Software History

C100

Issue DCN Date CommentsC100/2001 1 15134 Dec 95 Introduction of standard software.

2 15261 Feb 96 Software version and issue now displayed on power up. Company standard sets the MODBUS address to 1 instead of 0. PC Configurator ID now set to spaces by the company standard. Auto-tune now goes to the ‘off’ state on completion instead of an

‘end’ state - this allows another auto-tune to be started without first selecting the ‘off’ state.

Pressing the auto/manual key now stops an auto-tune. With issue 1 software, when the hardware configuration is set to

custom (U), any relay or logic o/p set as a control output will not work - this fault has now been corrected.

When the remote setpoint value is read via MODBUS (regs 4 & 5, 43 & 44) ratio & bias are now applied to the value returned.

The cold junction temperature is now displayed to the nearest 0.1°C instead of 1°C.

Enhancements have been made to allow the PC test rig in production to test the display and option board lines.

In the commissioning level invalid frames are not displayed to simplify and speed up testing (eg relays that are not fitted).

An error message is now displayed in the calibration frames if a calibration fails.

3 15287 Apr 96 Corrections for direct acting control with integral action.4 15352 July 96 Control output would lock at 0% for long periods of time,

resulting in poor control - fault corrected. In heat only applications, the control output value changes when

switching from auto to manual mode if the overlap value does not equal 0% - fault corrected.

If an auto-tune is started in manual, it now places the controller in auto if the auto-tune is completed successfully.

If an error occurs during an auto-tune, the controller now goes to the configured output value as well as selecting manual mode.

5 15386 Oct 96 Non-volatile memory refreshed continually to accommodate new memory devices.

Square root linearizer modified to produce a linear response for the first 4% of the electrical range.

Correction made to ensure the input does not fail on power-up when configured with an offset electrical range and a non-zero filter value.

On power-up the alarm relays no longer energise momentarily if the alarm condition is active.

Individual hysteresis values are now available by selecting “U” as the hysteresis setting in the configuration level.

Improvements made to the start-up auto-tuning. Correction to prevent the output from locking at 0 or 100% for a

period of time following recovery from an input failure. Correct display of remote setpoint failure in the remote setpoint

selection frame.

C100 (continued)

Issue DCN Date CommentsC100/2001 6 15440 May 97 Switch de-bounce improved to prevent noise being interpreted as

a key-press. MODBUS communications fault corrected, whereby incomplete

messages of less than 3 characters were causing the instrument to reset.

Heat/Cool control interaction fault eliminated, whereby Output set to 0% in Manual - with certain parameter settings would remain at 0% when switched back to Auto.

7 15542 Jan 98 Local setpoint stored in NONVOL, without the need for scroll key operation.

Correction to ensure reliable operation in MOD30ML backup operation.

Introduction of PSD313.8 15866 Mar 99 Correction to analog output, in the event the analog input greatly

exceeds the retransmission range. MODBUS: correction to response in respect of Coils 7, 9, & 11. MODBUS: correction to response in respect of Register 16. Correction in respect of automatic NONVOL saves for output 1,

in order to improve EMC performance.9 15890 July 99 Correction to control output value upon recovery from an input

failure.

Improvements to operation of archiving feature specifically with respect to corruption of smartmedia cards on insertion/removal.

2002/9 1002/7 16255 Apr 02

Addition of Optional Ethernet/Webserver Functionality.

Fault correction: When archiving analog data with a sample rate of greater than 5 seconds, the value in the archive file may be repeated a number of times when a new record is created in the internal data file.

Fault correction: When archiving Logs, some entries may be lost if the instrument is placed offline for enough time to accumulate at least 20 entries.

Fault correction: If archiving is configured for logs only (no data archiving), when archiving is put online the archive progress dialog box can remain on permanently.

Fault correction: The Reset Archiving command only resets Data archiving not Log archiving.

Fault correction: In archiving, when a History Dialog Box is displayed but a selection is not made for a long period of time the wrong data can be archived if all data is eventually selected.

Fault correction: On the High Voltage Digital Input Card (HVDIC) the relay polarity only works in positive mode.

Various corrections have been made to Modbus functionality as detailed below ;

a) Fails to respond to messages after receiving a large number of packets (5000+).

b) Resets when downloading a configuration to an ML using the same RS485 lines.

c) Does not respond to messages sent by a quick master. i.e. A master sends a packet and, upon receiving the response, sends another packet within 40mS, the SM fails to ‘see’ the second packet.

d) Fails to reply to up to 20% of messages received.

e) If the instrument is connected to a master at the time of power up, it immediately begins to miss messages.

f) At low baud rates the instrument is unable to read the maximum number of registers(120). At 1200 baud only ~ 65 registers can be read.

g) Excessive time consumption in the 100mS thread when communicating.

h) At low baud rates it is possible for traces not to be plotted when reading a large number of registers.

i) Good packets being thrown away due to error checking mechanism.

j) Modbus protocol not being adhered to (waiting 13.5 character times to signal an end of message).
