten primer res dobrega in kvalitetnega slovenskega pisatelja. Za svoja dela je prejel mnogo zasluženih nagrad, kot so večernica, desetnica, nagrada Prešernovega sklada, nagrada Društva slovenskih pisateljev, Levstikova nagrada in druge. Piše za otroke in odrasle, vedno pa je v svojih delih izjemno družbenokritičen – pa naj bodo njegova sporočila jasna ali pa skrita globoko med plastmi njegovega pisanja. Napisal je pet romanov za odrasle, med njimi Morje v času mrka, Peto nadstropje trinadstropne hiše, in ogromno del za otroke. Piše leksikone, otroške revije in potopise. Potopis Ozvezdje Jadrana je bil šolskega leta 2004/2005 celo izbran kot knjiga za Cankarjevo tekmovanje za učence sedmega in osmega razreda.

Kar deset let pa je pisal tudi kratke zgodbe, skupaj jih je okoli 150, ki odražajo njegovo rast in spreminjanje kot pisatelj in človek. Sproti so bile zgodbe objavljene v reviji Kekec, leta 2019 pa je založba Beletrina, ena najbolj priznanih slovenskih založb, izdala knjigo z naslovom Kako dolg je čas, v kateri je zbrano malo manj kot petdeset Dolenčevih zgodb. V zgodbah oziroma pripovedkah, avtor še sam ni prepričan, v katero kategorijo sodijo, ki so na videz namenjene otrokom, se pod plaščem hudomušnosti in ironije skriva avtorjeva pikra osebnost. Sam pravi, da teorije pisanja, čeprav je primerjalno književnost študiral, nikoli ni maral in ne zna pisati drugače kot spontano. Otrokom s pisanjem ne želi žugati s prstom in jih učiti življenjskih naukov, ampak želi, da resničnost, krutost, pa tudi lepoto življenja spoznajo sami.

Zgodbe so razdeljene na morske, ki se dogajajo ob Slovenski obali in na Jadranu, in kopenske, katerih dogajalni kraj je ponavadi Bohinj – kraj, kjer avtor preživlja velik del svojega prostega časa.

Sprva se zdijo dokaj neodvisne, a razgledan bralec med njimi hitro najde povezave. V morskih je pogosta tema ekologija, v kopenskih pa se včasih bolj, včasih manj očitno posmehuje človeku in njegovim dejanjem. Pisatelj vsaki zgodbi doda osebno noto, njegov značaj in mišljenja je težko spregledati. Kljub občasnim očitnim napadom na slovensko politiko ga ne skrbi, da bi se publika na njegova dela slabo odzvala. Pravi namreč: »Vem, da z njimi ničesar ne sprejmem, a vsaj jaz si dam duška, izkašljam se ali pa recimo, kar pljunem. Ne objavijo mi vseh, večino pa. (...) Državljani pa tako nismo več, ker države nimamo.« Marsikdo bi mu namenil grd pogled na ulici, če bi ga slišal. A Dolencu je precej vseeno. Že kot otrok je bil nemirne narave, razen ko je ure in ure preživel v morju, pa še za Mladino je pisal skoraj tri leta.

Osebno se s pisateljem ne bi mogla bolj strinjati. Njegov način sporočanja in učenja mladih v zgodbah iz knjige Kako dolg je čas se mi zdi naravnost genialen. Dejstvo je, da se v življenju kultura in politika spremljata z roko v roki. Če bi se več slovenskih avtorjev za prihodnost tako zavzemalo in to bralcem podzavestno sporočalo skozi svoja dela, sem prepričana, da ne bi bilo tako, kot je zdaj. Dolenc si želi stabilno državo, ekološko osveščeno, nepokvarjeno z Lepimi in Črnimi princi, ki jih v zgodbah večkrat omenja. V eni izmed zgodb se poda iz mesta, razsvetljenega z lučmi, da bi našel zvezde. Zelo daleč gre, a zvezd ni. Z zgodbo opozarja na hudo svetlobno in drugovrstno onesnaževanje, ki je v Sloveniji še kako prisotno in resna težava, ki današnji oblasti morda ni ravno prioriteta. Tudi z zgodbo o jastogih, ki so se srečali na tromeji v Tržaškem zalivu in ugotovili, da čeprav pripadajo isti vrsti, imajo nekateri večje privilegije kot drugi, opozarja na neenakost med ljudmi, odnose med državami sosedami, pa tudi na mednarodne odnose nasploh, ki so zmeraj aktualna tema.

Meni je najljubša zgodba o pingvinih – Pingu in Frigu, dveh samčkih, ki sta skrbela za neizvaljeno pingvinje jajce. Ko sem zgodbo prebrala, sem bila prijetno presenečena in skoraj ganjena, pa tudi ponosna, da se je starejši pisatelj dotaknil tudi takšne tematike. Vesela sem, da se predstavljanje LGBT+ v slovenski kulturi pojavlja vedno bolj pogosto.

Zbirka zgodb, pripovedk, basni, antologija pisateljevih del si toliko različnih poimenovanj tudi zasluži, saj se s svojo večplastnostjo, medbesedilnostjo in kontrastom med realnostjo in fantazijo, človekom in naravo, dotakne skoraj vsega, kar življenje je. S skoraj filozofskim naslovom, pa tudi vsebino zajame človeške vrednote, lastnosti in napake. Spusti se v kritiziranje posameznika, pa tudi Slovenije same. Kaže izjemno razgledanost in poznavanje druge književnosti, zgodovine in aktualnega dogajanja.

Kot Slovenka sem ponosna na to, da bom lahko to knjigo postavila na polico in jo spet odprla čez nekaj let, morda pet, morda deset, in svoj pogled nanjo takrat primerjala s svojim razumevanjem danes. Upam, da bom takrat lahko še bolj ponosna na državljane, kot je avtor, kot sem na njih ponosna danes. Kljub svojemu strinjanju z avtorjem o ne najboljšem položaju, v katerem je Slovenija danes, sem vesela, da sem doživela njen trideseti rojstni dan. Ker ... Kaj pa vemo, kako dolgo bomo še ...

SLOVENIJA IN NAŠ ČAS Kako dolg je čas? To vprašanje si je postavil že marsikateri filozof, a ni našel odgovora nanj. Mar je čas relativen? Kdo bi vedel. Vsemu in vsakomur je čas štet, nihče in nič ni večno. Vsako sekundo se postaramo, smo bogatejši za eno izkušnjo, smo zrelejši. Vse na tem svetu se bo enkrat spremenilo. Tega vprašanja se je lotil tudi Mate Dolenc, svobodni pisatelj, ki je pri svojih petinsedemdesetih letih videl že kar nekaj sveta in občutil tudi moč časa. Kot sam pravi, so pravljice visoka vrsta literature, ampak le te morajo imeti pomen, ne smejo pa samo učiti, ampak morajo človeka postaviti pred resnična dejstva. Leta 2019 je v ta namen pri založbi Baletrina izšla nova antologija kratkih pripovedi Kako dolg je čas. Knjiga na videz sodi na police z mladinsko in celo otroško literaturo, a v resnici se po prostoru giblje brez letnice in časa ter s svojo skrito strupeno satiro oplazi tudi marsikaterega odraslega. Pisatelj opisuje predvsem aktualne teme, ki so predstavljene skozi oči živali, ki govorijo, izražajo čustva in so podobne nam, ljudem. »Živali imajo marsikaj za povedati,« je v enem izmed intervjujev povedal avtor in ima še kako prav. Kot je v recenziji Aksinja Kermuner napisala, da Mate le posluša in zapiše, kar sliši. Basni v knjigi se delijo na morske in kopenske, saj sta eni izmed največjih ljubezni Mateta Dolenca prav morje in hišica na robu gozda v Bohinju, kjer se odvija največ kopenskih pripovedi. V zapisanem pa se močno čuti Dolenčev bes do onesnaženja naše prekrasne narave in želje po dobičku, ki lahko ogrozi ne samo našo deželo, ampak tudi celoten ekosistem. V njegovih literarnih umetninah se srečamo s Tartinijevim Vražjim trilčkom, domišljavimi ostrigami, ki so čakale, da jih poje predsednik, z otoki in razjarjenim nebom, staro in novo bojo, netopirji, kamelami in pingvini ter z ježevcem Ivanom, ki je gori na Rožniku naredil tako škodo kot tisti legendarni Ivan, zaradi katerega smo danes tu, in še in še bi lahko naštevali. »Kar ima življenje, ima tudi dušo.« Na to trditev pisatelj prisega v vseh dimenzijah domišljije, ki jo je v teh zgodbah uporabil. Mate Dolenc se je res potrudil, da je vse težave in probleme naše dežele strnil v petdeset navideznih pravljic za lahko noč. V večini zgodb pa lahko opazimo, kako se je avtor kritično loteval težav in dejstev, ki pestijo našo malo Slovenijo. Majhnost pa je eden izmed naših največjih problemov. Ker smo majhni, mislimo, da smo neopazni in nepomembni. Ampak to ni res! Smo Slovenci! Smo naša mala deželica, ki jo na enem koncu omejuje morje, na drugem pa gore. Nista pomembni velikost in moč, saj je v mnogo majhnosti vedno nekaj velikega, kot pravi Mate Dolenc. Svoji deželi škodujemo tudi s tem, da nikoli nismo samostojni, ampak se kar naprej povezujemo z drugimi državami, ker se bojimo majhnosti in nepomembnosti. Pa je vredno? Pisatelj je predvsem kritičen do zanemarjanja našega okolja. To predstavi s trditvami, ki so resnične in boleče. Morje je okno v svet, ampak bledi. Obsežni gozdovi izginjajo, ker po našem lesu hrepenijo druge države. Živali pa nam hočejo nekaj povedati, ampak so preslišane in prezrte, čeprav vemo, da smo brez naših čebel, lipicancev, krav in ovac prav nič. Najbolje je to vpletel v zgodbah Kraljičin lipicanec in Novi Butalci. Pomembna sta slava in bogastvo, na vse drugo pa se preprosto pozabi. A pisatelju ni pomembna želja, da smo vsemogočni in znani. On je ponosen na naše gore, morje, prostrane vinograde, široke nižine z rumeno-zelenimi polji in na našo skupno tridesetletno zgodovino, ki nas povezuje v našo majhno deželico. A je naša kratka zgodovina res učiteljica življenja? Verjetno

ne. Ampak nam bo zato prihodnost pokazala, če smo šli v pravo smer. In to Mate Dolenc izraža v svoji literaturi. Knjiga pa se me ni dotaknila samo domovinsko, ampak tudi filozofsko. Najbolj me je navdušila kratka pripoved, ki ima isti naslov kot knjiga sama. O tej basni Kako dolg je čas sem dolgo razmišljala. Kako žalostno je, da želva Staronja ni vedela, kako dolgo je njeno potovanje, ki ga je prepotovala vsaj stokrat. Vsako leto isto. Od Itake in nazaj. Preprosto ni vedela, kaj je dolgo in kaj kratko. Čutila pa je, da se bo njen čas kmalu iztekel in res se na koncu je. A Mate Dolenc v svojih zgodbah noče skriti žalosti, ker je resnična in okrutna. Njegove literarne umetnine so hudomušne, vesele, žalostne, satirične in najpomembnejše – poučne. Na vsakem koraku nas v zgodbah vzpodbuja, naj se ne bojimo delati napak, ker se iz napak učimo. Skuša nam vcepiti ponos do domovine, na katero je on zelo ponosen, čeprav ga marsikaj glede nas, Slovencev, moti. Nam, otrokom, skuša na pravljični način predstaviti realnost, ki nas čaka, ko odrastemo. Z njim se strinjam v vseh pogledih in želim si, da bi se njegova trditev, ki jo je izjavil, da državljani pa tako nismo več, ker države nimamo, spremenila v čim krajšem času. Zdaj, po prebrani knjigi, pa lahko samo še razmišljam o vprašanju: »Kaj, če je vse res?« Naja Kapun, 8. c

VPRAŠANJA SLOVENIJE IN SVETA Knjige, ki so polne doživetij, kritične in hkrati resnicoljubne, so v svetu močno cenjene. Čeprav včasih dvignejo prah med ljudmi, nam lahko veliko povejo in sporočijo. Ena izmed takšnih knjig je tudi Dolenčeva knjiga Kako dolg je čas. Na splošno je zelo iskrena, kakor njen avtor Mate Dolenc. Zgodbe, ki so skoraj basni, v vsakem posamezniku vzbudijo raznolika vprašanja. Prav vsak jih lahko bere na svoj način, jih razume drugače kot drugi in ima svoje mnenje. Nekatere le predstavijo živali, druge pa komentirajo vsakdanje probleme. V veliki večini ima avtor lastno mnenje, a bralcem pusti dovolj prostora v zgodbi za lastno. Mate Dolenc s preprostimi zgodbami tudi veliko pove o Sloveniji. Poudarja lepo naravo in tudi probleme v organizaciji države. Pozitivno je, da svoje kritike izraža s pripovedmi in ne s protesti ali nasiljem. V Ljubljani rojen 5. oktobra 1945 tudi dobro pozna slovensko zgodovino in je bil prisoten ob nastanku države. Razvidno je, da ima Slovenijo rad in ga skrbi zanjo. Ponosen je nanjo ne glede na njeno majhnost in (ne)prepoznavnost v svetu. Posmehuje se ljudem, ki želijo slavo za našo državo, kar se opazi v zgodbi Kraljičin lipicanec. Črni ljudi, ki jo želijo spremeniti v podobno, skoraj enako kakor ostale svetovne države. Spodbuja Slovence, naj razmišljamo s svojo glavo in naj se ne gremo posnemajočih papig. Vse to izraža z Novimi Butalci in Lepim princem. Poleg političnih problemov Dolenc omenja tudi okoljske. Zaskrbljen je za naravo in živali, saj se zaveda, da si ne prizadevamo dovolj v skrbi zanjo. Prezira poslovneže s polnimi žepi denarja, ki po njegovem mnenju nimajo ne glave ne srca. Gradijo nove tovarne, si polnijo bančni račun, a za okolje jim je vseeno. Svobodni pisatelj tudi obsoja svetlobno onesnaževanje. Ne mara mestnih luči, saj ga motijo pri opazovanju zvezd. S svojo izjavo »Državljani pa tako nismo več, ker države nimamo.« Mate Dolenc govori o razcepljenosti ljudi v državi. Ves čas se prepiramo, vedno kritiziramo, a nič ne ukrenemo. On pa svoje mnenje izkašlja in pljune na dan brez zadržkov in nam s tem pomaga doumeti težave sveta. Menim, da je to odlično, in hvaležna sem, ker zadeve predstavi take, kot so, in jih ne omehča ali olepšuje. Mate Dolenc si želi samostojno, samozavestno, enotno Slovenijo. Spodbuja nas, da bi bili svobodomiselni, spoštljivi do narave in ponosni Slovenci. Svoje mnenje Dolenc jasno izraža v svojih zgodbah, a nam ga ne vsiljuje. Vsaka pripoved je na svoj način posebna in vse imajo neko sporočilo. Zato so se me vse dotaknile s svojo bogato preprostostjo in z vprašanji, ki se jih vsi sprašujemo. Vendar se me je najbolj dotaknila zgodba Sporočilo iz vesolja. Zakaj? Ker se sprašuje o vseh stvareh, ki so mi najbolj nejasne in se jih tudi sama sprašujem. Prva takšna tema je vesolje. Kadar pomislim na vesolje, se počutim majhno, a vem, da sem del nečesa veličastnega.

Vesolje je veliko, vesolje je posebno, vesolje je skrivnostno, prav tako kot ljudje. Imamo veliko glavo z veliko željami, mislimi, vsak je poseben in ima svoje skrivnosti. Ves čas se tudi sprašujemo: »Kam v vse vesolje pa spada Slovenija? Ali smo le nepomembna država in narod?« In moramo si odgovoriti: »Ne glede na majhnost smo pomembni in za seboj bomo pustili pomemben pečat v vesolju.« Potem se začnemo spraševati o drugih. Zanima nas, ali je še kdo v vesolju poleg Zemljanov. Bomo kdaj srečali vesoljce? Tudi to je pomembna tema. V tej zgodbi iz knjige, ki jo je leta 2019 izdala založba Beletrina, pa je še več vprašanj. Omenjena je tudi smrt in kako na nebu ugasne naša zvezdica, ko umremo. O smrti in koncih se ljudje ogromno sprašujemo. Nekateri ljudje so panični, se konca bojijo. Ostali pa se z njim sprijaznijo in jih ne skrbi. Konci pa niso le v koncu življenja. Slovenci smo zaskrbljeni o izgubi slovenščine. Bo naš jezik zdržal pritisk tujih? Upajmo, da bo. Mislim, da nam ni treba skrbeti, saj imamo izvrstne pisatelje in pesnike, ki slovenščino s svojimi deli vedno znova enačijo z ostalimi svetovnimi jeziki. Eden izmed njih je tudi Mate Dolenc. Hvala ti, Mate Dolenc, hvala vsem literatom, zahvaljujem pa se tudi založbam in knjižnicam, ker ohranjate naš lep jezik, kulturo, nas opominjate in učite. Knjiga Kako dolg je čas in Mate Dolenc nas opominjata. Zato vsi skupaj želimo Sloveniji vse najboljše in naj napreduje še naprej. Manja Brecl, 8. c
