1215 Networking Capabilities with the FELIN Soldiers Deployment at the Platoon Level and Above Patrick Curlier, Vice President, Business Development, Optronics and Defence Division, Sagem, SAFRAN Group
A first FELIN battalion has been delivered in 2010 to the French Army and is planned to be deployed at a rate of 4 battalions per year till 2015. The FELIN soldier has been designed first to enhance individual capability in all domains of the close dismounted combat. However, FELIN functions as part of a team rather than alone on the battlefield and already demonstrated through field experimentation NEC during the conduct of operation at the platoon level and above. FELIN as for the other platforms shall maintain a comprehensive understanding of the situation with automated, fast and accurate information shared between combat team members. These information must stay abreast of the important elements; where am I, where are my teammates and where is the enemy. This presentation will detail the collaborative capability at the low tactical level (platoon and Inter - Arms company) used by dismounted leaders in their conduct of operation and expected to be implemented in the Army before 2015.
1245 Introducing the Jordanian Future Soldier Programme Development Strategy
Colonel Yousef Al-Etan, Programmes Department Manager, King Abdullah Design and Development Bureau, Jordanian Armed Forces
Soldier modernization in the Middle East is of great interest at the moment because of the vast wealth of many of the nations in the region but also because they have taken their time to discover from other countries what is working and what is not. We are delighted to welcome this year as a guest speaker Colonel Al-Etan, a figure well known in Jordan but new to the international soldier modernization community – this is his first presentation at Soldier Technology.
