QUINTA QUINOA IS A PROFIT AND PRIVATE BUSINESS THAT IS PART OF THE ORGANIC FOOD INDUSTRY. THE BUSINESS IS BASED IN NORTHERN AND SOUTHERN PARTS OF ONTARIO. QUINTA QUINOA HAS BEEN IN BUSINESS SINCE 2011

JAMIE DRAVES IS THE OWNER OF QUINTA QUINOA AND HAS SOLE PROPRIETORSHIP OF THE BUSINESS. THE REASON HE STARTED THIS BUSINESS WAS BECAUSE IN 2007 HE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A PANCREATIC DISORDER THAT HAD NO TREATMENT FROM MODERN MEDICINE, SO HE RESORTED TO NUTRITIONISTS AND WAS PUT ON A VERY STRICT DIET OF SUPER FOODS. QUINOA WAS ONE OF THE MAIN FOODS THAT TOOK HIM FROM ALMOST BEING DEAD TO THE HEALTHIEST HE HAS BEEN IN HIS LIFE.

WHY QUINOA?QUINOA IS GROWN MOSTLY IN SOUTH AMERICA IN COUNTRIES SUCH AS PERU AND BOLIVIA. JAMIE BELIEVED THAT HE COULD GROW A SUPERIOR NUTRITIONAL QUINOA IN CANADA, 7 YEARS FROM WHEN HE STARTED HE WAS ABLE TO DEVELOP A SUPERIOR PRODUCT THROUGH NATURAL BREEDING THAT HE IS NOW SELLING IN 50 STORES IN ONTARIO.

METHODOLOGY

THE APPROACH I HAD WHILE CONDUCTING MY RESEARCH WAS TO GO TO THE PLACE EVERYONE GOES TO LOOK THINGS UP, GOOGLE. I TYPED IN QUINTA QUINOA AND SEARCHED TO SEE IF THEY HAD LINKS FROM THE WEBSITE TO OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA PAGES AND FOUND OUT THAT THEY HAD LINKS TO 5 DIFFERENT SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS SUCH AS FACEBOOK, TWITTER, PINTEREST, AND INSTAGRAM. THEIR WEBSITE QUINTA.CO SIMPLIFIED THIS ASSIGNMENT BY HAVING ALL SOCIAL MEDIA SITES LISTED THERE AND I DIDN’T HAVE TO GO SEARCHING THROUGH ALL DIFFERENT SITES LOOKING TO SEE IF THEY HAD A PAGE OR NOT FOR EACH SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM. I EXCLUDED THEIR LINKEDIN PAGE BECAUSE ALL IT HAS ARE LINKS TO THE OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA TOOLS LISTED ABOVE.

FACEBOOK AND TWITTERQUINTA QUINOA USES THE SOCIAL MEDIA TOOLS OF FACEBOOK AND TWITTER AS THEIR MAIN PAGES OF PROMOTION. WHAT INFORMATION THEY DISPLAY ON THESE PAGES ARE PICTURES OF THEIR PRODUCT IN NEW STORES THAT THEY ARE SELLING IN, QUINOA RECIPES, HEALTH FACTS, AND PICTURES OF AWARDS THE PRODUCT HAS WON.

QUINTA QUINOA USES PINTEREST TO BOARD ALL RECIPES YOU COULD EVER IMAGINE FOR QUINOA. INCLUDES RECIPES FOR BREAKFAST, LUNCH, DINNER, AND DESSERTS. PINTEREST DOESN’T POST AS FREQUENTLY AS FACEBOOK OR TWITTER. AS A RESULT THIS TOOL HAS A LOT LESS FOLLOWERS THAN OTHER TOOLS QUINTA QUINOA USES.

QUINTA QUINOA USES INSTAGRAM TO SHOW HOW AND WHERE THEY PRODUCE THE QUINOA FROM WHERE THEY GET HARVESTED TO IT IN PACKAGING READY TO BE SHIPPED. OTHERS PICTURES ARE JUST PICTURES YOU CAN FIND ON THE FACEBOOK AND TWITTER SOCIAL MEDIA PAGES.

WHAT I LEARNED

WHAT I LEARNED ABOUT THE BRAND QUINTA QUINOA IS THAT ITS CORE BUSINESS IS GROWING AND SELLING HIGH QUALITY QUINOA AND IS ALSO IN THE EARLY STAGES IN DEVELOPING OTHER CROPS SUCH AS AMARANTH. THE MAIN CONSUMERS ARE PEOPLE WHO WANT HIGH QUALITY FOOD TO EAT AND THAT ARE WILLING TO SPEND MORE MONEY FOR BETTER QUALITY FOOD. THE USEFULNESS OF THE PRODUCT IS THAT IT IS CONSIDERED A SUPERFOOD WHICH MEANS IT HAS MANY NUTRIENTS THAT HELP YOUR BODY FUNCTION SUCH AS ZINC, IRON, MAGNESIUM, AND CALCIUM. THEIR SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS PROMOTE HEALTHY LIFESTYLE AND ALL AROUND HAVING A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE WORLD.

QUINTA QUINOA SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS HAVE LITTLE TO NO ENGAGEMENT BETWEEN THE COMPANY AND CONSUMERS AND MAKES FOR A DULL EXPERIENCE WHILE ON THE PLATFORM. ENCOURAGING AND ACTING ON FEEDBACK ALLOWS YOU TO TAILOR YOUR PRODUCT OR SERVICE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS’ NEEDS. CREATE A POLL FOR YOUR TWITTER FOLLOWERS, OR ASK FRIENDS, FOLLOWERS AND CUSTOMERS TO OFFER FEEDBACK ON YOUR PRODUCT OR SERVICE. FOR INSTANCE, IF YOU'RE MARKETING CHOCOLATE BARS, THE QUESTION MIGHT BE SIMPLE: DO CUSTOMERS PREFER AN ENTIRELY SWEET BAR WITH COOKIE PIECES INSIDE, OR A SLIGHTLY SALTY BAR WITH NUTS OR SEA SALT? HOW DO CUSTOMERS SELECT THAT PERFECT CHOCOLATE BAR? FOR SITUATIONS LIKE THIS, A SIMPLE POLL MIGHT BE ENOUGH TO TELL YOU WHAT THE MAJORITY OF YOUR CUSTOMERS PREFER, BUT IT'S NOT ALWAYS ABOUT SIMPLY ANSWERING THE QUESTION. INSTEAD, OFFER YOUR CUSTOMERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO ENGAGE IN DISCUSSION OR DEBATE. NOTE DOWN FEEDBACK FROM ALL SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS.

RECOMMENDATION #2 GIVEAWAYS

GIVEAWAYS ARE ANOTHER WAY THAT YOU CAN KEEP PEOPLE ENGAGED ON YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA PAGE. DOING SOMETHING LIKE 10% OFF NEXT MONTH IF WE HIT X AMOUNT OF LIKES WOULD GIVE A REASON TO CONSUMERS TO ALWAYS BE LOOKING AT YOUR PAGE TO SEE IF THEY CAN GET A DEAL BECAUSE WHO DOESN’T LIKE GETTING A GOOD DEAL ON A PRODUCT.

RECOMMENDATION #3 FOCUS ON CONSUMER NOT PRODUCT

WHAT QUINTA QUINOA DOES ON ITS SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM IS PROMOTE PRODUCT BUT THAT’S ALL THEY SHOW NOTHING ABOUT THE CONSUMERS THAT ARE PURCHASING YOUR PRODUCT OR THE PEOPLE BEHIND SELLING THE PRODUCT WHICH CAUSE A DISCONNECT WITH YOUR FOLLOWERS AND THEY MIGHT LEAVE YOUR PAGE BECAUSE IT IS JUST DIFFERENT PICTURES OF THE SAME PRODUCT OVER AND OVER. THERE SHOULD BE MORE INTERACTION GOING ON THE PAGE
