SOLAR POWER technologyFor centuries, light has been used to measure time. In its collection of watches, SWISS MILITARY by Chrono implements modern SOLAR POWER technology in order to create an outstanding product. The interplay between tradition and innovation internalises ecological awareness whilst maintaining a high standard of reliability, precision and vibrancy.

Light as a source of powerSOLAR POWER technology uses natural or arti-ficial light as operating power. The dial of the watch channels the light to the subjacent solar cell which collects and converts it into electricity. The latter activates the motor of the watch so that excess energy charges the integrated battery. Having been charged completely, the watch, therefore, has the capacity to run in the dark for several months (power reserve).

Away with battery replacementSOLAR POWER technology makes cumber-some battery replacements redundant. Through the impulse of the natural propulsion of light your watch continues to run reliably and with the highest precision.

Ecology and sustainabilityConventional quartz watches have one charac-teristic in common: they run with the help of disposable batteries. Le cadran de la montre dirige la lumière vers la cellule solaire, située en dessous, qui l’absorbe et la convertit en électricité. L'électricité entraîne le moteur de la montre et l’excès d’énergie alimente la batterie rechargeable intégrée (accu). C’est pourquoi la montre continue à fonctionner dans l’obscurité pendant des mois après avoir été complètement chargée (réserve de marche noire).

Licht als EnergiequelleSOLAR POWER Technologie verwendet natürli-ches oder künstliches Licht als Antriebsenergie. Dabei eignet sich jede Art von Lichtquelle für den Antrieb. Das Zifferblatt der Uhr leitet das Licht auf die darunter liegende Solarzelle, welche dieses aufnimmt und es in elektrischen Strom umwandelt. Die Elektrizität treibt den Motor der Uhr an und überschüssige Energie speist den integrierten aufladbaren Speicher (Akku). Deshalb läuft die Uhr nach vollständiger Aufladung über Monate im Dunkeln weiter (Dunkelgangreserve).
