CONNECT FROM ANYWHERE

• Well Connected is a community made up of participants, staff, facilitators, presenters, and other volunteers who care about each other and who value being connected. All groups are accessible by phone from wherever you are at no cost to you.

• SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

• Whether you like art or zoology, music or meditation, there is a program for you. Each Well Connected session offers groups and classes on a wide range of topics. You’re sure to find one that interests you. And Well Connected meets 365 days a year, so there’s always a chance to connect.

• HOW DOES IT WORK?

• Well Connected members call in via a toll-free number at a set time each week, with some groups also offering the option to connect via computer, tablet, or mobile device. Most groups last 30 minutes to an hour with around 12 participants. Newcomers are always welcome! If you don’t feel like talking at first, you’re welcome to just listen as long as you’ve let the group know you’re there.

Social Call continues to provide visits by phone. We also have volunteer opportunities for those who wish to reach out to

isolated seniors by phone or mail. Click below to learn more. New participants are also welcome to join Social Call!

HOW IT WORKS

• As part of our commitment to fostering community, Covia matches volunteers with seniors on a one-to-one basis, bringing compassionate conversation and care into their lives and giving volunteers an opportunity to listen and learn. We are always looking for friendly, caring volunteers to provide support and friendship. If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer, please visit our page on Volunteer Match. All volunteers must pass a background check and attend an initial two-hour training program, which we offer regularly.

MAKE THE CALL If you or someone you know would benefit from Social Call, please contact us at 877.797.7299

Payments to Social Security beneficiaries will go out automatically

• According to the IRS, Social Security recipients and railroad retirees who weren’t required to file federal tax returns for 2018 or 2019 will receive $1,200 stimulus payments automatically based on information contained in their “1099” benefit statements. No additional paperwork is required, per the latest guidance from the IRS.

• The IRS reversed an earlier decision and now says it will look at “1099” benefit statements (Form SSA-1099 and Form RRB-1099) to get the information it needs to send out the $1,200 payments automatically in the same manner monthly benefits are received. The vast majority of Social Security recipients receive monthly benefits by direct deposit.

SSDI disability beneficiaries also to get payments automatically

• Stimulus payments will also go out automatically to Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) recipients who were not required to file tax returns for 2018 or 2019. Like Social Security beneficiaries, SSDI beneficiaries also receive SSA-1099 benefits statements every January, which the IRS will use to send the payments.

Confusion remains about stimulus payments to SSI, VA beneficiaries

• For those who weren’t required to file 2018 or 2019 tax returns, and who are not Social Security recipients, SSDI recipients or railroad retirees, the IRS has signaled that a “simple” tax return may be required even if you don’t typically file a tax return due to your income level.

• The IRS says it will soon provide more guidance to these individuals who are eligible for stimulus payments but who aren’t normally required to file tax returns. Most low-income taxpayers are eligible to file tax returns online for free through the IRS Free File program.
