The individual will develop strategic initiatives to increase attendance at intercollegiate athletic events held at SIUE and enhance ingame promotions to maximize the fan experience. This position will be responsible for sponsorship fulfillment at athletic events. The Graduate Assistant will work with coaches on promotional concepts and interface with the Sports Information Office and Ticket Office to coordinate and implement successful ingame promotions, halftime activities and ticket sales efforts. The graduate assistant will also be responsible for marketing events to SIUE students by utilizing social media and other outlets to promote events and games to generate awareness and increase attendance. The graduate assistant will also serve as the event manager for select Olympic sports, overseeing the game day setup, staff, marketing, etc. The GA will help maintain and promote Eddie’s Junior e Club, the kid’s club for SIUE Athletics. This position will also oversee the daily operations, ordering and budget for gameday merchandise. The graduate assistant in this position will develop skills in human relations, supervision skills, public presentations, and communication and documentation skills. Candidate must be available for evening and weekend events and comply with University, Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. In addition, the graduate assistant will assist with special events and other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletics Director for Sales and Marketing. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree required. Acceptance into SIUE Graduate School; must maintain a 612 hour course load per semester. Evidence of sound organizational skills. Ability to interact effectively with studentathletes, colleagues, and the public. Previous involvement in marketing, promotions, student activities, leadership development experience, and demonstrated communication and computer skills are preferred. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Graphic design and/or Photoshop & InDesign knowledge PERIOD OF APPOINTMENT: 10month appointment beginning August 1, 2015. SALARY: $896 per month stipend.
