Self Guided Bicycle Tour Huntington Beach to
Newport Beach
1 Start on Bike Path at Huntington City Beach Parking Lot. Head south along bike path towards Huntington State Beach (away from the pier).
2 Ride approximately 3 miles and cross over bridge continuing on the path.
3 Veer left when path splits and follow bike path along highway. Cross
2nd bridge and continue straight.
4 Immediately across the bridge, cut through to the right and continue
South along Seashore Dr.
5 Turn right on 36th St.
6 When you arrive at the end of 36th St., turn left on bike path and ride to
the Newport Pier.
7 As you exit the pier, turn right onto the bike path from pier plaza and
continue South. Follow path until you arrive at the Balboa Pier and Plaza.
8 After departing the pier, turn right as bike path resumes at end of Pier/Peninsula Park.
A leisurely 3 to 4 hour tour, includes 2 -2 ½ hours riding
time and 1 ½+ hours for lunch, shopping and exploring along
the way. Partial tours available.

9 At the end of bike path, turn around and ride back towards Newport Beach to 36th St.
10 Turn right on 36th St.
11 Turn left on Seashore Dr.
12 At the end of Seashore Dr., cut through to your right to continue North along bike path.

Newport Island As you ride into Newport Beach,
you are actually riding on an island on the Pacific O c e a n . This island reflects the v i b r a n t S o u t he r n California l i f e s ty l e , providing lavish views, golden sandy beaches and warm ocean breezes.
Huntington Beach Pier Built in 1904, the pier has been a
fixture in the city for over 100 years and it is the most visit-ed landmark at H u n t i n g t o n Beach. Check out Tower Zero, the state-of-the-art lifeguard tower to find water temperatures, wave conditions and other information posted regular-ly. The U.S. Open Surfing Competi-tion is held here every July.
Newport Municipal Beach Newport Beach offers fine, soft sand
with plenty of room to enjoy yourself. Surfers, swimmers and sunbathers all bask in the warmth of beautiful Southern
California winter and summer days. Pelicans and sea-gulls also enjoy the year round climate.

Newport Beach Pier The Pier is a whirlwind of activity.
People of all ages flock here on bikes, skates and foot. There are many food-to-go shops and sit down restaurants near the pier.

Balboa Pier/Balboa Beach Balboa Beach is a friendly beach des-
tination with a kids playground and sand lot, public restrooms and much to see and do. You can ride the Balboa
Ferry across the Bay to Balboa Island. The island has shopping, eateries and more.

Santa Ana River The Santa Ana River begins almost
75 miles away in San Bernardino Coun-ty, California, in the San Bernardino
National Forest. It eventually reaches its end between Hun-tington Beach and Newport
Beach, where it spills into the Pacific Ocean. Despite much of the river being channelized in recent times, it still rep-resents one of the largest river systems in Southern California.

Huntington State Beach This family friendly beach is con-
nected to Huntington City Beach where there is plenty of room for bi-cycling, surfing, body boarding, skat-ing and surf fishing. The beach also has
fire rings for bon-fires. At the south-ern end across Pa-
cific Coast Highway are the Hunting-ton Beach Wetlands, operated by the Department of Fish and Game.

definitely want to visit the International Surfing Museum. ½ Block down Olive Street off Main Street you will find the museum, which highlights the surfing
