IntroductionThis presentation is concerned with certain characteristics of the
socio-cultural and psychological preconditions of
industrialization in the context of Bangladesh. The process of
industrialization and the growth of industrial capitalism in
Bangladesh were integrally connected with the consolidation of
British colonial rule and the transformation of Bangladesh from a
feudal into a colonial country which transformed the economy of
Bangladesh into an appendage of the metropolitan economy.

Commercialization of Agriculture
With the rise of Capitalism in Indian society agriculture was
commercialized.
• Surplus Production
• Commercial Class
• Chief Labor
• Monopoly Market
Specialization
Here, specialization is indicating the emergence of
division of labor which means individuals are provided
with a single or limited tasks according to their merits
and ability. It was very significant for the development
of industry in Bangladesh.
Breakdown of Self Sufficient Village Community
• A self-sufficient village community was based on agriculture, carried
on with the primitive plough and bullock power and handicrafts by
means of simple instruments, was a basic feature of Pre-British Bengal
society.
• After the invasion of British rule this traditional form of village
community turned into a new form associating with the
commercialization of agriculture, mechanized factory system,
urbanization of society, growth of trade and commerce, rise in standard
of living and so forth.
Population Growth Population growth was a basic feature amongst the
social preconditions.

played an important role in the development of Bengali
economy. It should be clearly make out that due to the
process of industrialization we have attained many
modern things specially accompanied by the
acceleration of social mobility.
