Pinterest?

What about it?

• Pinterest is the new rising star of Social Media and is actually driving more traffic to sites than Twitter and Google+, LinkedIn and Youtube all combined

• It was founded in 2009 by CEO Ben Silbermann

• In March 2012 the site registered 17.8 million users

• It is used mostly by females (with its approximately 80% female subscriber rate).

Pinterest

• It is a virtual pinboard that allows users to organize and share all the beautiful things they find online

For example: plan weddings, share recipes, post ideas for kitchen renovations, decorate their homes etc.

Pinterest

• Pinterest users are more often in a shopping mindset when they are using the service

• Pinterest has the potential to translate more quickly to sales dollars than other social-networking sites.

HOW TO use Pinterest?

1- Ask for an invitation from the Pinterest team or by someone who is already a part of Pinterest

2- When you receive an invite, you can register via Facebook Connect or connect through Twitter

3- Intall the Pin it button in Firefox, Safari, Explorer…

4- Follow a few more pinboards as Pinterest is much about discovering

5- Start pinning things you like.

Tumblr?

What about it?

• Tumblr is a micro-blogging platform and a social networking website

• It was founded in 2007 by CEO David Karp

• In February 2012 Tumblr has 46.2 million blogs.

HOW TO use Tumblr?

1- Click on the Sign up button2- Enter an e-mail address, password and username3- Start using Tumblr (new posts, reblogging, liking etc)

Twitter?

What about it?

• Twitter is an online social networking service and microblogging service that enables its users to send and read text-based posts of up to 140 characters, known as "tweets"

• It was created in 2006 by Jack Dorsey

• On March 21, 2012, Twitter celebrated it's sixth birthday while also announcing that it has 140 million users and sees 340 million tweets per day.

HOW TO use Twitter?

1- Click on the Sign up button2- Enter a full name, e-mail address, password and

username

3- Start tweeting (follow, tweet, favorite, retweet, use hash tag etc.)

What about it?

• LinkedIn is a business-related social networking site

• It was founded in 2002 by CEO Reid Hoffman

• 150 million subscribers are on LinkedIn

• LinkedIn is available in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Romanian, Russian, Turkish, Japanese, Czech and Polish.

• Facebook is a social networking service and website

• It was launched in 2004 and founded by Mark Zuckerberg with his college roommates and fellow students

• In February 2012, Facebook had more than 845 million

birthday.

3- Start using Facebook (add photos, create, like, comment a fan page, groups etc)
