Air quality considerations. . . . This week, we have had a number of days in which the air quality has been poor. On these days, students and staff have been staying indoors in air-conditioned rooms. We have also cancelled excursions and outdoor activities. We will continue to prioritise and plan school activities appropriately when needed. Happenings around the school . . . . We are conscious at this time that many communities are facing challenging circumstances with the loss of homes and important buildings in their community as a result of the recent bush fires. This week we have been in touch with Kempsey West Public, a school situated on the north coast of New South Wales to have a conversation about how we can support our wider community at this time. Dave Munday, principal at Kempsey West Public is coordinating some relief for schools in his area that have been most affected; specifically Willawarrin & Bellbrook schools. Clarke Road School will be having a Mufti Day on the 3rd December to raise money for these communities. Families will be given an opportunity to give some money by sending in a gold coin donation if they would like. If families would like they would like to donate a larger amount then they can do so by contacting Leanne in the office. Clarke Road School have also had a chance in the past few weeks to connect with other educational partners in our wider community by hosting visits for North Sydney Demonstration School, Glenvale SSP and schools in the Far West Network (Broken Hill region). These opportunities provide us with important connections and conversations as we continue to investigate and reflect together on how to build a culture which supports high standards in staff performance and innovative practices and new ways of thinking in our schools. Upcoming events . . . . The 12th December will be one of celebration as Clarke Road hosts our annual Presentation Day. Awards winners will be presented with their awards on stage with all students receiving a certificate in their classrooms afterwards. Presentation Day is a wonderful opportunity for us as a school to pause, reflect and acknowledge the gains that our students make; whether those gains are big or small, students steps towards independence and in learning are worth celebrating. All of our school community is welcome to join with us on this special day so please put the date in your diary. Have a look at some of our wonderful learners this week at our incursions …. Have a lovely weekend! Rebecca
